    What a great video, i was having some of these problems on my 85 Elco and i disassembled the door panel to try to figure it out. But you took all the guess work out! Thanks so much for taking the time to put this video together!

    Do one on adjusting the windows to bring them in

    • @DixieRestorationDepot
      @DixieRestorationDepot  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your windows are pushed out, your felt guides are likely too loose and when the window rolls up they are not pushing the lower edge of the glass so it tilts in.

  • @Jgatesjr89
    @Jgatesjr89 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So I bought a Monte and it doesn’t even have the felt guides at all. No hardware just an empty hole. Any idea where I can get some.

    • @DixieRestorationDepot
      @DixieRestorationDepot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, new felt guides aren't available yet, a parts car is your best bet and you can re-apply felt to them. The good news is all 2 door G-body felt guides are the same.

    I have made adjustments to all and have a problem at the back of my glass. it seems to be high enough to the roof rail yet it has a gap on the back edge on the top 6 inches or so,while the bottom or the rear is tight & the front edge looks tight top to bottom. Any ideas?

    • @DixieRestorationDepot
      @DixieRestorationDepot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check to make sure your rear felt guide isn't too tight, many times I see this because the felt guide won't let the window roll all the way up, feel free to email me at Info@dixierestoration.com with a few pictures and I will take a look at your setup.

    At 50mph or better my windows roll up outside the blowouts. When parked or under 50mph, windows roll up where they are supposed to be. Is this usually an alignment issue or something wore? out

    • @DixieRestorationDepot
      @DixieRestorationDepot  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      First, are you sure the window is rolling all the way up? if yes, I wonder if you have air coming into your door and pushing the window out at speed. Yes, the windows will push out eventually, they just should not at 50. Give us a call and we can go through it with you.

    How do you adjust the blow out clip? It keeps catching when the door gets closed.

    • @DixieRestorationDepot
      @DixieRestorationDepot  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The blow out clip is riveted in place, if you are hitting the blowout clip when you close the door, your glass stops should be adjusted as the window is too high.

    What do I need to do or replace if my window won't stay up/rolls itself down while I drive?

    • @DixieRestorationDepot
      @DixieRestorationDepot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have crank windows, I would check the large gear on the regulator and see if it is missing teeth, or if the teeth are heavily worn. On a power window, I would check the same gear, but take a look at the power window motor as well because the pinion gear on the motor may be heavily worn and allowing the window to droop.

    • @ArlowFarrell
      @ArlowFarrell 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DixieRestorationDepot I do have manual crank windows, and that big moon shaped saw gear has all it's teeth and they aren't worn. What exactly (which part) is responsible for "holding" the glass where you leave it? Thank you for the reply, by the way.

    • @ArlowFarrell
      @ArlowFarrell 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DixieRestorationDepot Do you happen to know of an individual or shop or company that I could pay to figure out this window thing for me? This is the one piece of the whole car that I can't get right/find an expert in. They just roll themselves down with vibration/over bumps and I don't know if the regulator is even responsible for keeping a window in place.

    Great video...question.... I have a 85 Monte; Is there a way to adjust the window from leaning too far inward towards the cab of the car? Thanks

    • @DixieRestorationDepot
      @DixieRestorationDepot  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your window is leaning too far inward when the window is rolled up, your felt guides are too tight against the glass, try backing them off slightly and let me know how that works.

    • @miguelmaldonado9881
      @miguelmaldonado9881 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Theres another adjustment for this problem, its all the way at the bottom, 2 screws in and out. Also theres a guide on top when it goes up the pin is suppose to go inside the oval hole, this also keeps the window tight in the up position. Hope that helps

    • @jordanwiley4582
      @jordanwiley4582 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The driver's side window instead of being in the middle of the seal all the way up, it tapers off to the outside towards the blow out clip. the passenger side is tight, has the original felt in good shape, and is in the middle of the seal all the way up. it matches the curvature of the A pillar, while the driver's side does not. @@DixieRestorationDepot

    • @jordanwiley4582

      But since the seal is worn to the window being that way, should I just wait until I get new seals to adjust it?

    • @DixieRestorationDepot

      @@jordanwiley4582 Trying to adjust the glass into a worn out seal is harder than a new seal most of the time, if you plan on replacing them I would get them as close as you can and wait until you replace them to go any further.
