      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad I don't remember what it cost when I did it 3 years ago, but I just checked and 3/16" ABS is about $30 for a 16"x42" (just a guess on size needed) piece, from TAP Plastics, and you'd need two.

    Powder coat the Baja Design face plates in green. Don’t get any in the O Ring channel or powder coat the mounts that hold them.

    Turn those rotors!!!! They look like they have some etching. May I recommend severe duty pads. NAPA or Ford. I think Ford discontinued theirs. I have on F250 - work great. Really great compared to oem

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah Ford pads for the Raptor are actually really good. A friend also recommended the high end pads at oreillys too since they have a lifetime warranty so you get free pads for the life of the truck

  • @goldcartridgegamer

    Curious what brake setup you end up going with for the truck. Looking forward to that video.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This may surprise you and others, but I’m staying with stock brakes 🤷‍♂️.
      I’ve tried middle of the road solutions like upgraded rotors and pads and go no improvement what so ever. You feel some at first, but that’s because you have new pads. Overtime there is no braking improvement and most of the time they wear out quicker.
      Big brakes kits are tempting. BUT, they are expensive, and they can easily be damaged on a muddy day. I’ve seen it happen before.
      And pads get even more expensive and no local shops will turn the rotors. So it’s gets really expensive do you a brake job.
      Stock brakes are more than enough, and very economical to service.

    • @goldcartridgegamer
      @goldcartridgegamer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad doesn't surprise me. I believe we talked about it previously over Instagram. I looked at big brake kits and worried about the same items you listed. I tried looking up stock rotors and pads for the gen1 Raptor and found multiple part numbers. Do you happen to know which are the correct part numbers?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t. I went with best ceramic pads from Oreilleys and taking advantage of their lifetime warranty.

    • @goldcartridgegamer
      @goldcartridgegamer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad lifetime warranty? I didn't realize this was a thing. I will look into these.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, buddy told me about it and it’s legit. Lifetime warranty on pads. You can just bring them in and keep exchanging them.
      No such luck on rotors but still a nice little savings there

      Method makes a screw on version that normally goes on the beadlocks wheels.

    No trimming required on the rear to fit 37"?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. Nothing really you can trim. You will see some rubbing at full tuck. Even 35s will see rubbing at full tuck. So best option in the back is a bump stop kit like those from SVC, RPG, icon or Camburg.

    Such a great service you give with these ‘how to videos’! 🙏🏼
    I do have on ‘off topic’ question: do you also have experience taking Raptors on backroad tree lined or tighter rocky/rutty trails, or do you pretty much stick to open desert Baja type tracks (of course the raptor is made for that)?
    But, the Raptor does have a ‘rock crawl’ mode (presumably for low-gear slow crawling up rocks) but it doesn’t seem folks use the truck in that way? Is that mostly due to its width??
    I’m really interested in the Raptor, but am not exclusively looking for high speed open desert tracks (which sounds great) but also moderate backroad tree lined rough trails, but not ‘extreme rock crawling’ (like the Rubicon Trail) . Anyhow, since you’re an expert on the Raptor I thought I would ask?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, we have taken it in rocky trails, narrow switchbacks, climbed steep rocky inclines and done some forest trails. Check out DirtNation Offroad TH-cam. They regularly get 1 or 2 Raptors on their crazy runs too.
      But yes, width is the biggest issue. Specially on some trails. The truck is very wide and sometimes won’t fit without some body damage.
      The truck really shines at the high speed stuff. But it can do the low speed stuff and some of it, it does very well.

    • @Daniel-ux8tx
      @Daniel-ux8tx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad Thanks! I trust your experience. A “little body damage” is probably a good thing…truck doing work! :-)
      I was just watching this th-cam.com/video/nAnSaludH1k/w-d-xo.html and wondering what that would be like in a raptor?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Raptor could do it, but it would be sketchy. The Jeep is tiny by comparison. You would need some rock sliders and just take it slow and use all the 360 cameras to keep you on the trails. Some tight sections may need some outside spotting to keep you on the trail. A bronco would be better here than a Raptor.

    • @Daniel-ux8tx
      @Daniel-ux8tx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad even if the road is wide enough for the raptor, mentally it would be a lot to overcome; 37” tires aired down for grip would be extra nice along with the true sliders for sure, and the 360 would be indispensable with such little room to the edge….and yes, the bronco or even a regular size F150 would ‘feel’ safer. I just watched the ‘Big Boys’ doing Cleghorn on DirtNation-those fella’s are true bangers, I did notice the Raptor didn’t do the second half…reached it’s limits I suppose; the Power Wagons looked to be better suited for that kind of thing! Thanks for the tip to check it out 🙏🏼

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah. The Raptor stock clearance is not as great for that. The Raptor is not as tall to be more stable offroad at High speeds.
      It also comes down a lot to the drivers. The power wagon guys that run with Dirt Nation have no fear.
