- Here's an F1 onboard lap driving at Mondello Park in Ireland. This Formula 1 hotlap is driven in Assetto Corsa with Lando Norris in the RSS Formula Hybrid 2020 using the F1 2020 McLaren MCL35 livery.
Mondello Park is an FIA Grade 4 track that is 3.621 km long and consists of 13 turns that was designed by Stuart Cosgrave. Opened in 1968, it is the only Irish only international motorsport venue in Ireland. It hosts a variety of British racing series.

Mondello is lovely little racetrack. I got to do a track day a few years ago in a little single seater and it was massive fun. Lots of elevation changes. Good fun in games too. 👌🏻👌🏻

Ah Mondello Park. My favourite memory was watching an ex of mine doing a drag race for charity (all female models & celebs). They all drove the same car, brand new Lotus Elise (I think) and she drove the whole length of the straight in FIRST gear and I could smell the clutch from the top level of the Grandstand. She came last but I'll never forget the look on the face of the Dude who owned the dealership who'd lent the cars for the day. Priceless.

@@Mitsos1311 yes i did. If the funds were there and i was in charge of Ireland i would upgrade Mondello Park to FIA Grade 1 and go to ends of the earth to get an F1 GP in Ireland.
Thanks so much for doing my request ,mondello the track of my homeland🇮🇪. As much as I love mondello and it’s flow I think it’s quite a few millions off of a grade 1 license. It’d be great to see Grand Prix racing return to the Emerald Isle someday. Speaking of, yes Ireland did have some Grand Prix in the pre war era in the 20s/30s. It ran on a street circuit in Phoenix park, the largest city park in Europe. Sort of like the Melbourne Grand Prix today. I’m not sure if you’ll find a mod for it but it’d be sick to see a modern day car around it.

I'd love to see F1 race in Ireland, but...woof. As flowing as this track is, it's way too narrow and short. Like, they don't even get up to 8th gear on the straight :/
Also my next reccomendation is the Brainerd International Raceway Donnybrooke Layout :)

Wow, I didn't know it was such a slow track. More for the Hungaroring style. An F1 race in these conditions would be difficult. However, I believe it is a great track for MotoGP. Great lap 👍🏻

It has big hungaroring energy. Not nearly enough run off for F1. It’s FIA grade 2 AFAIK
@@hughjass3434Sorry I'm so late but Ireland doesn't need a big track and this track is perfect in small F4 cars and go karts. Mondello is also for motorcycle races and a more rally esc races

I agree I’d love to see the f1 circus come here but knowing the greedy pocket-stashing prats in our government sadly I don’t think it’ll ever happen. They don’t even give money to the homeless never mind a race track🙁

@@daradevlin4093 the track is too narrow anyway. It's an extremely tricky track in it's own right.
@@ThisIsMyRodrick It has a very undulating nature, with the corners becoming off camber & banked turns in a very unpredictable manner, which makes the long corners especially challenging. It's therefore tricky to master, so having this track your home turf would grant a major advantage (Think Verstappen in Zandvoort ).

As much as I’d love to see a Grand Prix in my home country mondello would need quite the lot of funding of making an f1 race happening. It’s a decent length and a nice flow but there’s a *big* run off problem plus the lack of a proper drs straight. There’s some area the track could expand to but knowing the twats in charge of the Irish government I doubt the circuit could get the investment it needs to happen. There’s always Phoenix park at the end of the day tho

Very good track however too short and narrow probably for an F1 GP. It’s Ireland’s only motor racing circuit. I went there once for a truck race in 2017. The grandstand to the left of the front stretch isn’t as small as you might think.
Looking forward to the Welsh GP at Anglesey followed by the Scottish GP at Knockhill ;)

If Ireland ever has it's own F1 GP, it wouldn't be here. Mondello is effectively Magny-Cours with the narrowness rivalling Monaco. Meaning very few overtaking & the racing would be very bad.
Ireland actually DID host a F1 GP, but this during the interwar period in the 1930s, and it wasn't even called Formula 1. The even was actually hosted at Phoenix park, but it's layout was a typical high speed track of that time: long straights with hairpins on either end. This wouldn't suit today's F1 cars either.
A street race in Dublin wouldn't be feasible either. We could come up with a layout that's a bit like Baku city circuit, sandwiching the river Liffey, but this would basically put Dublin into a lockdown, as the roads that are wide enough to facilitate F1 racing, are major arteries of Dublin's road network. This, on top of resurfacing the terrible road surface, typical of Ireland (this will probably take 3 years, plus a 5 year delay considering the pace of typical Irish roadworks). TLDR, street races are unviable as it would be major inconvenience.
The problem with a permanent race track is that Ireland doesn't have an established motor racing (or even automobile) industry that justifies a race track. It will be the only FIA grade 1 race track as well, so it will likely need to be built like a test track, to account for possible racing teams that may base themselves in Ireland. Testing tracks however tend not to produce great races, from what I recall (Think tracks like Magny-Cours, Barcelona, Hungary), they test a car's capabilities well, but usually ends up in not so good racing. This new track would need to be something like Suzuka, in that, it would need to be a good test track & produce great racing & historical moments, if this track will ever be worth it.
Summary: the Irish GP is probably never going to happen, as much as it would be great for the Irish to have their home GP, in a country of unique culture. This also considering that the British GP is held literally next door, and all of the F1 teams base themselves there (except Ferrari, who are based in Maranello Italy)..... :((
