The 7 minute film opens with a Silicon Valley CEO-type delivering a product presentation to a live audience a la Steve Jobs. The presentation seems innocuous enough at first-the presenter seems to be unveiling some new drone technology-but takes a dark turn when he demonstrates how these autonomous drones can slaughter humans like cattle by delivering “a shaped explosive” to the skull.The audience eats it up, clapping and laughing along with the CEO as if they hadn’t witnessed anything more dangerous than the unveiling of the iPhone X. The CEO goes further, showing videos of the tiny killer drone in action. “Let’s watch what happens when the weapons make the decisions,” the CEO says, as the bot executes a number of people on the massive screen behind him. “Now trust me, these are all bad guys.” What follows is a deeply unsettling portrait of a dystopian world where these small weaponised drones use their onboard technologies-“cameras like you use for your social media apps, facial recognition like you have on your phones!”-to make autonomous decisions about who lives and who dies.

wow. the talk from the professor at the end just kicked it up a notch. Im studying cyber security, and what he said is 10000% true. There's no way once these exist, if they don't already, would ever be used for good. It's been proven time and again people LOVE power. And they will hang on to it at all costs. An invention like these would give way too much power to any one individual. It just chills my blood to see so many people in the comments joking about this. These can be made water-proof. Tennis rackets wouldn't stop them, neither will ballbats. EMPs can be prevented against with the right casing. It's truly chilling stuff.

Pocket EMP devices can work pretty good. Other means of disabling facial recognition, which involves connecting to some sort of server wirelessly, can be stopped by ECM devices that jam all frequencies of communication. It's not terribly hard.
What if we build a gaint cage that emits an electromagnetic field that disrupts communication in the outside world? Or a just emit a jamming signal, even now some antennas are powerful enough to cut off the drone from its controls?
Simple infrared lights will completely negate facial recognition software because it fucks with the photocell in cameras.

Technology gets smaller and cheaper over time. This is going to create serious problems of totalitarianism in the future if we don't have a coalition of countries band together and outlaw the use of them, the way we did with nukes.

the tech already exists, except the computational power for something a palm sized drone could lift would only be able to detect human faces... maybe the wifi MAC address of someone's phone. individual faces would require a remote link to some very heavy computational power... for now at least.
This is more bone chilling than any ghost or demon story. This could be very real and the apparition of the professor really gives the appropiate effect.

I looooove the visual in the Ted talk presentation, of the explosive firing into the skull. It's so DARK and it BOTHERS ME how it clearly aims to go through the thalamus and basically the main center of the brain with crucial responsibilities for survival
The toughest and most nearest to unstoppable killer robots would likely be microscopic or astronomical and I think that we are still bloody centuries from that. Machine guns and explosive weapons could VERY easily take out ALL the robotic antagonists of this film. They are highly trained, fast and quick, but they are still the size of bloody insects. There is no such thing as the Terminator, let alone the insect Terminator. Also the whole entire earth still only has a limited amount of money to even try to build so much of these robots. Each of these tiny killer robots would cost bloody fortunes to create or rebuild. Even bloody fortunes is a severe understatement.
They kill without mercy. They have no compassion.

Unmanned submarines can be far more quiet than a human powered submarine and doesn't ever run out of food.

Something smashing into the surface isn't going to make some massive shockwave that will reach hundreds of meters down(especially considering the blades on those missles). As you said, water doesn't compress, so not only is that going to destroy the missle, but the shockwave is going to propagate out in every direction from the impact, which will significantly reduce its energy over a relatively short distance.

I usually have to watch 10 shitty short films to see one good one. This is that one good one.
I just want to say at 1:50, I'm already entranced. I'll give my reaction to the ending in a minute.
Regardless of how it turns out, the intro is wonderfully disorienting in the way you throw us into the story, and it is scarily familiar to the real.

A small bot that was capable of changing the world for the better, until a hacker utilized the technology for evil and took out thousands of people. But instead of exploding their bots were modeled after wasps and bees and killed by burrowing through victim's heads.

Want to know the scary part? The original twilight zone series probably already did similar things. But then after i read some papers and watch some documentaries about what Drone can do in Armenian-Azerbaijan war then watching this movies again, i'm really terrifying about the possibilities of these technologies can do in the future.

I think the anti-sniper feature would be to figure out where the shots came from and then find and eliminate the sniper.
There already are sensors that can detect gunfire and pinpoint the location.

@@danpenia219 you also need either a name or address or dna/fingerprints (if they have medical or police records) to fully ID sombody. Otherwise you will kill a person that looks similar or walks the same. Its impressive tech, but still too flawed. Also battery life dosent last long. 10 mins ir something I cant remember 100%
Even in hostage situations, often both criminal and hostage are hooded so if nobodys walking would be a shame.
Being completely autonomous while working together with the swarm in such a small size with such limited energy and being extremely fast and agile is far from possible today. I think this may not even be possible in the next decade unless something changes significantly (like spiking neural networks advance a lot).
On the other hand, guiding drones one-by-one to targets with a strong remote AI while the rest of the swarm is hovering is much closer...

For example Lockheed Martin is a big supporter of LGBT and has even been featured in many pride parades and has consistently donated to the DNC. Democrats protest wars that are in America's interest, but support wars that support other countries who then give money to them as "speaker fees". Example Bill Clinton and Somalia and North Korea, Hillary Clinton and Obama with Afghanistan, Russia, and Syria, Joe Biden with Ukraine, etc.
Republicans support smaller government and also ownership of weapons by civilians, which are not favorable political stances to anyone in military leadership. And especially with Trump wanting to pull out of the UN and NATO and go America First, that is a huge blow to the military industrial complex so none of those corporations want Trump to win the presidency as it would lead to their stocks crashing like it did when he did his first term and refused to start any wars.
