It's ok honey girl. I'm 68 years old, been a B&D fan since they began. I've heard this song over a hundred times, and I still tear up when I hear it again. I fully get where your heart is, because mine is there too. Merry Christmas from Texas!

Sometimes tears show that we are still alive. I'm in my 70's, retired. When I was young, my Grandpa had a new scientific trinket to teach us all about science every time we visited. He had grape arbors and an oasis of trees around his house in the desert. He taught me to spin a top. That top, with it's string still wound, sits on my mantle today. It sits beside my uncle's pocketknife that he gave me on my 8th birthday. My Grandma had died before I was born. He lived a simple life alone with his scientific magazines. He died when I was in college. I cried, I stood at the window and just looked out. It was mostly my loss of someone who could listen and offer advice. This song just rips at my heart. It's OK to cry.

You hit the nail on the head when you were talking about the older generation. I guess we just want you all to see what we've seen and be touched by what touched us that may be hidden with the passage of time. Our children and grandchildren are kind and loving but have other things to accomplish. They try to stay attentive to us but they have their own lives. These reaction channels that I follow have done me so much good. Just to watch you all react to music and other things that shaped a generation. Thank you

I'm 59 now and wishing I had a way of capturing the stories of the family the elders would tell when I was a kid. Now they're all gone and I have pictures of people I don't know nor their stories of their lives.
We have the technology to capture all of that for the future generations to watch/listen and learn their own history

I volunteered at a nursing home when I was in Jr. High. That and karate, motocross and racing carts and bikes kept me busy. At the end of the day though, I always looked forward to seeing the elderly the most. Painting their nails, brushing their hair or just sit and hold hands and talking....what a wonderful resource these people are and how few realize it. I adore your wife so much. Neon Moon came out around the same time.. Neon Moon was my favorite song of theirs for decades.. till I heard this one about 2 yrs ago.. I cry every time I hear it.. facts. I love this song so much.. I was touched by the comment about a channel for interviewing the elderly... As a retired Paramedic, there were so many opportunities to sit and listen to stories from the greatest Generation while en-route from one hospital to another, or from their home to a hospital.... Simple questions can lead to extended tales, and many of those tales are no longer with us.... What a Beautiful idea.... but be ready, many of them have a lifetime of stories to share....

I grew up in a very rural area in Texas. The area was founded by German immigrants, and they were all farmers or ranchers of one kind or another. I was very fortunate to witness those amazing families working their land and cattle daily. One of the most amazing people I watched was a very elderly woman who, even at her very advanced age (back in the early 1970s), ran her little farm. I would ride my bike every once in a while to the front of her place and watch her bring her enormous bull to the roadside in front of her farm. She had a ring in its nose and a chain so it could eat the grass along the roadside. Then, in the evening, she would bring it back into the pen. She reminded me of Granny Clampet with how she dressed in her long work dress, apron, bonnet, and boots.
Makes me very sad I didn't get to know her... but she was always out working, caring her her animals until she passed. She was the very last of her kind. If you didn't know better, you'd have thought she was living back in the 1800s.

I have heard this song 100's of times and I still cry! I used to volunteer in a nursing home when I was in jr. high and high school. I would read to residents, visit with them, and learned to play poker . My grandparents were married later in life and my grandma had my mom when she was 40 years old. I thankfully had my grandpa until I was 24 years old, and my grandmother until I was 32 years old. She lived a nice long life. I wish I would have asked more questions about growing up in the early 1900's, the great depression, etc. She remembered when the Titanic sunk, and we talked about that when the movie came out. We moved away, when I was little, so visitation was typically summers and holidays. I miss them every single day!! I think I am going to volunteer at one of my local nursing homes. It was so rewarding. Great reaction!! Thank you!!

I understand how she feels. I lost my grandpa back in 2007. We were with him at the very end. He was a World War II veteran, and as she said, the best man I've ever known. He would tell us all these stories, some of them it seemed like 200 times, but I'd give a lot to hear him tell them all again.
I was a friend to quite a few old timers, if you'll pardon the expression. Hard working, old roughneck people. They were good and I learned a lot. They became family to me. The last one of them left in 2022, and it still breaks me up to think about it.
Cherish it while you got it, because it goes by way too damn fast. It doesn't matter how many years you have with them, it'll never seem like enough.

Loved meeting you. I’m a 68 old country woman raised in Mississippi. And I was really excited about the old folk interviews. I have
Recently met an old 92 year old man that walkes all bent over and I sat down with him and he was a WWII vet then he had worked with NASA. And was on the work with John Glen. So much history that who would have ever thought of someone in bowtown South Georgia. And at 68 being a farm woman. I can tell you all about farming to skydiving - baling hay - motorcycle rides speeds up to 153 - semi truck driving - wielding -but don’t ask about dressing up -my dressing up was
Rodeo style - not going to proms- but bull riding in the back plaster on Sunday afternoons - knowing I was gonna get in trouble with my dad. But the excitement of riding bulls with my brothers was worth the belting from Daddy.

This is beautiful. I’ve been a BND fan for a long time and I haven’t heard this. Another song for dear Wifey, who has such a big ol’ heart, is the John Prine (master songwriter) song, “Hello in There”. I cried when John Prine died. I miss his love of music and songwriting. He knew the human heart and translated that to music.

When I was 9 years old an old man used to sit on his porch in the summertime, I used to go over by him and talk to him. He was so happy to have company that he would cut off one of his flowers and to ld me to give it to my mother because she raised such a good little boy. I really didnt understand at the time but as a grew older it was simply because I stopped to talk to him as he must have just loved that I acknowledged him. This was back in the early 70s and I will never forget him 😌💗

DO IT. Start those interviews. I am here for it. My husband and I swing dance, and we do demos at some of the nursing homes and assisted living places around here. When we turn on that swing , jump blues and early rock n roll, their faces really light up. And then the STORIES start coming out. Some of these grandmas led some pretty spicy lives!!!!

I was standing in line to say goodbye to one of my best friends who had passed away.
This song breaks me every time. I never skip the song, and I never will.

I listen to this song over and over . Brings back memories from my youth in Arkansas. Seniors are not respected in todays world, regarded as a burden. People look right through you. Just rem they are our history, our wisdom. Thats important. Take care of our seniors. Love B&D

Man this song gets me....there was an old man that lived down the road from me when I was a kid. Old rancher...didn't have any family left, but he was family to us. I cried for days when he passed. And tear up every time I think about it. That was 35 years ago and I can see him as clear as a picture in my mind.
Thank you for doing this song....thank you

This song is still hard to get through. My son had a couple of older guys down the street that he befriended. They were brothers. They were so good to him, and they were good, solid male influences . He'd go there to watch westerns or walk their dog when his sisters drove him nuts. One has passed, and I know that since my son is grown, he and the remaining brother aren't as close. This song reminds me of them and how much they meant to our whole family. It's bittersweet.
