I went out to survey their land.. they showed me their cat that they had outside, well.. what was left of it.. see they found it after hearing some commotion outside one night. the coyoted had chased it up onto their porch and cornered it. it literally pealed more than half of its fur from its body by the time the owners had gotten outside.. the coyoted took off and the cat died shortly after being found.. they said it screamed in pain all the way up to the moment it died.. so no.. it being in a bit of stress for the first bit is no where near as bad as what a coyote will do to pets. it may be stressed at first, but it will adapt and it will become routine.
@@Dave_Albright Cats are invasive, it's better for them and the animals out there that they just stay in. An outdoor cat shouldn't be unsupervised, they can do some serious damage to the ecosystem.

Just like at the Rodeo!! We had no idea there were such bonds of affection between our two animals!

An outdoor cat adopted me when I lived in an apartment. She wanted inside, then back out, over and over. I replaced the glass window over a window swamp cooler, with plexiglass that I had the hardware store cut for me. I had a square cut from the bottom for a cat door, taped it back on so it swung in and out. The cat would jump up onto the swamp cooler to come back in, sometimes just sat on it watching birds. She did stay indoors more then, maybe because she wasn't stressed about being able to get back out.

I had a little black female cat years and years ago. I would take her down to my dad's fishing camp and we would stay down there for weeks at a time during the summer, so she became quite familiar with the property boundaries of our camp. One day a friend of my dad's came by and his two Labradors came bounding onto dad's property when out of nowhere, my cat sprang and hit one then the other of those dogs straight in the face and had them tumbling over themselves running away. Dad wasn't much of a cat person, but he got a real kick out of how my cat took on both of those big dogs with no fear. Dad later told me when I wasn't down there with my cat, dogs would poop on his property but never when I and my cat were there. LOL When my cat passed from old age, dad allowed me to bury her at the camp because he said she loved it so much down there.
Oh yeah people underestimate them. They don't fk around. Me and my child were foolishly floating by ourselves down the river once on inner tubes probably too late in the day and I heard them howling from the left side of the river. I made us paddle right. The were talking to each other I'm sure of it. Walking back to town on the other side of the river miles to the first bridge? That would have gone badly I'm sure of it. Fortunately we got out on the right side and had Mom waiting for us on the road right there. Other side was just desert though no roads until the bridge. At least 2 miles. If I heard 3+ howling I assume there were 10+ of them.
@@Drak976 They certainly saw your child and assessed the situation for dinner. But that said coyotes even though ferocious still aren't as ferocious as leopard in Africa. I happen to just see a leopard killing a jackal about a coyote size. The Jackal was hunting birds and didnt know the leopard was hunting it. When the leopard went for the kill it lasted barely 2 seconds and the jackal was paralyzed from the neck down, precise bite in the neck, and that's with the jackal mounting a maximum defense that you could hear and see but only lasted about ... 0.5 seconds. Now that is one animal that would also virtually kill any of these coyotes or pairs but of course they don't live in the same ecosystem.

This is a prime example of why acting like a predator and not prey is super important.

Truth.
Never ever leave small animals unattended/unsupervised in your yard. Coyotes can easily jump over 6 feet fences and even get through tiny cracks or opening.
Nighttime is very importent for outdoor cats! Don't lock them in the house!. Dying under cortisole (stress) is more painful than dying under adrenaline (bite). Cats always control their area at night. It's pure stress for a outdoor cat, not controll their area!
@DTtaleChara- "Not only bite they would get eaten duh that's worse than just stress"
Ouch... please get your facts right.
@@Dave_Albright what is it with morons like you that think they have to put their two cents in, when they have no idea what they are talking about ? I mean seriously, people like you make a good argument for abortion. every thing you said is false. let someone who has hunted theses things for years tell you what they do to pets. I got a call from a couple who wanted me to come out and take out the coyotes that were stalking their pets on their property.. they had already lost one and that is when I got the call..
@@Dave_Albright So keep the cat indoors. Trust me, they do perfectly fine. Neither of my two even wants to go outside
@@Dave_Albright Cats are invasive, it's better for them and the animals out there that they just stay in. An outdoor cat shouldn't be unsupervised, they can do some serious damage to the ecosystem.

Never cease to amaze me how cat suddenly turns into a bravest tiger in a blink of eyes.
We had a small dog who was friends with our Manx. He was doing his business in our front yard, when he was attacked by a large black german shepherd-mix. The Manx leaped over the fence onto the attacker's back, dug in her claws, and rode it down the street, howling in pain, and leaped off half a block later, as the mutt neared his home. Just like at the Rodeo!! We had no idea there were such bonds of affection between our two animals!
I think if you live in Coyote country its probably higher walls and some sort of repellant (do they dislike electric fences as well)? I know thats kind of expensive but if you have small pets its worth the price.
It's not affection. The shepherd invaded the cat's territory.
@@tedolphbundler724 Same difference. This is my dog and you can't hurt it. Is it because it's your property or your fur baby? Doesn't matter it's yours and you're not going to let it get hurt/damaged. @pauline I'd say go out there with a gun. They can probably see it they can almost for sure smell the gun oil/propellant. Living near the wilderness is srs bzns. If I ever lived in the mountains I'd want a gun that could shoot a bear decently. Fortunately coyotes are little cutie pies much smaller. Get a lever gat and roleplay as a cowboy and smoke tobacco out of a pipe. That'll bring back genetic memories for the coyote.
@@Drak976 Drak, you need help.
@@tedolphbundler724 that's right, the cat sees the dog as his possession, like a cattle on his territory and nobody is going to come in and change the order of things the cat rules over. It's not friendship.

Good cat. She knows she stood no chance but she braved up. When the coyotes flinched, she continued with her scare tactic, when they ran off she knew not to chase and instead took a parallel escape route to protect herself from the possibility of the coyotes coming back to attack. All I can say is, what a good girl.

Hoping the hero cat can now be an indoor cat ❤.Awesome story
I had an indoor cat and he'd just sadly stare outside all the time. So I started letting him out some. He liked being outdoors more. He disappeared. I thought he was a goner but now there's this giant orange and white cat that looks like him that comes around. Male cats want to do male cat things. Bob Barker cat genocide just teaches cats to avoid humans. You should at least train them to walk on leashes or something they like outside.
you mean you were sad to see him or he was sad? I guess by your stadards all apartment cats are sad........................ That's just not true. mayeb you can volunteer at a cat shelter to see what happends to outside cats and the % of life span and illnesses they have before endorsing danger. And maybe look into in what countries its legal or safe to have cats outside before generalizing. If you really feel an inside cat is being abused emotionally please do report it to authorities............and let us know how it goes 😉 @@Drak976

Awwwwww.
So glad your dog is ok and so proud for the kitty who stood up for him.
What I find amazing it how much damage the coyote did in 4 maybe 5 seconds max. That was a powerful attack.
@ericastier1646 Did you honestly compare a wild cat to a coyote?
