I bought a brz spring of last year. Manual. It’s literally the most fun you can have driving a country road without spending a lot more on a Cayman. Gets enough police attention with 200hp. I think it’s one of the best drivers cars money can buy. No regrets. I’ve looked at every other sports car on the market.
As much as I have the s1 am actually seriously considering swap for one of these as it was my second choice . S1 has plenty of kick and awd the brz stuck out as fun to drive
Trading in my 2014 today for a 2017 WRX, It's been a fun ride and I'll miss it on the corners. But the lack of acceleration and long winters in this country got to me eventually. If I had unlimited funds, I would love to have kept it on the side.

Got my gt86 last week love it. It was my first manual car as will. Trust me when I say the car is fast enough if you went from a Honda with 130 whp too 179 whp. Besides you could always add a tune and a few upgrades to make it around 200 whp, its your choice though.
Have a 2001 Honda CRV "Sport", drove the BRZ and it feels amazing. Even after a brief drive/pessenger in a 2017 Mustang GT and a E92 M3, I still love something special about the BRZ. Ordering mine in a couple of hours, about to go to the dealership. The CRV has been great and reliable but after the test drives I was throughly hooked. (The 1st gen CRV has about 120-150 horsepower, so 205 is plenty for me, without being a tad scary when you plant your foot, unlike the E92 that a friend took me in a drive in.)
I personally prefer the previous generation car. Not a fan of the controls on the steering wheel, the new digital gauge is pretty useless and looks cheap. Things I do like are the new performance pack, BRZ being stitched on the seats, the new final drive ratio, and the red intake manifold. Reminds me of my STI. Personally I could never daily the BRZ, but that's why I have two cars... STI as a daily (surprisingly a better daily than you would think) and the BRZ for the weekends and some light track use.
martinnmartin The BRZ looks only better because it does come with a wing. Cheaper I wouldn't say so because the lowest most dealers will sale a new brz or 86 is around 24000. The white color in my 86 in my opinion looks way better than the white brz. It was a special that cost a little extra and I got all weather Mat with the 86 logo. Although I would say the option of limited for the brz is amazing. It comes with push start, nice seats, fog lights, and I believe a different cluster, but your be paying about 4000 grand more and the performance package 8000 grand more.
Mx-5 is good, some may argue better, but so freaking tiny, it's pretty much useless as a daily driver. Taller , gents will agree, the Toyobaru Brz-86 offers a lot more wiggle room. When you see 124 spiders, quickly grab a shoe and start squishing. 😃 Fiats are for prissy hairdressers and are zero reliablable. I got a Brz wich I daily drive. Great car. No issues. Handles Canadian winters surprisingly well. I recommend getting the buttwarming seats.

One is a pure front engine RWD low CG custom made sports car platform and the other is an all wheel drive impreza platform with high centre of gravity. Electronics and engineering help tuning a family car to a fast car but don't make it a low CG sports car unfortunately.
@ 3:10 spot that Lorry? Yep.. This will happen! Joking aside.. It needs more torque, such a shame. 2.5 Litre non turbo engine would solve this. 250bhp and more torque.

I think people commonly misunderstand this car. The point of the car is fun, sportiness, not outright speed.

How can this car be "Affordable" when it's 30k ? I'd rather go for a newer sti that is around 35-40k, and it's does everything alot better than a brz.
