Here's my theory. Asta's mom did have a human husband. Asta's devil was just a friend to Asta's mom, but when her husband found out he turned her in to be executed the devil tried protecting her but failed and as compensation promised to protect Asta and the reason why he looks like him is just because that's what happens when a devil possesses a human they take on their appearance as a way of saving that they are a part of them. And since Asta's devil has been with him since he was an infant he had no chance to gain an affinity for magic/the devil's presence is preventing Asta from gaining what would be his actual magic. Besides remember Asta isn't using the devil's grimoire he is using Litch's, Asta tried to return it but he said "it doesn't belong to me anymore. Now its your grimoire" (paraphrased). The devil can only use it because he literally has Asta's arm attached to him. But that's just a Theory, a manga theory.
Personally I think it’s his brother: especially if he is hesitant about attacking him...or it could be his father but just happened to remain in a younger form...so basically Astas father became friends with the devil or had some sort of connection with the devil 🤷🏽♂️

RICHEY099 There is literally no such thing. It’s either canon or it’s filler. People keep forgetting that the anime is not the Mangaka’s work. It’s not even an accurate representation of his work in an animated medium. It’s just a studios adaptation of someone else’s work and they have the creative license to do whatever they want with it. For better or worse, it’s not the Mangaka’s original vision for the story.

Astaroth was in real life where we live a prince demon and Asta's name is clearly inspired from Astaroth. I thought Asta is the human side and Roth was his demon side. The father was a demon and the mother was a human. Because it is forbidde having a hybrid demon child the other demons hunted Astaroth Asta (this would explain the anti magic demons hate to Lucifero that was my idea). Asta's mother split Asta in two pieces the demon side of Astaroth was sealed in the 5 leaf grimoire and his human side send to the world of living. This would also explain Asta having no magic because his side what has magic is Roth who was sealed in the 5 leaf grimoire. I thought they would fuse to one person to one being again if my theory was right. Well sadly my theory was WRONG but I think is a really good theory.

So I just read the next chapter, and it’s time for my theory about how this timeline has all played out. This will obviously contain spoilers, so you have been warned. As an extra precaution, I’ll space this out a bit so read more appears before I dive into the theory. So in chapter 268, AMD (who’s name is revealed to be Ribe) thinks about how he ended up in the grimoire. He’s apparently the lowest class devil, as he has literally no magic, and was constantly assaulted due to the way devil society works. One day a high class devil threw kid Ribe at the gate separating their world from the human world, and Ribe assumes he was able to pass through due to the fact that he has no mana, however life didn’t change much since humans were prejudiced against devils and called upon magic knights to kill him. When he was on deaths door and passed out, he woke up to see Lichita, who explained how she lives isolated because she has a weird body that sucks the mana or vitality from anything around her. Ribe was fine to be around her, however, presumably because he was a devil with no mana, so she quickly decides to adopt him as her child, as she seems to be an adult already (I say seems only because it’s an impossible tasks to guess an anime character’s age based on appearance, but I’m fairly certain that she is in fact an adult). There’s a nice montage of them living together and doing things mothers and sons would do, then one day Lucifero manages to possess Ribe, planning to use him as a medium to explore the human world and fuck shit up, but Lichita grabs him and begins absorbing his mana, so he promptly impales her in the stomach. Now if you remember, in chapter 242, Dante did something extremely similar to Gauche, and when that happened, there was a flashback of who we now know is Lichita. I thought it might be Asta’s memories, but now we know that was definitely from Ribe’s memories, which seemed to synchronize their rage and let Asta go into the super devil possessed form to scrap with Dante. I say all that to say, there were theories like what Tekking talked about where Ribe was assumed to be Asta’s dad or brother, but we can now confirm that they’re adopted brothers. Some may say that it isn’t confirmed that Lichita is Asta’s mother, but let’s consider all the facts, shall we. In this chapter, when Lichita was trying to save Ribe, she had a flash back to her leaving a basket in front of a building, saying something to the effect of “I won’t let him go this time!” Remember that Asta was discovered in a basket outside the church. Not only that, but aside from the fact that anyone with eyes that can see realizes they look similar, think about the circumstances of Asta’s birth. Asta has zero magic. Not weak magic, or low magic affinity, but absolutely zero mana. Lichita’s special constitution sucked up the mana or vitality of anything around her, so chances are would include, say a baby she was carrying. If Asta had his mana constantly sucked away from seed to new born, then of course he would be born without magic. The question becomes why she left him to the church, but I think the answer is pretty simple. Clearly, based on how she treated Ribe, she was a kind and loving mother, so after Asta was born, she probably came to the conclusion that she couldn’t raise him. He was born without magic, and due to her body, there was a chance that she could even suck away his vitality. Not only that, but even if Asta was immune to her condition, he would’ve grown up alone since they lived far away from the village, literally only having each other. As a mother, she probably couldn’t stand the thought of Asta experiencing the same loneliness she felt before Ribe appeared, so she reached the conclusion that it would be better for him to grow up in the village, where he could make friends and be happy. When the grimoire chose Asta, it’s probably because Ribe recognized Asta as looking similar to Lichita, and since Asta had no magic, he was the perfect vessel to allow his anti magic to flow through. That’s probably why Ribe has helped Asta out so much as well. He probably looks at him his little brother (I say little because even though we don’t know how long it was after she left Asta that Ribe appeared, Tekking pointed out he was a little taller than him). IN CONCLUSION TL;DR Asta’s AMD is his nii-san that was stored in the five leaf grimoire by their mom’s magic, based on the evidence above. On a side note, I hope they actually form a brotherly bond so we hear Ribe talk more

The devil could be his dad directly or perhaps his dad is someone he had previously possessed. Also, given that the author is lifting a lot names and themes from demonology and various religious texts it's interesting that Asta's name is a part of 'Astaroth' who is one of the Lords of Hell along with Lucifer. Another note on that is that Astaroth isn't so much so much a demon as he is a fallen angel. (obligatory ABD shoutout)

The five leaf clover mythos is something that was established when licht transformed. Remember his grimoire has four leaves up until his transformation. I believe there was another grimoire we’ve seen that made the same mutation I just can’t remember what the other one was.
I would love for tekking to do some black clover reviews but the chapters feel so short cause there’s so much action so maybe every 10 or so chapters he should do a discussion video on everything that’s happened... he does a discussion video almost every day anyway
I cannot believe, that Tekking guessed it. The Anti Magic Devil was literally Asta's "Brother" Well their not related, the Anti Magic Devil or Liebe was sorta adopted by that woman. That woman was also confirmed to be Asta's mother, having a similar kind of magic to Henry. We also get to see her leaving Asta at Hage Church.
I heard a theory from another channel in which it was stated that maybe the anti magic devil was actually Asta's dad and when his wife was killed he fell into despair, like Litch.
The three leafs are Hope, Faith and Love then Four Leaf equals Luck and Fifth equals Devil...I think it will be a combination of both Asta talking and fights his Devil at the same time showing the Devil that they can be real partners and show the Devil he can rely on Asta for strength too that he doesn't have to be alone or keep on hating himself...

The question becomes why she left him to the church, but I think the answer is pretty simple. Clearly, based on how she treated Ribe, she was a kind and loving mother, so after Asta was born, she probably came to the conclusion that she couldn’t raise him. He was born without magic, and due to her body, there was a chance that she could even suck away his vitality. Not only that, but even if Asta was immune to her condition, he would’ve grown up alone since they lived far away from the village, literally only having each other. As a mother, she probably couldn’t stand the thought of Asta experiencing the same loneliness she felt before Ribe appeared, so she reached the conclusion that it would be better for him to grow up in the village, where he could make friends and be happy. When the grimoire chose Asta, it’s probably because Ribe recognized Asta as looking similar to Lichita, and since Asta had no magic, he was the perfect vessel to allow his anti magic to flow through. That’s probably why Ribe has helped Asta out so much as well. He probably looks at him his little brother (I say little because even though we don’t know how long it was after she left Asta that Ribe appeared, Tekking pointed out he was a little taller than him).
IN CONCLUSION TL;DR
Asta’s AMD is his nii-san that was stored in the five leaf grimoire by their mom’s magic, based on the evidence above. On a side note, I hope they actually form a brotherly bond so we hear Ribe talk more

Also, given that the author is lifting a lot names and themes from demonology and various religious texts it's interesting that Asta's name is a part of 'Astaroth' who is one of the Lords of Hell along with Lucifer. Another note on that is that Astaroth isn't so much so much a demon as he is a fallen angel. (obligatory ABD shoutout)

The five leaf clover mythos is something that was established when licht transformed. Remember his grimoire has four leaves up until his transformation. I believe there was another grimoire we’ve seen that made the same mutation I just can’t remember what the other one was.

I cannot believe, that Tekking guessed it. The Anti Magic Devil was literally Asta's "Brother" Well their not related, the Anti Magic Devil or Liebe was sorta adopted by that woman. That woman was also confirmed to be Asta's mother, having a similar kind of magic to Henry. We also get to see her leaving Asta at Hage Church.
Henry has a diff magic that lets him control the black bull hideout. He was cursed or sick that makes him absorb magic from other people.
