Why spending money on all those shitty guitars (maybe not the chapman)?, you can buy a relatively nice and decent guitar with the money you spent on all those crappy ones, just saying....
Don Ar - you DO realize that companies will send gear to capable youtubers to review/demo, sometimes they get to keep them in exchange for presenting the video(which amounts to inexpensive advertising & exposure to wider audiences), sometimes they have to send them back... On first examination, the $150 Harley Benton Tele was in nicer condition than the $600 Chapman(there is the fret polish vs sharp fret ends; I know which one I'd rather fix).
You said Gibson or Fender, not me, when I talk about getting a better guitar I'm not talking about those 2 brands, you have great ibanez guitars, great ESPs, LTDs, PRSs, etc, Harley Benton is crap, sorry if it hurts you, you obviously own one (or more), poor dude...
Sure, and if he got them for free then great, I would love to get them for free too, just saying that if you have to buy, then you can get a better deal, maybe the word shitty was missused and I appologize for that.
yes you are right, i have three of this shitty guitars, and i can tell you why, they are very good. ltd´s? little secret they are produced in the same factory. have you ever played a harley benton? i think you didn´t. and sorry for poor dude was a bit to offensive. but it sucks to read it all the time and it is simply not true.
gotta give you congrats Cory the work you've put Into the channel has made all the difference. the step up in quality is immense. keep doing whatever it is you are because this channel will explode soon believe me!
aaahh thank you so much! yeah, i put a lot of time and work in it and always hope someone recognize it :D ! so thank you...nice to read something like this!
Sharp fret ends on mid range guitars are unacceptable in this day and age. I know in transit the woods shrink and expand but still for the money Chapman are asking i'd expect them to be near perfect (bad leveling and deadspots will happen on all price ranges). I'd rather them keep the gig bag and spend the extra on finishing to a better standard. I've owned budget ibanez's that were from Indonesia that had no sharp fret ends. if anyone has ever played a Ibanez premium the fret ends are on the whole perfect! I'm sure their are examples of rough ones but not as bad as some!
from what I have seen from other youtubers shots of Thomann they have great quality control as far as making sure the Harley Bentons are setup before they leave the Thomann factory/warehouse.
Just as an aside to this discussion, I recently bought a Vintage Lemon Drop and a Gibson Les Paul Tribute. The fret ends on the Vintage are perfectly finished whereas the Gibson's are a bloody disgrace. It will be the last Gibson I shall buy.
Funny, you mention premium Ibanez's. I have an Ibanez Jem that I paid $1400 for that cost me $250 to fix the fret ends. It also puked out the output jack after 4 uses. My Squier Classic 50's Vibe's I paid $400 for....frets are as good as frets can get. Difference? I bought the Jem online and walked in a tried out 12 Classic Vibe's to find the right one. Don't buy fucking guitars online people.
Merry Xmas Cory. Looking forward to the TE-52, Artcore and Chapman review. I have a soft spot for Fender MIM Stratocasters too and am curious if they are still using rosewood. Cheers.
Very interesting video Cory. I read that Fender are going over to pau ferro fretboards on all their standard models but I didn't think they had done so yet. I would have to do something to darken the fretboard on that Strat if it were mine!
You are on a roll at the moment Cory. I'm really looking forward to the up coming reviews. I have a Korean Chapman ML-1. The Q.C. is perfect. The first one I got had to be sent back with a grounding fault. I'll be interested in what you find with the Indonesian ML-2. Cheers mate.
I have almost as many Harley Benton guitars coming in. Plus gig bags, stands, cables, picks. I was supposed to be getting a couple of small amps but unfortunately they don't have any wired for the US market. I'm going to go check out Chapman guitars on the website.
Cory, did you find the Chapman had a rolled fingerboard edge, like the sales description boasts? Mine didn't. Still nice guitars for the money, though.
Adam Ruggier nope I tried an ml1 pro modern and there were a couple of sharp fret ends. which is shocking considering its a £900 guitar with stainless steel frets. apart from that it was immaculate though and played fantastic well I tried a couple both standards as well. There were rolled edges on the pros couldn't tell on the standards.
Ah, I see. Is there any notable difference between the standard and pro which makes them worth the additional cost? Also, have you tried out the Ghost Fret and the ML-V?
Adam Ruggier only tried out the ml1's tbh the standards are bloody good! but the neck through, stainless steel frets, tuners and overall feel on the pros are amazing. is it worth the extra 500 to me no but compared to other brands yes.
I own the AS73 and a Benton TE-70, a ltd Viper 300m that I changed to passive PUs, a 2017 holcomb PRS SE, a 1994 PRS Custom 22, a custom built "frankentele" and a modded squier SE Strat. In 28 years of playing I have probably gone through 40 guitars. My recent guitars range from 90€ that I paid for the used Benton Tele to 2000€ for the PRS "pre factory" . I have owned guitars more expensive than that, too. I count out the custom builds cause they are priced on the hour and the effort, more than anything else. Despite the variety in prices I will attest that Bentons have a wide quality spread between their models and even individual guitars of the same type... That being said, the TE-70 I own is up to par with my high end guitars experience(!) in that it has no deficiencies in its overall feel, playability, action, tuning stability, intonation and reliability. It's a rocksolid performer. It does NOT hold up to the dynamics, sound, versatility or luxurious feeling that some uptown guitars offer but it damn sure doesn't sound 93% worse than what I paid for those. All of the guitars I own right now were out of the box solid instruments and with a setup and decent strings serious instruments. I had to look for them, I went through several versions of each until I was completely happy, but don't count out these guitars because they don't meet some fancy price tag or because they are build in this factory or that. Keep an open mind, let your hands and ears be the judge and you'll find that more often than not you will pick up that Benton Tele or that Squier entry lvl Strat you modded the shit out of (not with big money, just with small and fun upgrades) and you will enjoy these so much more BECAUSE they didn't set you back 3 months of 60 hours a week workpay. Get an SE Strat, a nice big block replacement trem, cts pots, a set of warman or entwistle or iron gear or tone riders or prebora or rose pickups, a switchcraft jack, have a graphtech tusq or bone nut installed, if necessary some good (locking) tuners, roll the fretboard, do a fretjob and a setup and you will have Strat that will play and feel like a 1000 bucks MIA Strat for around 250 bucks PLUS you blew the soul into it! Playin guitar doesn't get much better than that.
Great video man! Just a tip, I think the exposure or highlights should be brought down because it's hard to see the details on the white guitars. Oh and btw Deftones \m/
I am seeing and reading more issues with the Chapman standard range having QC issues like sharp fret edges. I feel for the $400 price range you should not have issues like that. I can see a $100-$200 guitar having these issues. I have a pre 2017 Norseman and it is perfect. I hope Chapman guitars don’t hurt their brand by allowing these issues to continue.
Awesome, I'm going to guess that the fender is the best out of all of them. I'm not a fan of Rob's products, they're overrated and overpriced, what I do like is how they mount the pickups straight into the body, which is something you never see on a single cut. I detest pickup rings, other than that not much good to say about a Chapman.
Name not Found I've owned 4 Chapman's (ML1 ASH, ML2 CLASSIC, ML7S AND ML3) never found one that was a keeper. I have a soft spot for them but very unimpressed with the old range. can't say for the new range though. Although it's telling when Cory complained about the sharp fret ends on the Chapman yet on HB there wasn't any! (the tele)
B Thomas Fret inconsistencies, on a guitar this price, the Chapman I mean, are unacceptable, little blemishes or imperfections in the finish, need for a basic setup, truss rod adjustment and the like, fine but not a sloppy fret job. It's odd that when Chinese makers, and I don't mean HB, more questionably legal ones rarely, nowadays, allow for this kind of thing that guitars of that price range and above, because new Gibsons notoriously have a similar problem, or dead fret, do. I don't know for a guy who made several videos on how proud he is of his factories his products are not that impressive.
Name not Found yeah you're right about the fret thing. I bought a 2016 Les Paul Studio hi performance and it was terrible! I had to have the tunamatic filed and the frets leveled and crowned so price doesn't certainly doesn't dictate quality by any means. I'm just shocked that in 2017 it's a thing that's still an issue on guitars above a certain price point! It's also a bit worrying when cheapo Chinese guitars *sometimes have a better finish than Korean or Indonesian ones. Take Sigma acoustics and Squires for instance! I'm sure when rob went over and checked the factory was great and given this is the 1st run of the new ones obviously there will be rough ones. hopefully as the 2nd and 3rd runs come out they will perfect the finishing and eliminate the problems. it's not robs fault it's the quality checkers! on the whole chapman were quite good. For the money now their not as competitive as they once were.
I understand, could you review the TE-30 first, please? I've been thinking of buying that guitar for a long time and your opinions are very valuable to me :)
I dig the light brown color. Prefer it to the usual very dark rosewood fretboards. but then again, i highly doubt it is brazilian rosewood. This stuff is super rare and expensive. Sometimes you still see old stock used on absolute high end prs or martin guitars.
Ah ok. Pau Ferro then. Looks really nice. Seems like Fender stopped using rosewood as fretboard material according to this blog I just found: blog.andertons.co.uk/guitars/fender-rosewood
das auspacken ist immer das beste :D und salami schlagbrett passt sehr gut, und selbst da ist es noch echt die billige salami leider. dann lieber einfarbig halten anstatt die gitarre durch sowas zu entstellen!

Agreed. I mean, shit, all of my harley bentons didn't have any sharp fret-ends at all when they came to me from Germany. (I live in Sweden)
Agreed. Some companies do it. They all should.
from what I have seen from other youtubers shots of Thomann they have great quality control as far as making sure the Harley Bentons are setup before they leave the Thomann factory/warehouse.

Man the Chapman guitar looks really amazing but the toggle switch location kinda ruins it for me.
that pau ferro fretboard on the strat looks really light be interesting to see if theres any difference between that and a rosewood
Wow! 7 new guitars. Cant wait to see the reviews. I really enjoy your videos.
Merry Xmas Cory. Looking forward to the TE-52, Artcore and Chapman review. I have a soft spot for Fender MIM Stratocasters too and am curious if they are still using rosewood. Cheers.
Hi cory, looking forward to hearing the S620, interesting to see if the floyd's performance is any good as its superbly priced 😀
They put humbuckers in a strat now?
hey man do you own a harley benton ms-60? if you do would you recommend it? :-)
So much to look forward to Cory. You just get better and better 😊👍
+Tom Corr thanks tom!
Very interesting video Cory. I read that Fender are going over to pau ferro fretboards on all their standard models but I didn't think they had done so yet. I would have to do something to darken the fretboard on that Strat if it were mine!
Cory would you call the first tele from HB yellow or butterscotch?
+David Ball not yellow at all. its more butterscotch.
If you want a mid range price semi hollow, I would advise looking at Hagstrom Vikngs, I have a super viking in Tabacco burst and swear by it.

The artcore is a beauty.
Cory , is this a new camera?
That matte black for 98 euros looks really sexy, I like the headstock. Looking forward to full review...
How can a guitar of that price range have sharp fret ends? I don't understand the hype about Chapman Guitars.
Some good nice guitars there. Can't wait for the reviews!
are they still putting cookies in the case? VERY important and relevant question:)
Roland Lemus what case? if you mean real cookies... no cookies anywhere. 😊
Cookies are a riff-city thing, not a chapman thing
Cory, did you find the Chapman had a rolled fingerboard edge, like the sales description boasts? Mine didn't. Still nice guitars for the money, though.
BobsterUK I tried one at Andertons I also found this as well.
I think that's only for the pro range, correct me if I'm wrong.

Tremolo by Floyd Rose on HB! Lets see Cory's review!
Rough fret ends is something I've gotten used to and actually like nowadays because it's usually like that on all guitars I get.
Lol

Did you got any lottery?
I can't wait to order some guitars. Thanks for the reviews
Looking forward to the HB-JA pickup comparison.
Great video man! Just a tip, I think the exposure or highlights should be brought down because it's hard to see the details on the white guitars. Oh and btw Deftones \m/
That Strat fretboard looked anemic. I think everyone should follow Gibson's lead and start using Richlite as they use on their LP Custom.
I'm very happy that you are gonna review the guitar I told you about :)
+Sprengologist yeah? which guitar was it? 😁
HWY-25BKS Progressive Series
All Fender guitars that had rosewood fretboards are now being switched to Pau Ferro
Very nice good luck I have seven guitars all made left handed
dude...u make it so hard for us to choose xd.But which one do u like the most???
Dude, why did you bought so many guitars?
I like that sound when I open the box... :D
No prs?????
Hey Cory! Great vid! The HWY is Matte Black, not Satin! Can't wait for the review :)
Didn't watch the whole video, but i liked what I saw. I subscribed.
How many guitars u got in total lol?:D
Could have got 2 ec 1000s or a nice American made Fender strat
WOW! It's absolutely mind-blowing that the red floyd-equipped guitar is only $160...
I would give up my genetalia to get 7 new guitars at once...
However...guitars should come with cases
Are you from Germany?
I love that Ibanez
can't wait for TE 52 review .....nice job men

Why buy 7 guitars? How much did you pay for the 7 also with the free video advertising?
Somebody had to do it,,,,🎸🎶🎸
So ..im not yet sold on the Harley's, but you are a totally cool soul. If u ever in Jax Florida, lets play some guitars.
Guitar heaven!
Fender is using Pau Ferro instead now
Guitar made in Indonesia is firee specially for the expensive price
From Indonesia 🙏 btw
GET TO THE CHOPPAAAAAAA
Just kidding, great video ;)

8:40 What a beardscratch against the mic :P
+ReZanimate yep I am sorry. normally i got the mic placement different. that happens if you have to rush. 😊
I understand, could you review the TE-30 first, please? I've been thinking of buying that guitar for a long time and your opinions are very valuable to me :)
I thought chapman guitars came in a hard case
Huh
+McNugget Butts maybe not in this price range
Well.... I will say this.... It's a GREAT problem to have! I'm jealous!
Lucky B, boy !!!
4:29 WHAT the fuck was that
Cristian Popa thats my mouth doing a noise because its so heavy 😀
His beard is being rubbed with the mic and it creates a suspicious sound.
The strat's fretboard seems to be brazilian rosewood, more bright than the normal rosewood. It's used in a lot of Yamaha basses! Bye bye!
I dig the light brown color. Prefer it to the usual very dark rosewood fretboards. but then again, i highly doubt it is brazilian rosewood. This stuff is super rare and expensive. Sometimes you still see old stock used on absolute high end prs or martin guitars.
I just went on Thoman strat page and it's written "Pau Ferro fretboard". I google it and I find out Pau Ferro as a "Brazilian Ironwood"..
:O
Ah ok. Pau Ferro then. Looks really nice. Seems like Fender stopped using rosewood as fretboard material according to this blog I just found:
blog.andertons.co.uk/guitars/fender-rosewood
*Throws the case on the ground
"This is a very black guitar..." :-))
Der typ ist deutsch oder?
the chapman and the Ibanez are beautiful looking guitars.
Nice BGM! :)
TE-52 Heavy and fat neck....what a shame 😭
plays like a dream.
That strat is... Dhsjoaksoal ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm not trying to cause a problem I just wanted to say it's meant to be pronounced chapman not shapman
lawrence rodriguez no problem.. but i dont give a damn about right pronunciations anymore ☺️
oh you lucky blessed devil
Damn Cory now I need a white guitar!!!
Another guitar striptease 😍
A for effort

Oh ok
