- It's here at last. The LaFerrari attempts to earn its name by being the ultimate road-going Ferrari, combining a high-revving V12 with electric power to make the world's most exciting hybrid, with no less than 949bhp. We head to Italy to drive it, and see how it compares to its hybrid hypercar rivals, the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder.

I totally disagree with people who say this is ugly!! look at it!
I disagree with that also! LaFerrari sounds like 950 horses hearts beating combined!
***** Personally, I'd have either...lol, but the P1 sounds better and looks better, but that's just my opinion.
Carl Freeman Fair enough... If I had to buy a McLaren that would be the F1 not the P1...
The LaFerrari is definitely not an ugly car though .
definitely
Clarkson in the P1
Hammond in the 918
May in the LaFerrari
That would be one of the greatest Top Gear episodes ever. I can't wait.
Omg yes. Honestly all round the 918 will win, coming from the p1 fan.
I think the 918 suits May best and Laferrari, Hammond. But since hammond loves his Porsches thats probably what it would be should such an amazing combination ever happen :p
i thought it'd be
Hammond - Porsche, May - P1 and Clarkson - Ferrari.
sultanabran1 That does seem more appropriate but Clarkson drooled over the P1 so much that may wouldn't go even go near it with a gallon of sanitizer.
sultanabran1 That and Clarkson is so hilariously biased towards British...Anything.
the engine note is so incredible, that V12 screams wonderfully!
It doesn't matter what you like, p1, LaFerrari or 918 spyder this is another golden era for people who truly love cars :D we are all winning!
We are so lucky to live through this generation of hypercars. It seems like Ferrari, Porsche and McLaren have created something truly special, and the LaFerrari is the crown jewel of them all.
The P1 and 918 both have more/better technology, are better looking and the P1 is faster. Not sure how you can even remotely claim the Ferrari as being the crown jewel.
918 has lots and lots of bits to it...the P1 even more so, with its rods, bolts, seems, turbo spool rush, yeah there's a lot going on...but the Ferrari looks and performs like its born as an organic single piece of V12 effortless magic. I do love them all, but the LaFerrari has soul.
Awesome review EVO! Another awe-inspiring hypercar, but I think I may prefer the Ferrari now. The P1 still looks cooler, but I love the sound of that crazy high pitched Ferrari engine. Beautiful cinematography too. Well done!
The LaFerrari has a more classic style, but the P1 is like an alien spacecraft.
that engine sound! Ferrari engines sound like nothing else! I love that sound!! VVVVVVVVVVVRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Totally agree the best modern car sound!!
Now give it to Chris Harris.
Waiting for it!
Every time I see a new Ferrari I think to myself, that's the most beautiful car ever built; how will Ferrari out do itself next?.....and you know what? They never cease to amaze me. Viva Ferrari, Bravo.
My god, that performance!
That V12 is music.
I don't understand why people say its not good looking... Are you kidding? Its gorgeous! This car is beautiful and badass at the same time! Love it. Cant wait for P1, 918 and LaFerrari comparison :)
The very micro second I saw Dickie Meaden, my brain filed him under "Do Not Like", in my personnel files.
lmao mine too :-D
This should be Chris Harris doing the first drive..
eamoman651 . Even then all he would be able to say at the end of the film is, "It's a new thing!"
They needed someone to lick Ferrari's balls
judgemental, much?
We need a shootout with the La Ferrari vs the P1 & 918
This is a Ferrari, meant to be a performance car not an electric car like the p1. It is passion and flare with no turbo lag or fax machine noises coming out the exhaust. Great cars, all of these new generation hyper cars, but a ferrari is a ferrari and everyone who has driven one knows that!
The side profile of this car is the most stunning out of all 3 hyper carss
I still think the Porsche 918 is a better example of a hybrid supercar. It is more focused on creating a fast efficient hybrid rather than a stupidly fast performance machine with little regard for the actual problem of fuel efficiency.
You completely miss the point, nobody gives a fuck about fuel efficiency when you own one of these cars. If you do care, get a Prius.
The consumers may not care. But the companies should. It will only prepare them and help them progress into the inevitable future of hybrid and electric vehicles.
nimajneb02 I think it's more practical for Porsche than it is Ferrari. As that technology will then trickle down into their more affordable, everyday cars in their line up such as the Cayenne, Macan, Panamera etc for wider general use. Ferrari still has a very limited and exclusive line up of vehicles.
That is very true. I had not considered that.
CassettePlaya1
MAN,come on. They have a 4 door,4 seater,maybe it has 4 wheel drive and,that big v12 shoehorned in there.ITS SOME KIND OF F MODEL. fe,fj,fd,ff,something like that.
They just have a certain base that they market.
IM wondering if really they dont want to get to far or deep into the engineering
waters..
THE V12 HAS ALMOST 800 HP.
If you run this thing for 5 or 6 hotlaps,YOU ARE GONNA BE ON ENGINE POWER ANYWAY PROBABLY,BECAUSE THE BATTERIES ARE ALWAYS DRAINING. THEY ARE ALWAYS DRAINING.
Why put the batterie in,in the first place,IF YOU ARENT EVEN GONNA EXPLOIT USING IT. Seems short sighted.
I have to say, when I first saw the car I wasn't that impressed, but the more I see it, the more I love it. Credit to Ferrari for sticking in a naturally aspirated V12, now that thing SCREAMS!!! What a BEAST!
This guy is like the opposite of Jeremy Clarkson...
I think its a good thing! He really knows what is doing. That speech at 260 km/h before turning...
Yes, the difference is that Dickie can drive.
Joao Antonio Ya...You saw that huh!!!...I was like is that KMPH :-P
And is that a good or bad thing? I never really liked Clarkson... I'm not saying that I hate it, but I don't like it either, just meh.
One thing is certain, behind the wheel, this guy is a lot better, I'm certain.
And most people don't understand Top Gear is an entertainment show, not to be taken seriously...
Did you see just how freekin fast the speed digits in the cockpit goes up?!?!
one sick acceleration! :O
It's actually hard to follow with the eyes!
Because it's in KMH that's 2.1357 for everyone 1 MPH
Morgan Moore Wrong, 1 MPH is 1.608 KMH :)
Antoine Dutil Andreas is correct, 1MPH = 1.6KMPH
Oh crap sorry yeah, I was thinking of Ibs to kg, sorry guys
This is the best video editing of a review i've ever seen. You really get the feeling of the car while getting a good relevant review of what the driver experiences. JUST amazing!
Evo should have their own TV program to be honest. Screw top gear and their analogies.
This Ferrari and the 918 just make the P1 look like a soulless machine..
918 and soul don't really go in the same sentence.
Tobi Ogunsanwo And the P1, whose campaign was based completely on NUMBERS, is soulful? Speaking of a numbers campaign, where's that Nurburgring lap time?
Tobi Ogunsanwo
Just because Ferrari and Porsche preferred to develop a naturally aspirated engine says it all, building true racing-soul machines....they have my complete respect and admiration.
CarsFan69 Everyone knows that turbo done right kills NA everytime.
Tobi Ogunsanwo
The power isnt really the point, every true enthusiast prefer and would take a NA against a FI engine...Ferrari and Porsche get it and that why they keep doing it till now
Nice car to sit in a desert garage of a saudi
Unlike westerners most of us enjoy driving our cars to the limit and not just park them in a garage.
DevPack Oh we DO know how do you live. Because you oil-money posers just can't keep it to yourselves...
Posers? Its our oil and our money. We aren't posing, the richest and most powerful people come from the GCC, leave politics and business to us and go watch Glee or Breaking Bad.
S NB Yeah, you just buy things, enjoying the said Western civilization benefits - including all the (Western) supercars here - but can't invent a single thing in the world, can you? What exactly do you bring to the world? While there's so much poverty in the Middle East, you wipe your ass with dollars. It's a shame.
N1GHT5 Look son, the only reason there is poverty and wars going on in the middle east is the interfence of the U.S., its not a shame when my country donates 500 million KD a year thats 1.5 billion dollars to help those countries and those in need
The Ferrari and the 918 just sound so much better than the P1. Now if I could only afford any of the 3 ;)
I would love to just see a huge supercar show down. P1, 918, LA Ferrari, Koenigsegg 1 and Pagani Huayra and maybe the Veyron
I think Koenigsegg 1 would win.
Spyros Fougias only on a drag race would win
Lorenzo Locchi
Clearly you don't know what a koenigsegg is capable off doing... ;)
Lorenzo Locchi I totally agree!! Koenigseggs and Bugattis have been made only to beat the speed record and to race straight.
Emanuele Pinna You couldn't be more wrong!
Its always a thrill for me whenever a new Ferarri model come out and this one is no exception!
Thank u EVO, u never let us down
Thank you guys, thank you! What a work of art!
V12 revs to 9500 rpm :O :O
Im surprised he could review the car while driving it like that, you could tell he was making a huge effort in driving the car and the insane torque it gave, great job and brilliant driving
Let the competition finally begin! The guy summed it all up at 9:30 - Now we need to get all three - McLaren P1, Porsche 918 and LaFerrari - on one track. These three cars are the product of every bit of Formula 1 racing expertise the three Greats have achieved.
This car revs to 9,500 rpm! The exhaust note sounds the best of the three (yet I still prefer the Ferrari F12 exhaust note), since the engine is naturaly aspirated and thus the exhaust does not get muffled by having to go through turbo fans. They always overlook the fact that this car has the most powerful naturally aspirated engine in the world. That in my opinion is Ferrari's best achievement - They produce the most powerful naturaly aspirated engines. Its no big deal to achieve high speed and power by strapping on two huge turbos like in the case of the Hennessey Venom GT.
The design of that steering wheel is just so ugly. Why not keep the 458 steering wheel design? The car looks awesome in a rich blood red hue (the ONLY color of red that looks great on a car) but that front air intake would look so much more awesome if it was narrower and more pointed to the ground. I guess it has to be that way because its most likely a case of form following function (air flow).
Pity this car was tested on Ferraris private track, since this car needs a proper track were one can really open up the throttle. Can't wait to see Chris Harris take this car for a spin.
Your profile pic is of Lake McDonald in Glacier Park, yea?
Eisen Heim Actually its some lake in Canada.
Yet the Venom GT would blow this car away in pure speed so turbos have their place. I also happen to like the sound of turbos spooling and waste gates fluttering.
I thought Aston martins one77 was the most powerful
Son37Lumiere you are an ass dont know shit about cars
The best has arrived, the proper sports car. A real and racey engine with a great sound and modern aerodynamics. The drama needed in any sports car. Porsche went all in tech a la 959 and could not quite make it in all areas. All test drivers complained about the breaking feel when the regenerating kicked in and the car is too heavy. Mclaren kept going with a heavily turbo charged 3.8L engine and aero from the 80:s with a huge wing that rises 3 feet in the air. Not the best combination for an expensive and modern super car in 2014. Must say Ferrari got the best combination.
If you think the aero from the P1 looks like it's from the 80s you don't know enough about aerodynamics.
Peter Timowreef
Or hasn't lived in the 80s.
Peter Timowreef
I know enough to realize, like many others, that it's more of a race car for the road than the other way around. That wing span and it's action radios puts C-class Le mans racers to shame. And it's supposed to be modern sports car for the road.
Crossed
Oh ya, I live much longer than that. In 2014 these manufacturers are supposed to solve aerodynamics with more clever solutions and not the same old way. These kind of wings were popular in the 80:s and some in the 90:s. It's like Ferrari would build the new car like they did with F40, just with a more adjustable wing.
You're so clueless it's laughable. No wonder you're a Ferrari fan.
Who the hell even looks at the P1 after experiencing the LaFerrari?
Someone who wants to be able to drive the car anytime, be more reliable, and set faster laps.
nbrigdan Faster lap times? And you know this how?
918 or P1. This is too ugly...
Michael C.
Don't let your nationalistic pride get the best of you.
nbrigdan
And what makes you think that P1 is better at that? Go watch some in-cabin videos of P1 and see how good it is at driving any time. It has no sound proofing whatsoever, it's so hard it's like driving on cobblestones all the time, it's a race car for the road. Whereas the LaFerrari has a relatively upscale cabin, and 918 is like a pure luxury car in terms of it's interior compared to the P1. P1 is the most stripped out and hardcore of the three cars. And what makes you think it's going to be more reliable....or set faster lap times? And who cares about laptimes. Not that you will ever buy it, but even if you did, you would not be able to push either of these even near to their limit, not even on a track. And even if you did, differences would be very small and you would not notice them. You think being 10, or even 20 seconds per lap around Nurburgring makes the car so much better? A Corvette is faster than 458 around it....you think it drives nicer? It probably feels like an artificial piece of shit after driving the 458. What matters is the agility, precision, the feel of the car, and the control you have over it, the feedback you get from it, and the emotion it gives you while driving it, and this time, as ever, Ferrari nails it and totally outclasses everyone else in those terms. Remember that 12C is faster than 458 around the track and in the straight line, yet almost everyone, including all the British reviewers prefer the 458 and called it a better car. As far as I can remember, Tiff Niddel and Jason Plato (actual race drivers who know what they're talking about), found the 458 to be a far better car and were very disappointed by the 12C. The same will happen in this battle. 918 is already technically the most advanced and most well rounded of the three. As far as we know atm, it's the fastest around the track, it's by far the most efficient, most comfortable, refined, luxurious, usable everyday, and most probably will be the most reliable by far. Time will show that P1 will be the least impressive of the three even though it's been hyped up the most.
Can't wait til see Chris Harris review this
you might be waiting a while for that! He's officially banned from driving Ferrari press cars
djneils100 As far as I know, none of these are press cars. All 499 are owner cars, and they get permission from the owner for use in these videos.
djneils100 recently they changed their minds- they gave him F12 to review (if i remember correctly, he even mentioned that fact)
djneils100 why is that?
djneils100
You haven't seen Chris's reviews of the 458 spiders or the amazing F12 review on Drive? He isn't banned anymore man
I may be a minority here; but, the design does not seem beautiful to me. The enzo was amazing, as was the f40. Even though they may be only poster choices to me, i would rather have a p1 poster over this.
I am with you on this, the designs, to me seem like they were drawn up in a computer to maximize the areo properties, and styling wasn't that high on the list.
Plus, if you look at 9:20, the steering column looks plastic. :/
TheHeftyDanielson
And what are steering columns usually made of? Gold? Even a Rolls Royce Phantom has a plastic steering column. And sorry, you have to be completely blind to say that styling is not good on this car...this one of the most successful designs ever in the automotive industry.
derbigpr500
"this one of the most successful designs ever in the automotive industry" Sorry what are you talking about? And maybe they couldve made the column out of carbon fiber? You know, since this car is supposed to provide maximum performance and all that. Comparing it with a Rolls is just stupid.
Peter Timowreef
I'm talking about automotive design and engineering, something I've studied for 6 years on college. This car pretty much nails the balance between functionality of it's design and aesthetics. As for the steering column, do you know how much those two pieces of molded plastic around the steering column weigh in total? Making them out of carbon fibre would save you less weight than taking a piss before driving the car, and the whole steering column would lose a lot in terms of aesthetics. Imagine it in carbon fiber...going from black plastics and leather on the steering wheel itself, to carbon fiber on the column, then back to black plastics. It would look like a cheap aftermarket solution. This is the proper way to do it, nice and subtle, because the entire steering column together with the steering wheel has a uniform look to it.
I really don't like it not compared to the Porsche or mclaren would rather see chris harris driving it too lol
Whenever you watch reviews on the P1, testers seem to get the most thrill and awe out of the Mclaren. So no disrespect to this car as I'm a purist and I love the V12 sound; but I think Mclaren will be the fastest all round of the 3 cars.
We need that triple test! The three are so important for the industry and so directly in competition with each other - I hope you guys can manage it.
Great great review. Thank you for sharing that experience. Simply awesome!
The technology in this car makes it the ultimate driver's sports car.
This beats the Porsche and the McLaren by a long long way, on every level
It is a hyper-snail !
With its outstanding mirrors !
A nice collectors artisan for the showroom ! The crazy thing in this video is the camera mounting near the ground, extreme super racing footage !
Great video !
It's good to see such high quality productions on youtube
Brilliant car. Would take LaFerrari over P1 or 918 in a heartbeat, no question about it. Ferrari just keeps raising the bar, amazing beast indeed.
Awesome! Ferrari is always the Animal!
Can't await to come that technology to hatchbacks!
Great review. I've been waiting for someone to review this car, finally it has - thank you. It's better than I thought it would be but not surprised because it's a Ferrari.
I have been waiting sooooo long for this review!
OMGGG!!! he is easily going 270kph on a Fiorano straight, that is just nuts :D
that electro rush is interesting, in P1 it places to hide a turbo-lag (as it is unnoticable as ever) and in LaFerrari helps to get to higher revs quicker to gain top power as it is in natural aspirated engines, so it would be interesting to have this extra electric rush in supercharged engine as there is instant power already in low-revs :D
So the Akebonos in P1 are truly the best brakes, LaFerrari Brembos are behind only in reach-in, virtually in everyday traffic that is useful to have NO reach in, but who cares, if there would be enough €€€ on my account I would get both, LaFerrari and P1, maybe the 918 only if the Coupe comes, and with Quad-turbo 8-cylinder Boxer, then it would be more interesting, as it is it stays in the "everyday usability" preference and "hypercar bargain" segment :D
ohhh and the main advantage of 918 is that it can be still ordered as it is not limited or outsold as the P1 and LaF.
In terms of looks 918 > Laferrari > Dacia Sandero > P1. I only like those spaceship back lights of the P1. The rest is atrocious. The Porsche also has the best looking interior.
Spot on ranking!
***** thanks!
***** ok....and that was our opinion...
***** I Agree... I love both: the P1 and LaFerrari.
P1 > 918 > LaFerrari
WONDERFUL CAR! I was waiting this test drive from long long long time :D
LaFerrari is an intoxicating blend of earth-shattering performance and confidence-inspiring technology.
A 950bhp hypercar shouldn't be easy to drive, but this one is. That's the genius of LaFerrari, which takes the concept of driver aids that heighten rather than blunt the experience and propels it into a new dimension, which grafts F1 tech to a vast, traditional V12 to showcase the very best of Maranello old and new.
Put it this way. Christening this car ‘The Ferrari' was a high level gamble that could have backfired horribly. But really, the LaFerrari is just that. The Ferrari.
nice sales pitch bro
Having read Chris Harris' Ferrari review from a few years back which was reposted recently, I wonder whether this car was completely standard and also how much of this was edited to show Ferrari only in a positive light. For those that haven't read Chris' article, its very interesting to see how reviewer cars and customer cars from Ferrari can differ and well worth a read
Here's a link to the above mentioned article: jalopnik.com/5760248/how-ferrari-spins
David Starkie that article is now what 4 years old? You really wanna keep bashing on Ferrari after 4 years man? i mean why lol
just ask Chris Harris, without making allusions. Chris Harris on the 2015 LaFerrari and its commentary is great www.roadandtrack.com/car-reviews/first-drives/2015-ferrari-laferrari-first-drive-review-by-chris-harris
***** I'm just saying it's interesting how this is still the position. Do people give negative feedback on Ferrari reviews?
Just thought I'd throw this comment in from the 2nd posted article about the LaFerrari
"This of course happens at the Fiorano circuit. I'm always a little skeptical of drawing absolute dynamic conclusions of Ferrari product here for obvious reasons, but there's only one chance to drive this car."
Seems that despite it being an old article, and the fact Harris has an FF, its still something to consider
David Starkie From what I understand a lot of manufacturers tweak press cars and give manipulated specs. Most reporters know this already so you have to take everything with a grain of salt. When reporting a cars weight for example the company will give it's bone dry weight(no gas no oil or no wheels or brakes.) to make the car sound impressive. They will give maxed out optioned cars to reporters then give them the barebones sticker price. You need to give all reviews especially with high performance cars some flexibility. As well as realize things like lap times are meaningless with normal non pro drives are behind the wheel.
The car of cars....
My God! I was bracing myself sitting in front of the PC watching that guy driving on track! Fantastic! But the best part is when he promisses a comparo with the P1 and the 918 Spyder! Top vid.
So good that we could only post it in 360p.
i literally love it. I don't know if I'd choose it over P1, but I suppose so...
I think that he was enjoying himself more and was more involved driving the P1. It seemed to make a greater impression on him.
i think it would have been the same if he was able to test the LaFerrari first...and then the P1.
It's not just a car, it's a masterpiece and a work of art
That V12 sounds sensational. What a scream. So much better than any turbo or supercharged engine.
I wish my missus made noises like that.
I think it's the engine noise that draws me to Ferrari. The 918 and the P1 sound incredible but the Ferrari just sings. That's the real reason Ferrari didn't want an electric mode, if you're shopping for a Ferrari you want to hear the engine all the time. I'm looking forward to seeing which one is faster but LaFerrari is the most exciting to me. Even with a stupid name.
I like the fact that it's NA.. Seems like people might over sell the P1 because of that boost, which i agree is one addictive drug, and i couldn't imagine how addictive it would be in a 950hp hypercar. Both are awesome pieces of machinery though.
Great video, by the way what model of sunglasses do you wear? They rocks !!!
Great car, great video on track, thank you guys for this awesome video. Next try to line it up against its hyper rivals and more rubber if they allow you guys
Finally some reviews on this car!
Im quite surprised Ferrari is letting journalists in the LaFerrari. The F50, Enzo, and so on Ferrari didn't want the media testing their cars
The journalists have driven the LaFerrari quite a while ago, but Ferrari put an embargo on them not publishing anything about the car until today or face a $70,000 fine and a decapitated horses head being left on their pillow.
i thought TopGear did a review on the Enzo?
Shade Zepheri They got the Enzo from Nick Mason a private owner not Ferrari themselves
TacoSeniour i know but wouldnt ferrari be after them...
Shade Zepheri They don't care as long as Ferrari gets a sale. Even if Ferrari did care they couldnt do anything it wasnt theirs anymore
What song is playing at the end of the video?
Amazing stuff btw
Awesome review! Could have made it a bit longer but still loved it.
this video changed my thoughts on the Laferrari. But if you watch the P1 and Ferrari videos back to back, he just seems more astonished by the P1. The La ferraris looks have grown on me but from all the videos I've seen the reviewers seem more struck by the P1, such a hard choice I admit... but I think the P1 is still more superior. More practical, and more groundbreaking, although Im very amazed at the Ferrari's outcome as well, their both revolutionary cars in themselves, the Porsche as well.
This car is amazing for what it is but the outside looks like a kit car, and the interior just doesn't compare to 918. I love how each of the three is different and unique, my pick is still the 918. You get much more for your money in almost every category in the 918. Any of these 3 is a great choice, can't wait what the future holds.
Big Motor Trend fan here, but I must say the production Evo has going for itself is A1. It would be Top Gear status if the writer and host were on par with the British RatPack. Love this series!
Can't wait for the epic episode comparing all three hybrid super cars!
Kick ass. How would you compare the steering in this against the F12?
Oh! Try to get the Sesto Elemento in that comparison review also, please!
The sesto elemento isn't road legal and shouldn't even be compared to this, the P1 and the 918 spyder.
Only Ferrari knows how to build sports and racing cars, everything else is not worthy of mention.
Narciso Morfin you're*
Narciso Morfin Hit a nerve, did I?
Not at all, but your remark about Ferrari is so untrue. you're telling me Mclaren, Porsche and even Ford doesn't deserve credit for what they have done to auto racing? Do you know your history? Sounds like you're a fan boy. This LaFerrari is a Beast BTW, but you, you're more like a stump.
Narciso Morfin Porsche and Ferrari are better at translating a race car feel into their road cars, though.
Vince van Hasselt I ment facking lol
I thought nothing could really beat the Mclaren P1 but the LaFerrari is truly an amazing car! What a noise!
Great review, thank you.
I used to get more excited driving my S2000. How does this guy get paid to drive the worlds best cars and produce these lifeless reviews?
He has the same reaction as if you were sitting on front of your computer watching people talking...
@@SamSpeed90 they drive so many that they run into one another.
David Lee - world renown Ferrari collector and afficiando said it perfectly.
He said LaFerrari is so brilliantly programmed that it quote "makes you feel like you're a way better driver than you really are."
Majestic.
In all honesty, this is a great review, but I really hope Chris Harris does another review like he did with the P1 and 918. His reviews are by far, in my opinion, the best someone can watch!
Ferrari has taken it to the next level with this car. It really is beauty married with science. They are the closest to understanding the kind of appreciation Pagani has for art and cars.
I don't see a point in allowing anyone but the top reviewers talk about cars like this one. All he talked about in the entire video was how fast it was, and stated the obvious facts that you can look up in 30 seconds. Look. I know the thing is fast. A 960hp car with a dry weight of 1255kg is going to be fast, that's just a fact. I didn't get any interesting information out of this entire review at all. I did enjoy the sound and the filming & editing equally so. I however don't see any need in having the journalist say anything throughout the video based on everything he said.
someone give chris harris one of these
I got excited when I saw this video was available. Everything stopped, head phones on. Not the same level of review as the Porsche and P1 - but that's more Ferrari's location and press style than EVO's angle. Everything in this review was expected, apart from the comment about it being much better than the Porsche. The Porsche set an amazing time at the ring, and this was due to the confidence the Porsche gave the driver + performance and handling. Where is Ferrari's time?
Sorry EVO... AUTOCAR beat you guys by a few minutes. lol
Perhaps, but this is a superior review.
Yeah but AUTOCAR may have to pay Ferrari 70,000USD for their early release so we shall see who wins
Porsche 911 It says on my screen the Autocar vid was at two minutes past and EVO at 10 past. Both close, but neither early.
VRTEGO75 AUTOCAR uploaded a video an hour early. It since has been taken down.
Porsche 911 Nope. You're thinking of Sport-Auto.
jalopnik.com/does-this-magazine-owe-ferrari-70-000-for-early-laferr-1569508004?
Unless you have some contradictory proof.
I'm surprised one hasn't caught fire yet.
Im surprised you can write comments online given your stupidity....
It's not a Porsche.
Andrea Lumpp
Butt hurt alert, you have a Ferrari badge as your display picture, you know it's true.
donnyinlakai561
More 458's have caught fire than GT3's
Talon276 At least he's not a pathetic troll.
The P1 comes across like the race car on the road and fastest on track. The 918 probably the fastest on the road. The La Ferrari probably the most fun on both road and track though maybe not as fast as the P1 on track or 918 on road. They're all incredible however you look at it! Big thanks to the trio!!
Whats the song at the end called? Gives a nice dramatic effect!
I have no earthly idea where this guy got the idea that the P1 trumped the 918. The 918 put down a time. The P1 did not. The 918 was built for any public road in the world. The P1 is not even road legal in top form. The 918 has more hybrid power and range. Sometimes I think Englishman are so keen to wax poetic on a British car after waiting decades to talk about anything good, they forget both themselves and the data.
Was thinking the same. McLaren probably haven't released the lap time due to it not beating the 918 despite the P1's, "race tech." Just hiding from embarrassment.
Where are you getting that info from? The P1 is road legal.
Tobi Ogunsanwo "The P1 is not even road legal in TOP FORM" Reading people, it isn't hard.
Porsche 911 Lmao, grabbing at straws are we?
You go to UD?
The Ferrari definitely trumps the other two hyper cars on sound, that's for sure. But I think both the McLaren and the Porsche are "better", more advanced, more futuristic cars. The P1 is probably the best overall package of the three. And the 918 has the best looks, hands down.
918 looks simple and ordinary, with a frog looking front (it's a porsche, duh) and an interesting simple rear. In the other hand, the P1 and ferrari's new ferrari the ferrari "ferrari laferrari" looks fucking extreme and futuristic unlike the old looking carrera g.. I mean the 918 whatever.
The 918 is the best all around car. Its cheaper, gets better mpg than any other car on the planet, a convertible, fastest prod. car around nurb, 2.5 secs to 60mph, 7.1 secs to 124mph, best interior by far making it more luxurious, top end exhausts pipes, 18 miles at 93mph silently, and definitely the easiest to drive of the three with 4wd and 4ws. The 918 is too unique, advance, and practical to be below any car to date.
It wasn't built for drag racing but would kill any vehicle today in a cross country trip.
On the Cheap Part agreed..But Sense of occasion feel Looks be it anything laferraris the champ it seems from the review.
No nonsence power assist of the hy kers i fell is better than the dedicated battery assist or whatever in the Others. My point is Hands down anything closest to the F1 ever at todays date. Beats P1 918 hands down
Subhankar Paul It the sense of occasion that the other two lack. Maclaren did not learn from their mistake with 12C and Porsche has gone tech crazy again, a la 959. Ferrari is the only one that fully understands that super cars or sports cars are not just about numbers but also have to create a certain allure. Park a 12C next to a 458 and you see Mclarens mistake clearly. That while Mclaren talks about how it's soft and good as a daily driver, lol. Porsche has always been Ferrari's little brother so there is no reason to even compare. But both 918 and P1 on their own are great cars.
For the reasons I stated above people with common sense would understand what I said.
Another great review from EVO.
A great car, a great track, a great driving and a great review. Thanks EVO. :)
I think the P1 will actually be quicker than this around a track.
Imagine 400 more hp, there you have the Koenigsegg One..
imagine 1000hp more, there you have the underground gallardo
As much as I love the one:1 I have a feeling it won't be as responsive as the P1, LaFerrari and even the 918 on a track, on a straight line yes, but when it comes to putting power down and cornering grip, and cornering exit speed and acceleration, the three are hard to beat! Remember electric motors do not have to spool up to make power unlike the Koenigsegg in which case it is turbo charged to the fullest to throttle response will not match the other 3 even with variable turbine tech!
jeremihraiden that's why you have a gearbox so you can stay at the best rpm. Also, out of corners you must go smoothly on the throttle, not like 100 hp to 1300 directly..
Imagine more 31998659hp and you have the Saturn V... Seriously, bhp doesn't mean anything.
Except for the top speed, One will be slower than Laferrari in almost every metric... And will be heavier as well, so let's see.
Even if this car is a Masterpiece and I really love Ferrari's, I've a feeling that around a track P1 will be faster than LaFerrari, but that's just a feeling.
Bill Gates a = F/m
Great to see they have brake regen working so well.
If Evo gets this, the p1 and the 918 together. My head will explode!
awesome. so everyone delievers, yet porsche to me at least seems to have the most impressive package.
I WILL GO SO FAR,AS TO AGREE WITH YOU- to a point.
I do believe as well, that the porsche IS AN INCREDIBLE FEAT OF ENGINEERING. Petrol v8,Electric motors,4 wheel drive, air conditioning, sound system. That porsche got it ALL TO WORK IN HARMONY IS AMAZING.
The Mclaren is the vehicle i would choose of the 3,just because i love the looks and,i have fallen in love with a friends 12C. Iknow it can be used as a daily driver. Some years ago i thought i could get a PORSCHE 959 CHEAP.Then i checked on the cost of maintenance and,it was astronomical.THE 918 IS EVEN MORE COMPLEX.
Ferrari, just throws a couple of batteries in there. But they put a BEAUTIFUL SOUNDING V12 in there and, everybody loves the car.i am curious as to how it will perform on a bigger, more demanding track than fiorano.
Is it just me or was he unable to really quantify the three cars? I think has driven all of them…that fact that he can't even give a "best" of in any particular department bugs a little too...
Yeah he was very on the fence when comparing them and in my view a little too kiss ass of the Ferrari. That said most reviewers will be kiss ass with Ferrari due to how they operate and like to have strict control of their branding.
He probably wants to save that talk for the video where they physically have all three cars together to compare.
2016 Just asking could not i achieve the same results in a hyped up 99 saleen mustang did not lotus do there suspension.
This mad man is drifting/powerslidding a LaFerrari...My HERO! haha Great review!
"Porsche showing its hand, and then McLaren trumping them?" Yeah, the P1 and LaFerrari have more horsepower but the 918 could be the best all-round and has come out ahead in many tests.
Personally, I think the 918 is the best looking as well! I love the smooth, curved shape. Just my opinion.
I agree!
