Two great doctors I follow for 2 years who helped me beat my diabetes, hypertension, obesity (lost 40 kg in less than a year) after I suffered heart attack in 2022.
I am living proof (thank God) of the risks associated with heart cath Dr Ovadia spoke of. Back in 2018, after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure, my cardiaologist ordered a cath. A day and a half after the cath, I suffered a stroke. Being in a rural area, I was taken to Denver on an air ambulance. Thanks to the care there, I walked out of that hospital 4 days later with little lingering effects. Everything cleared up in a week. The risks are real.
My family doctor always ordered a CAC store and has an ultrasound person right in his office. I know I’m lucky to have a top functional doctor here in Los Angeles since 2005 that way ahead of the curve.
I must say the best interview I have seen recently. and it was because of all the questions by Dr Rob cywes addressed... very easy to follow. well done and thank you.....

Would love to hear these doctors address that, specifically.

It is common for the CAC score to subsequently increase after treatment begins, which is generally a good thing. Thanks to doctors such as these wonderful humans who decided to dig deeper into the details and figure out why patients are dying of heart disease ( still #1 killer). Not many doctors are open minded enough to see that prevention is the key to keeping patients off the operating table and treat heart disease. Most are stuck in old ways of thinking. Dr Cywes, your mic is giving you a terrible sound and echo and makes it hard to understand a lot of what you are saying On the other hand, Dr Ovadia's mic is 100% understandable and clear Something needs fixing ! Thanks to both of you
I'm 6 month carnivore. I was in an ICU ward because of status epelepticus. It took about 3 days or more for a neurologist to wake me up. During that time I had a heart attack. My body was over using energy while unconscious and my body was temporarily paralyzed probably because of how the over use of energy being used. I was told I'm lucky to be alive and that while still unconscious at the start the neurologist said if I will ever get to wake up my brain would be in a state of a vegetable. Because my triglycerides are low I'm happy with the result but they want me on statins. They can throw their statins in the rubbish bin!
Wow. Timing is everything. I am scheduled for an angiogram stress test tomorrow for ongoing chest pain. CAC 3 yrs ago was 82. Wondering what tomorrow will bring. Did not know of the CTA test. I am working on the diet side already. Hoping all comes out well.
Dr. Cywes asked Dr. Ovadia about supplements like NAC, etc., to reverse plaque. There were interruptions and it didn't get answered. Perhaps Dr. Cywes can address this in another video?
When I worked with Dr James Case cardio thoracic surgeon we would see pieces of hard plaque that would come out especially when bypassing the LAD, they resembled chalk. We would also see the soft plaque. Crazy how young people were getting CABG!

I’ve been on a keto diet for a year. My hdl is 78, ldl 243, triglycerides 58. I am very lean, active, weightlifting, I’m 35 yo. I look forward to asking my doctor for a CAC but I’m not too worried about it
I have a calcium score of 175 & was put on a statin. I am going back a year later after reducing carbs & diet sugars for another CAC score test to look for improvement. Informative & insightful, I leant a lot! Low carb diet bring down insulin resistance & hence inflamation then reduce the plaque in arterial walls & hence calcification reduction.
Don't be surprised if your CAC score actually increases. You were doing damage for a very long time before you started making healthy changes. So there may be a lot of healing to be done in the was of plaque being calcified. My CAC was 34 after one year of keto. My belief was that if you put two cac scans side by side a year or 2 apart the main aim is to not have any new plaques formed, in most instances the plaques will increase no matter how good your diet is. Ford brewer sees plaque increasing and many others who look at all these scans regularly. Arthur Agaston also says not creating new plaques in different areas is the goal.
Here a 52 postmenopausal years old with family history of heart disease and despite the risks in the UK i still couldn't get a doctor's referral for a CAC test. I was told unless i have history of ❤ attacks. I was in Argentina and wanted to get it privately didnt find a place to maje it and consulted privately exclusively for the "doctor's written order", I was told i could not just go and have that dine yet, never done it.
Ive eaten pretty well for 10 yrs - low carb, lean body etc, age 56, always had good markers (low A1C, low fasting insulin, low hscrp etc) other than high ldl, and did a CAC for peace of mind. Scored 703. Has knocked me psychologically tbh. Just going to be more hardcore re processed foods etc, and come to terms with the fact we all die eventually, some earlier than others.
@@2wheelsarefun73well it generally means a diet low in carbohydrates. For me, meat, fish, poultry, moderate butter and cheese, some veg, but no potatoes, rice, grains or added sugar. But I do socialise and cheat occasionally. My point being, I was hoping for a lower score, and psychologically it's been tougher than I thought it'd be.
Yes it can be scary. An important point made in this video is not the CAC score at a point in time, but its progression over time. For all you know you have stable calcified plaque from many years ago, or you could even have reduced it. The only way to know if you need to worry is to have another CAC score done 1-2 years after the first. My CAC is 420 and I am pushing for a repeat to find out exactly this
Im getting ready to do one. I guess I'll prepare myself emotionally for an undesirable #. I'm basically doing this to prove to my doctor that I don't need a statin for my LDL which is 157. Also been low carb for a year now. Diabetes controlled at A1C of 6.
I thought you were interviewing Guga of Guga Foods as I was looking at the video thumbnail. This guest makes decidedly more sense. Although I'd watch you interview Guga!
Great interview with Dr. Ovadia. The question that I have is where can I look to find a cardiologist who takes metabolic health into consideration and doesn't just push statins? I live in New Jersey, and all of the different cardiologists that I've learned about are not accessible to me due to distance. Is there any type of directory of "metabolic cardiologists" available?
Does natto taste really nasty? I've seen some videos of people trying it for the first time and some people were vomiting because they said it was the most disgusting thing they've ever eaten.
@captainadams7569 I was just wondering if most people could at least tolerate the taste. Maybe some people I was watching eat it for the first time were overreacting just for views. I have a nattokinase supplement that I am taking for now, which probably isn't as effective as the food as in most cases with supplements.
This says a ton about how backasswards our medical system has become. I discovered my high CAC score by going out on my own to get it done, no physician recommendation because I am metabolically healthy, not overweight at all, and have always been quite active with hard physical labor for work. Anyway, so I wanted to find out more after getting the CAC, but the ONLY thing the Dr. advised was the statin and baby aspirin. So I said no to the statin and because of that the Dr. WILL NOT TEST FURTHER. Well, I was kinda shocked. It’s like, take a statin or simply be left wondering if i have soft plaque that might cause a problem. It’s crazy that I’m TRYING to help myself before I have a heart attack and the so called cardiologist experts I’ve seen instantly just go to the pharmacy. I guess I’ll try to get a CTA exam on my own too. Very frustrating and scary when I can’t even rely on the Dr. to initiate any further testing 😢 TAKE A STATIN OR HIT THE ROAD-LUDICROUS!!!
You have gotten labeled as "noncompliant". And the medical team chooses to maintain their ignorance and being virtuous. I got my doc to confront science literature challenging his bias. He will test me, but discuss with me the ratios, CAC scores, carotid scores.

I guess everyone is different. I’ve had every c19 vac and everything is great for me.
99, 80, & 80 blockages I’m assuming Are in the LAD proximal, mid, and distal?
@@captainadams7569 99 in LAD, 80s in RCA and OM1 -- another problem I have is extremely small vessels 1mm My triple was: RIMA to RCA; LIMA to LAD; SVG to OM1
@@UrsulaPowersyikes
@@captainadams7569 I responded a while ago but it's not here. Hmm. 99 in LAD the surgery was: RIMA to RCA; LIMA to LAD; SVG to OM1
Great video.. a must see.. I sent it to my family and friends… thank you..
I’ve been researching grounding as an anticoagulant. Some recently found about Covid and blood clots looks promising. It works for anti inflammatory and anti oxidants too.
Research Lumbrokinase. Reduces fibrin-the clotting factor. Get your Fibrinogen checked. It’s the clot-making protein in your blood. You can do it online yourself.
Do you mean by grounding, standing outside in bare feet?
@@catherineboland8736 yes! I use a wire that’s attached to the ground and then I can be grounded while sleeping. Totally passive and it seems to align the circadian rhythm somehow to sleep better. Google it!
A very well said Dr. ovadia 👌👌
would like Dr. Ovadia to be able to finish his sentences before being interrupted by Dr. Cywes!!!!!
Great podcast. there is too much echo from Dr.Cywes.
I fix hearts. It reminds me of the 1950s song.
I'm your handyman.. I fix your heart. I know I really can.
2 of my best doctors on youtube❤. God bless you both, dr. Robert C, and dr. Ovadia O🫶💪🧠🫀🫁🦷🦴👀
Dr Ken berry too
Especially dr. Ken Berry, dr. Anthony Chaffee and dr. Shawn Baker❤@@CraigLehigh
You can get it done in Ireland with a G.P. referal. Costs about €200
Look into an HSCRP test. It actually looks at inflammation in the arteries etc. If your BP is jumping all the time?
Ive eaten pretty well for 10 yrs - low carb, lean body etc, age 56, always had good markers (low A1C, low fasting insulin, low hscrp etc) other than high ldl, and did a CAC for peace of mind. Scored 703. Has knocked me psychologically tbh. Just going to be more hardcore re processed foods etc, and come to terms with the fact we all die eventually, some earlier than others.
Low carb could mean anything. Something like atkins is not healthy
Is your vitamin d level low?
I'm having a Stent procedure at the end of this month for an 85% blockage of my Left sub clavicle artery. Has taken me by total surprise.
Yeh..I bet
Thanks for this valuable information
I thought you were interviewing Guga of Guga Foods as I was looking at the video thumbnail. This guest makes decidedly more sense. Although I'd watch you interview Guga!
I wish Guga would see Dr. C or Dr. O ...
LOVE YOU GUYS
Great interview with Dr. Ovadia. The question that I have is where can I look to find a cardiologist who takes metabolic health into consideration and doesn't just push statins? I live in New Jersey, and all of the different cardiologists that I've learned about are not accessible to me due to distance. Is there any type of directory of "metabolic cardiologists" available?
There are a few listed on the Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners website
@@David-hp9tr Thank you
Thanks, doctors!
Nattokinase knows plaque as well.
Does natto taste really nasty? I've seen some videos of people trying it for the first time and some people were vomiting because they said it was the most disgusting thing they've ever eaten.
It's an acquired taste. Taste better when mixed with Dijon Mustard
@@RC-tm8joIt’s an acquired taste, but what difference does it make if it will give you a better quantity of life?
@@shingtome2179Yep. I use Dijon Mustard and, or coconut aminos make your own. It’s a lot cheaper, and organic.
@captainadams7569 I was just wondering if most people could at least tolerate the taste. Maybe some people I was watching eat it for the first time were overreacting just for views. I have a nattokinase supplement that I am taking for now, which probably isn't as effective as the food as in most cases with supplements.
Thank you both invaluable info.from jill❤

One of the reasons the CAC is not done is that Medicare and other insurance companies don’t pay for it
Premier Radiology charges 80.00. Worth it to know where you stand.
Frustating too, we are abandoned by the system. Of course, doctors like on this podcast cost 3500 for an hour in Florida, i called.
Lots of (low carb) food for thought!
