SEM has an excellent product line (I've been selling their products for over 30 yrs). I used Color Coat on the seat belt webbings for my 65 Tempest. I thought for sure the 1st time I moved the belt buckes the paint would never rub off. Never a problem and the stuff wears like iron! Thanks Grant!
Im doing a 77 impala 4 door red on red and I too have panels that are sunburned faded with the white ashy look on them that I'm going to need to redo and this looks like it just might do it
@@Str8sixfanWhat did you use to apply the soap prep? Was it a sponge? Couldn’t quite tell. You should start listing the items you use in videos like this one. Only say this because some TH-camrs do that. About to order everything else you used here for my ‘79 GP, but want to know what used to apply the soap prep. Thanks bro! Keep the videos coming!
I've read upholstery books and they say to spray rubber cement ..a good layer and then use that pattern or material to imprint the design..then paint..hope that makea sense
Can you tell me which SEM Color Coat would closely match Saddle Tan from an 87 Silverado truck? Also I'd love to see you do more SEM stuff. Their products truly are awesome.
I'd really need to hold up a physical sample of saddle tan trim and compare it to the color chart in daylight to feel confident in the recommendation. When I get home, I'll double check though and see if they have one that matches your description. On the back side they do have a few colors relating specific to GM products
You young guys saying you want to update your old cars with odd things. I had one guy back in the '80's say he changed the turn signal flasher because the newer cars flashed faster and he wanted the newer faster flash for his 1967 Pontiac Lemans.
Great informative informative video but i wanted to see them finished. On another note. Seriously dude invest in some antiperspirant and some mens shoes. Flip flops are women's shoes and never trust a man if you can see his toes !
@@bigbeardodge7510 Sorry to disappoint! I really don't give a damn about your footwear but thanks for watching. Wear steel toe boots on the job site and honestly feel perfectly comfortable in flip flops, but I realize you probably don't care either. And I have since purchased a respirator but when I'm outside I usually don't wear it.
@⁰Str8sixfan seriously bud that is great work! As far as the flip flops I'm just messing with you. I just really hate flip flops and even more when men wear them. I even hate when women wear them. Anyways good work bud!
I’ve heard this described as Achy Breaky plastics by the Car Wizard. It’s so funny because it’s so true. Polishing turds is an art.
Polishing a turd for sure!

Early returns are I'm pretty impressed with the product
I'm currently restoring an 81 Malibu 4dr thanks for these videos!
Oh dude! That's awesome! This comment is exactly why I do these vids! That makes my day!
hey LuisK any pics ? I also have a 4 door bu - police edition
Same! 1981 Malibu Classic with the faded and dusty plastic door panels

Looks like they turned out great. Can't wait to see them reinstalled to see the transformation. Great Video!!
lots to do for sure to get it put back together
I'm curious to see how the pattern pads worked. 👍🏼
They didn't. Am guessing it is meant more for like impressing on the Bondo repairs on a cracked dash or something
@@Str8sixfan ahh. Gotcha.
1st of all, running shirt on a car channel?….YES!…also great job on the trim.
Yea, I really need to get back into it, been awhile since I ran a race

That's an interesting technique, and it does make sense
Very cool how-to
appreciate that. Hope it was easy to watch!
@@Str8sixfan It was.. but honestly, I need more! lol

that will do it good job
I think you're right! Thanks for watching!
That trim gets very brittle here. Hard to keep it one piece.
In all honesty, the rest of the integrity of these plastics were in pretty good shape. I was lucky in that regard!
Must have been warm out your shirt on the intro made me gasp. OMG he has managed to start lactating! 😜
yea it was extremely humid that day!

hot rodders gonna hot rod
Looks great.
thx Erik
Wear a mask when spraying solvents...and anything else 😷😀
good call. I'm usually good at most other safety precautions - eye wear, earplugs. I need a good respirator, do you suggest any in particular?
