1967 Mercury Parklane Ford 410 FE V8 idle after rebuilt
Fully rebuilt 410 Ford engine from all original nonrestored 67 Mercury Parklane
That's why the engine stood untouched on the ourside.
Inside everything is new or rebuilt.
New pistons 020 over, all new bearings, new Stock camshaft, 3angle valve Job with hardened seats and new guides plus valves. Valve springs from 390GT (slightly higher rated), ports cleaned and matched to Felpro 1247 gaskets.
Still running nicely smooth but with much more power in the mid and top end

    A friend of mine back in my early high school days about 1982-1983 had a Mustang that looked like the car Steve McQueen drove in Bullitt..same color too..I am guessing a 1967-1968 Mustang Fastback..it had a 390 V-8 with either a 3 or 4 speed manual transmission in it..the cars engine was all stock..she let me drive it and that car had a lot of usable torque and ran great and easily roasted the back tire(s).

    Those carbs need some adjustment. Engine sounds good but that stumble when you whack the throttle is a fuel mixture problem.

    • @malibulaba
      @malibulaba หลายเดือนก่อน

      oh yes, final adjustments are done once the engine is in the car. Also these headers are bolted on upside down, as they don´t fit on the engine stand in correct position. So they are not sealed to the heads and the exhaust can suck side air.

    I like that, the FE is the greatest engine of all time. People are putting Coyotes in place of them. Are they crazy or just stupid?

    • @tireballastserviceofflorid7771
      @tireballastserviceofflorid7771 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The FE is a solid engine but hardly the best of all time. The coyote engine is incredibly good out of the box. Dead stock they will last 250 to 350 k easy. Hot rodded you cam make 600hp at 6000grand and it will hold up fine. The FE will not do that without a huge investment. Huge!

    • @Bbbbad724
      @Bbbbad724 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ The wet belt oil pump is still an issue, just like the 2.7L. It is rated for 1000 hp, but for how long? The FE in my Galaxie, I built in 1999 with the ARP drive, an M57 HV a deep sump Canton STEEL oil pan and at 6000 rpm it makes 85 psig. I have been building these FEs since age 13, 1973 and racing them and I never have broken one. 6000-6200 rpm and 7000 at times. The Coyote has yet to prove anything to me. They are tiny 3.5 bores 3.6 stroke. Run kill replace. I have FE engines in the barn storage that are as old as I am 64 years. I have a 1960 352 that still ticks over like a Swiss watch. Never rebuilt, never apart. Investment? I dont have the money in all of my engines that you would pay for one Coyote with harness and ECU. The FE has international credibility that the Coyote will likely never have with production cycles. The FE was discontinued in 1976. They are still popular today. I’m sceptical about the 2.7, 5.0 being simple enough to work on.

    • @tireballastserviceofflorid7771
      @tireballastserviceofflorid7771 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Bbbbad724 You may not have broke one, but plenty of people have. They blew up all the time in pulling trucks. seen more than a few leave crank parts on the drag line as well.

      @@tireballastserviceofflorid7771 I have 510 hp and 2100 dollars in my 390 and I have never hurt it. I understand the frustration of having a legendary engine that is still beating the snot out of the object of your affection, Ray Paquets High Riser, the Don Fotti 428 CJ etc, but the Coyote has a place. I don’t think they belong in classics. They are all right, but staying power we will see in 65 years.

    • @tireballastserviceofflorid7771
      @tireballastserviceofflorid7771 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Bbbbad724 Just pointing out well proven facts. And is my opinion. The 390 has a massive list of issues. Including dropping valves in the cylinder. Saw many many of those as a mechanic back in the late 80s and early 90s. The 400 modified also dropped valves. Anyway you play with what you know. The rest of can find beauty in nearly any engine chassis combo. I know for a fact a 4.6 or 5.0 will get double the mileage of your 390. The coyote in marine applications has proven to be outstanding just like the LS marine package.

      That is a nice engine. The FE is still without peer in what America used to build. It was so far ahead of its time that no one understood the value of a light , strong engine like it. I have had many FEs in my 64 years and I still love the sound, the power and balance of torque and horsepower that they had. The press always bagged on them. I got junkyard 410s from Mercurys and a cam and intake header swap I had a 68 Mustang that shamed many of its “betters” with.020 over 1.15 ch pistons and Slant 6 rods. It would hold 6000 all day and 7000 when you wanted. 413 ci and the quick rev of a 427 D cam made it lethal from 2800-6200 until you ran out of nerve. They are the greatest engine ever made. I never broke one, got stranded by one, and it took a heavy hitter to out run it. My 413 Mustang never lost.
