Hello, yes that time, I bought every each part. Some came as good used here from Germany. The other new parts came directly from Summit Racing and Mustangs Unlimited in the US. Nowadays I have a company, which is presented in the historic racing market as a service supplier. We build 60/70´s Touring and GT race cars, like Shelby Cobra, Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Corvette, etc. Since that engine of this video here, I built 15 race and street engines of every automotive family (Mopar, Ford, GM).
The 67 Mustang GT 390s used a 780 CFM Holley from the factory...Your 600 CFM carb is too small to make the power a stocker does...Use a .030 overbore and polish and match all intake and exhaust ports and it will be a contender...I ran my 390 for 22 years like this and it never let me down...14.0 ETs and 100Mph in a 1952 Ford F1...close ratio 4speed and 3.92 axle ratio.
The heads are from the early 427´s. Big ports but standard 390 size valves. For exhaust headers w/ 14 bolts per head. The car goes like hell..........the engine gets a new heavier camshaft in the next time. :D
What does 'FE' stand for? Ford engine? also, can a 390 use a crank from other ford engines to make a 427? That's what I would like to do. Build a 427 FE duel Quad.
Again, next to the last saddle, not three, .....if you blindly drop a new bearing shell in there the perfectly centered shell doesnt line up with the feed hole..it blocks off about half the hole..you can enlarge either the hole in the shell but better to machine the hole on the block centered to line up with the hole in the shell.
Umm... Novachevyguy is right. The 390 has an entirely different block than the 460. As for the simple crankshaft swap, that only works when converting a 360 to a 390. Also, the beefiest blocks were put in cars. AFAIK only the low horsepower 2V engines were put into trucks. Which makes sense when you are selling big numbers to weekend warriors in their Mustangs/Fairlanes/Torinos. A truck engine is more valued for it's economy and longevity.
hello, i have an fe 360, i am restoring my track, a frame off restoration, can you send me a message with the new parts of your rebuilted fe 390? i know 360 and 390 are the same engine and i want to swap mine into a 390, thank you in advice for your time ,have a good day buddy SORRY FORM MY ENGLISH ,I AM FROM ITALY
Did your engine build correct the weaknesses of the FE engine? I think not... The oil-feed hole on number three main saddle is mis-aligned from the factory, did you correct it? No. The oil-pump housing has mis-matched oil feed galleries, did you machine the block to match housing with block feed sizes?, No. Did you use a moly 3-8ths oil-pump driveshaft to keep stock Hex shafts from breaking?, No. An oil restrictor for the 5-8ths lifter shaft feeds?, No. You got no business building FEs.

I used a Performer 390 and Holley 4160 as well on my 352. It's a good setup
I had a 360 in a 78 ford truck that thing was a beast of of a motor.
Will a crankshaft from 454 Chevy fit in 390
kool. video. well lit with a very organized assembly. did you buy the parts as a rebuild kit or different places?
I just rebuilt a fe 390 does any body know if it's water temp is suppose to reach 200 too 210 at stand still idle? Some say it is and say its not

SORRY FORM MY ENGLISH ,I AM FROM ITALY
445 stroker kit is cheaper
Watch this with captions on and its hilarious. Not even close haha
You have to talk to main caps?
Pardon....5-16ths for the rocker shaft feeds, not 5-8ths.
My 460 block looks different there is holes between the lifters
pretty sure the truck ones are beefier because they make more low end torque
@novachevyguy um.....yeah it is...
@rizerbob um.....no it's not..! sorry that you think it is but no you are wrong...
For more information, please check out the link in the video description.
Regards,
sorry mixed up the 428 and 429 for a second
it is put a crank from a 460 in it and it will be a 460
skip to 2 minutes to see rebuild begin.
