    I am living proof (thank God) of the risks associated with heart cath Dr Ovadia spoke of. Back in 2018, after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure, my cardiaologist ordered a cath. A day and a half after the cath, I suffered a stroke. Being in a rural area, I was taken to Denver on an air ambulance. Thanks to the care there, I walked out of that hospital 4 days later with little lingering effects. Everything cleared up in a week. The risks are real.

    Did a CT Angiogram in China. Was $150, appointment the next day with no hurdles. Lowest radiation machines on the market. Beats the piss out of healthcare in the US, where my cardiologist and insurance company have required me to perform numerous screening exams that cost $000’s and require many trips to the office.

    I have heard others indicate (Dr. Ford Brewer, for one) that calcium is the indication of a stable plaque, that the most dangerous plaques are the soft ones that haven't calcified yet, and that because of this a CAC score can increase due to plaque stabilization. Would love to hear these doctors address that, specifically.

      Exactly, I was wondering about this as well!

    • @trail.blazer
      @trail.blazer 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      It is well established that what you have described is correct. Most people that have calcification will still have some soft plaques. It is common for the CAC score to subsequently increase after treatment begins, which is generally a good thing. Some people have then been able to reduce their CAC scores and attempting that should be after calcification has increased together with that stabilisation. Treatment can include diet, lifestyle, supplements and/or medications.

    I'm 6 month carnivore. I was in an ICU ward because of status epelepticus. It took about 3 days or more for a neurologist to wake me up. During that time I had a heart attack. My body was over using energy while unconscious and my body was temporarily paralyzed probably because of how the over use of energy being used. I was told I'm lucky to be alive and that while still unconscious at the start the neurologist said if I will ever get to wake up my brain would be in a state of a vegetable. Would it definitely be the status epelepticus that caused the heart attack not the LDL? I was prescribed a statin but refused to take it. Because my triglycerides are low I'm happy with the result but they want me on statins. They can throw their statins in the rubbish bin!

    My belief was that if you put two cac scans side by side a year or 2 apart the main aim is to not have any new plaques formed, in most instances the plaques will increase no matter how good your diet is.
    Ford brewer sees plaque increasing and many others who look at all these scans regularly.
    Arthur Agaston also says not creating new plaques in different areas is the goal.

    This says a ton about how backasswards our medical system has become. I discovered my high CAC score by going out on my own to get it done, no physician recommendation because I am metabolically healthy, not overweight at all, and have always been quite active with hard physical labor for work. Anyway, so I wanted to find out more after getting the CAC, but the ONLY thing the Dr. advised was the statin and baby aspirin. So I said no to the statin and because of that the Dr. WILL NOT TEST FURTHER. Well, I was kinda shocked. It’s like, take a statin or simply be left wondering if i have soft plaque that might cause a problem. It’s crazy that I’m TRYING to help myself before I have a heart attack and the so called cardiologist experts I’ve seen instantly just go to the pharmacy. I guess I’ll try to get a CTA exam on my own too. Very frustrating and scary when I can’t even rely on the Dr. to initiate any further testing 😢 TAKE A STATIN OR HIT THE ROAD-LUDICROUS!!!

    I have a calcium score of 175 & was put on a statin. I am going back a year later after reducing carbs & diet sugars for another CAC score test to look for improvement. Informative & insightful, I leant a lot! Low carb diet bring down insulin resistance & hence inflamation then reduce the plaque in arterial walls & hence calcification reduction.

      Don't be surprised if your CAC score actually increases. You were doing damage for a very long time before you started making healthy changes. So there may be a lot of healing to be done in the was of plaque being calcified.

      Yes it can be scary. An important point made in this video is not the CAC score at a point in time, but its progression over time. For all you know you have stable calcified plaque from many years ago, or you could even have reduced it. The only way to know if you need to worry is to have another CAC score done 1-2 years after the first. My CAC is 420 and I am pushing for a repeat to find out exactly this
