Steven sobbing at the end of 'I am my Monster' always gets me. You can hear everything he went through. You can hear the meltdown he just had. You can just hear it. Massive props to Zach Callison.
Zach Callison himself said that Future was tough for him to voice because he was also going through a lot of personal turmoil at the time of recording. I'm sure this was very cathartic to let out for both Steven and Zach
with where i was mentally when this show wrapped up, that scene destroyed me. didn’t realize that a little boy with magical gem alien powers could grow to be so relatable to me.
I know a lot of fans have started to hate Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond after so much backstory was revealed (understandable, of course), but I think it was a good piece of storytelling where the character development was revealed in reverse. Rose once mentioned to Greg that she envies humans for their ability to change, but she changed herself. It sucked that she hurt a lot of the Gems/humans around her, like Volleyball, Spinel, CG Pearl, Garnet, Bismuth, even Greg and how many humans she had been romantically involved with before him. We'll never know if Rose ever had regrets with her actions, but at least she was serious about wanting her son Steven to live life as a human being. Finally.
Agreed! I was surprised at how many fans turned really vicious toward Rose when there was so much context in the show that there were very few "good" alternatives to her actual actions. Did Rose know how Spinel suffered? What would have been a less dangerous way to get the Diamonds off Earth? As you mentioned, Gems struggle to change. Changing a whole way of life took thousands of years, Steven, and the Crystal Gems. I don't agree with all her actions but damn I at least felt like I understood why she did everything she did.
@hellomelloyello What most likely shocked and angered people was the fact at how much Rose/Pink had *hidden* from everyone. CG Pearl didn't know about her predecessor Volleyball or the fact that Pink had those destructive powers that hurt Volleyball. Pearl also didn't know about Spinel being cruelly left behind. Garnet and Bismuth never knew Rose's previous identity as a Diamond. Most of all, Steven grew up being told how wonderful and awesome his mother was until the truth started to come out. BUT...Considering what Pink had to live with with the other Diamonds and what happened to Volleyball, she had to become secretive. She just (maybe) never considered that the whole truth would ever come out.
Exactly!! People forget that she got hurt too. She suffered during her time with her Diamonds. Imagine living Eons with your sister gems, getting treated like a kid. The Diamonds changed her to be such a brat. No attention, no fairness, no care. They punished her, took her stuff away (like her first pearl), starved her in a dark room. Pink/Rose doing such a big change is something not a lot of people realize. And the most selfless thing to do was to give her life to Steven cause she thought he‘d be a much better person than she was
Here's the thing about the Lapis Lazuli. Our Lapis is era 1. the other two are more likely era 2, in which gems have been made with less power. Our era 1 Lapis can remove the entire Earth's Ocean (while her gem was cracked), and these two seem to only be able to almost keep up with her when they're working together. the difference between era 1 and 2 is freaking nuts
Yeah I think they were created during the war so when the diamonds were creating new gems they were making them less powerful so they couldn't overthrow them as easily (atleast that's what I think)
I just think our lapis is built different, like jasper, she might have stolen a bit more nutrients from the ground. That or her experiences with trauma have made her mental prowess with hydrokenesis very strong.
Let’s not forget that Era One gems were made with the essences of all four diamonds. Era Two gems were made with only three, which is why many lacked powers or the ability to shape shift (which I headcanon was an ability unique to Pink). But aside from that, I do also believe that our Lapis is genuinely just naturally, exceptionally powerful even when considered with other Lapis Lazuli gems.
1:28:54 "JUST GO TO COLLEGE!" It's been canonically proven that Steven IS smart and intelligent enough to go to college! The Gems, primarily Pearl, homeschooled him throughout his life. He can intellectually keep up with Connie, who's shown to be above-average intelligent for a human adolescent. When one of Connie's teachers scoffed that it was impossible for him to keep up with a regular schoolkids and demanded he be tested, he took a standardized test in one of the side comics and passed with flying colors.
I don't doubt his ability but how did Pearl homeschool him on regular subjects? In the mirror Lapis episode it seems Pearl didn't know how school worked.
Why do you need to know how a school works to teach basic subjects and concepts? Half of what schools 'teach' is submission to authority. It isn't inconsistent writing to say that Pearl is smart and taught Steven things without ever needing to know how a human school works...
But he hasn't legally had any education, he doesn't have any documents or certificate that he had an education. Even if he was able to keep up with Connie I don't know if any college would take him
I love the sunstone being a mix of Steven (who wants everyone safe and happy) and garnet (who wants to protect everyone) ends up just being ‘work place safety video’ the character
Fun fact about this show: It was on risk of beinc cancelled so much, Rebecca had to scrap a lot of things. There's a whole timeline she drawn on a whiteboard, and it showed so much detail about Pink Diamond's Creation, a thing she wanted to touch on but could never, or the fact that Season 5 was incredibly rushed, the whole Trauma section of Future had to happen on Season 5, before his gem was ripped out of his body. But in the end, the show got it's early shut down, because of old people who can't accept people can love each other independently of sex. The thing is, Steven Future should be something else, and even if it was a good show, it was still rushed since, some of the important topics were rushed to fit the 20 chapters timeline. Sadly, SU would have been a way better show, if CN had given them full control over it. CN wanted to badly that SU was like other animations like Gumball where you can watch at ANY point and it's fine, that they were having to shove filler episodes constantly to saciate them. The worst part of the entire situation is that SU kept being delayed and kept being shoved into a stove for months because of the Sexuallity thing explored into the show, while Gumball literally kept using some very dark jokes, but it was fine because it's ok to be dark, and psychodelic as long as it's not two guys or two girls kissing each other. And that's where CN draws the line. Tha'ts why I don't think SU will come back even if Rebecca and her husband ARE interested into making more Steven. Sadly, CN is just comanded by old people around the world, and old people cannot accept that the world is accepting of all nowadays, or atleast it should. There will always be people trying to shut down anything that is about equality, over any gender or sex life.

crazy to think a lot of people jumped on the rebecca sugar hating train for these reasons, rushed arcs, and a lot of things promised that werent shown, but all of this wasnt her fault, if she was given the freedom to do as she planned she would have, its always the fault of those in charge of the money
i think some spinoff of SU is likely, seeing how well adventure time distant lands did. Just it wouldn't be on CN. some other company will buy the rights to it and we'll get a similar show to distant lands. i think their is so much potential in making an adult SU series since they could actually explore deep subjects.

Ok so I was rewatching some episodes and might have figured out why "the choosening" at the zoo was a thing. The zoo staff had the task to keep the humans healthy and safe, hence why they are monitored and have all they needs taken care of, one of which would eventually be reproduction. Now, it's not uncommon for small populations (which the zoo is) to show several cases of birth defects as a result of inbreeding and stuff, which would go against the"keep humans healthy" order. Therefore I conclude that the zoo staff has a clear record of every zoo-human's genetic state, and have developed some system that can tell which human pairings would bear healthy offspring, pairings that are then announced through the choosening process
So it makes a lot of sense that Greg would be the next to be Choosened as he has the most different genetic material to the rest of the humans in the Zoo
actually pretty good theory. I'm assuming the earrings play a role in the genetic information collection, it could also monitor general behavior which could be used to make the selection based off surface traits.
I always thought there had to be other levels with other groups of humans because the ship looked so huge the first time we saw it, so there would be essentially genetic shuffling between habitats every few generations. Thats why theres such a diversity of races and ages. If it was just one group with everyones choosening at the same time, the ages would all be the exact same per generation and the races/genetic traits would be mixed together into one uniform look. The one old lady either means she's an anomaly of the zoos average life expectancy or the other people from her generation are on different levels. Same with kids. I wonder if babies and kids have their own level too sense steven was the only kid we saw and the zooman seemed familiar with the choosening enough that its happened a few times before. I dont know. Its a pretty weird rabbit hole to dive down and it makes sense we didn't see much more of how that works.
1:40:45 the detail of Steven having the diamond his pupil like all of the others (White, Blue, Yellow, AND Pink) had me SHOOK when i first watched this. Him letting out all that anger was turning him INTO a Diamond.
It wasn't turning him into a diamond, it was specifically turning him into pink. Which is why the other diamonds are little disgruntled towards his outbursts. They just moved on from his mom, after he constantly tried to prove he's not her just to come back to them acting just like her.
I will always find it deeply disappointing that Steven never re-orientated his gem to its original position and took on his true diamond form. Instead, it stayed in its fake “Rose Quartz” form and he remained generally very human looking, like Rose.
In the next episode, even his meltdown before turning into a monster is a series of double entendres. A lot of people don't acknowledge it. It's both Steven and Pink talking. "How messed up is that? That I've gotten away with this for so long...?"

Something a lot of people don’t notice immediately is that the pearl’s gem spot matches the owner. At least for the diamonds. Blue and yellow pearl have their pearls on their chest much like their owners. However, our pearl who was pink diamond pearl has her’s on her head like white diamond. And former pink Pearl white’s new pearl notice her gem was on her stomach like pink’s. This means that after what happened with the OG pink pearl white gave pink her pearl with her own modifications. You also will notice that our pearls original design doesn’t look anything like Pink That means Pink did not design her appearance herself. Probably not wanting to get attached to another pearl. Probably why Spinel was made to compensate for pink Pearl’s energy. It’s also why Pink seemed detached from Pearl before the rose quartz incident.
I’m sorry, I never watched the theory videos. I just assumed since every diamond has a pearl. That actually raises an even bigger question. Did white diamond ever have a pearl?
The canon information is that White Diamond is the one who personally creates Pearls. She never has one, because she has no need of one. Our Pearl was created by White Diamond to be a more sensible voice of reason to balance Pink Diamond’s childish impulsive nature, since her own Pearl encouraged it and got damaged during one of her tantrums. The placement of a gem indicates a key aspect of their personality. And indeed, in the Crystal Gems, each gem represents a Diamond and their personality. Pearl is White, both micromanaging and sticklers for order and perfection. She clashes the most with Amethyst, who like Pink, is impulsive and chaotic. The two are antithetical. Ruby and Sapphire are Yellow and Blue respectively. The brash, action-driven characteristics of Ruby/Yellow are balanced by the diplomatic and calming presence of Sapphire/Blue, and both Ruby and Sapphire are co-dependant, much like Yellow and Blue.

To be fair, Pearl probably knew many Rose Quartz gems before Pink's rebellion and their bubbling. While it's still hard for her, she likely has experience with them (or other Rose Quartzes). Hence her being able to hold out as long as she did.
There were no Rose Quartz gems before Pink Diamond went into the Kindergarten on Earth. Which is why she introduced herself as a “fellow Amethyst guard.” The Rose Quartzes were created afterwards.
When this arc began I always wondered about how Stevens powers would be affected as he grew up. It's something they touched on in Season 1 but we didn't really explore again. His gem powers are tied to his emotional state but gems aren't as emotionally volatile as humans are, especially during puberty. Add this period of his life to the near constant childhood trauma and you get this. I know some fans didn't really like the direction this took but I for one really enjoyed it.
I watched the compilation even tho i've already seen it cause i love how much you guys empathized with Steven Thats kinda what i love about you guys, you are not afraid to speak your mind or show emotion

I really like future because it brings up every issue that was coming up from SU. I always thought that Greg was a good dad, but really gave no structure to Steven, and since he didn't care about his own living situation never bothered with giving Steven a chance to fit in human society. In SU Steven learnt who he was as a gem, but he's half human living in a human world, so it fits that in future he goes to discover more of this side of himself.
Watching through Future made me realize that Connie and Steven really are relationship goals. Like the fact that her instinct when his powers acted up were to take him to someone she trusted to help them immediately call his support system in? And the fact that the final piece to snap him back to himself was her.
Makes sense that White personally took Pink Pearl away if the damage was psychological. Since White can possess other gems with her mind, it feels like in her own, twisted way, White was genuinely trying to help, since a gem can’t be psychologically tortured if they don’t have consciousness anyway.

I liked Future a lot and don't really agree with the majority of complaints (like characters being "OOC" for not realizing Steven was in pain, despite the fact the gems have never been good with that, even Garnet). The fact they were able to tie up all this stuff in a scant twenty episodes (losing five episodes worth of time because CN restructured their season orders) as well as doing a decent resolution to Steven's issues is good, if not admirable. Probably my favourite season of the show next to maybe 3.

Damn, I watched Steven universe with my grandma when I was a kid when it first came out, then after she died I just kinda like Steven had one weird event after another including dying in 8th grade, losing a parent, the other parent losing me to abuse from alcohol and almost stabbing me to death again and several more worse things, never got to check out future. But that “how can I live life if it always feels like I’m about to die” is hitting me pretty hard rn lol. I should’ve watched this sooner

So, I have an unpopular opinion about Rose/Pink. It's a bit long so, bare with me: I think Pink did her best! She came from a family of colonizers, *very* successful colonizers. She was also the youngest of the four diamonds, and thus had little to no involvement in the "Family Business", we saw how she felt about being left out during the dream Stevonnie had when they were stranded on the remote planet. All she ever wanted was to be like Yellow, Blue and White. In the episodes when Steven was on Homeworld, we saw that the little rock helpers in her room came alive after Steven's tear had brought one to life, meaning Pink had cried alone in that room many times before, probably from feeling so lonley. Finally she gets her own planet, and being free spirited explores it and finds that she loves it. Then she tries to stop her sisters from completing the cluster and we saw how that didn't work, thus Rose's rebellion began. No gem was shattered on either side, meaning she was careful and really didn't want to destroy any gem at all, even imprisoning Bismuth after she suggested doing so. Now, how I see it, Pink probably figured that if she were shattered her sisters would simply back off, thinking Earth wouldn't be worth the effort. (Again kind of makes sense, if you consider Pink thinking that her sisters didn't really care about her, (like I said earlier, I feel like Pink must have felt very alone before exploring Earth and finding the other Crystal Gems.)) But they did care, and sent the beam that caused all the destruction to the other gems, then she dedicated everything to finding these gems and bubbling them in hopes of finding a cure for them some day. Now, as to why she didn't tell the others about her being Pink Diamond? I mean, could you imagine how she must have felt during this entire thing? While she no longer agreed with what the other Diamonds did, we can imagine that Yellow (at the time) would've just taken over Pink's colony. I mean it was meant to be Yellow's originally and she delegated it to Pink. (I could be wrong about this, if I am please let me know.) So, I imagine in a snowball out of control type of situation, she figured that if she was still using Pink and Rose as separate entities that she could keep the Diamonds from interfering too much while still trying to convice Homeworld gems that they could be more than they are. Eventually, it became too much though and had to do something drastic, to shift the tides, thus her fake shattering. By that time, the hatred of the Diamonds would have been strong in her camps so, she didn't tell anyone, out of fear that she'd be rejected, both by the Crystal gems and the Diamonds. I could say more, but I think this comment is long enough. TL;DR: Pink was a lonley royal who empathised with the lower classes, and led a rebellion to help them thinking her family wouldn't care, but they did in fact care.
most level headed take on Rose I've seen I think people forget that Rose also suffered and did try her best because 1. shes no longer alive to explain or defend herself and 2. she hurt characters who are very much still alive and dealing with everything, so the audience tends to have more sympathy towards them I feel like looking at Rose's character in Black and white does a major disservice to what the story was trying to tell Rose is a complicated person, she did amazing things with what she had and she also hurt people, and those things can and will coexist I genuinely love Rose and I identify with her a lot, I also love seeing other people's takes It's crazy that even when I was a kid I thought the hate Rose was getting was way over the top, but what can you do? You kinda always have the risk of being misintepreted or to have the point fly right above some of the audience's head when creating complex characters, I think the most we can do is discuss in a civil way while correcting misinformation!
One of my favorite things about Pink/Rose storyline, is how it's a redemption story being told backwards. - The show starts with everyone talking about how great and kind Rose was. Everything we see of her portrays her as the kind mother who sees all life as precious. - As things progress, we find out that Rose has done some questionable things: imprisoning Bismuth for making a lethal weapon for a WAR, and THEN "shattering" a Diamond. - Finally we learn the truth, the leader of the rebellion is actually one of the dictators everyone has been fighting. We see Rose/Pink at the start of her journey: a whiny royal born into an abusive family, who has lived their entire life under the belief that everyone is born to serve her (because they literally are). She abandoned Spinel like a used childhood toy because that's what Spinel was, a toy for her diamond. Yellow implies that White would bubble the Diamonds for millenniums as a form of punishment, the existence of the tower implies Pink was sometimes locked up in there, and Pink's room is full of Pebbles (meaning she must've cried a lot). With the full picture in frame we can finally understand Pink/Rose. It's the story of a selfish and abused royal discovering the world, realizing the damage her and her family have done. She fights back against her family, taking the form of the lower class (something the Diamonds can't stand to ignore). With few options, she forsakes her royalty and embraces her new identity as someone who protects everyone's right to live.

If you guys think about it when pearl saw the rose quarts that reassembled rose you have to remember, she's the only one who knew who she really was and saw her and only her like that. She knew it was a facade the entire time and still only though of her as the diamond she loved and served but of course, Greg came and did Greg things, as Greg does. She didn't react to the rose quarts looking like rose cause she saw pink diamond, not rose, as a pearl who had feelings for her, she had loyalty to keep up with the facade. That's why she didn't react like you thought, she was like "this isn't roses true form" that and the quarts uniform down really help considering rose wore a dress.
When the credits came in for the final episode of Future, I WAILED... I realized that that the credits scene at the end of each episode had been Steven leaving Beach City all along 😭😭😭

If the movie takes place 2 years after the series finale, that would make Steven 16, nearly 17. So if the future series takes place 2 years after the movie, that would make Steven 18, or nearly 19
It looks like in the movie that little homeschool was almost finished being built, and in future it introduces it like it's pretty new, so I'm thinking the movie is only maybe 6 months at most ahead of future

I think you should adjust the angle of your footstop. Having your foot slightly more perpendicular to the length of the board should give you more leverage, and make it more comfortable to put weight on your front foot. Should also make it easier to digg your heels in

SU is a the story of the hero’s journey and being the special chosen one. SU:F is about the fallout and the consequences that befall someone that has undergone extreme trauma. They’re two completely different shows that focus on very different things. They only share characters and the world. It’s not surprising at all that one show would resonate more with someone.
@@Misdrex So he’s 16 in the movie and the movie takes place in May, there’s a poster with the date during the concert scene, and his birthday is towards the end of the summer, and there’s an episode of future that takes place very clearly during winter, so it’s heavily implied that not only does future start at the very least a month after the movie, but that it’s over the span of several months

Rose once mentioned to Greg that she envies humans for their ability to change, but she changed herself. It sucked that she hurt a lot of the Gems/humans around her, like Volleyball, Spinel, CG Pearl, Garnet, Bismuth, even Greg and how many humans she had been romantically involved with before him.
We'll never know if Rose ever had regrets with her actions, but at least she was serious about wanting her son Steven to live life as a human being. Finally.

Agreed! I was surprised at how many fans turned really vicious toward Rose when there was so much context in the show that there were very few "good" alternatives to her actual actions. Did Rose know how Spinel suffered? What would have been a less dangerous way to get the Diamonds off Earth? As you mentioned, Gems struggle to change. Changing a whole way of life took thousands of years, Steven, and the Crystal Gems. I don't agree with all her actions but damn I at least felt like I understood why she did everything she did.
@hellomelloyello What most likely shocked and angered people was the fact at how much Rose/Pink had *hidden* from everyone. CG Pearl didn't know about her predecessor Volleyball or the fact that Pink had those destructive powers that hurt Volleyball. Pearl also didn't know about Spinel being cruelly left behind. Garnet and Bismuth never knew Rose's previous identity as a Diamond. Most of all, Steven grew up being told how wonderful and awesome his mother was until the truth started to come out.
BUT...Considering what Pink had to live with with the other Diamonds and what happened to Volleyball, she had to become secretive. She just (maybe) never considered that the whole truth would ever come out.
Exactly!! People forget that she got hurt too. She suffered during her time with her Diamonds. Imagine living Eons with your sister gems, getting treated like a kid. The Diamonds changed her to be such a brat. No attention, no fairness, no care. They punished her, took her stuff away (like her first pearl), starved her in a dark room. Pink/Rose doing such a big change is something not a lot of people realize. And the most selfless thing to do was to give her life to Steven cause she thought he‘d be a much better person than she was
Here's the thing about the Lapis Lazuli. Our Lapis is era 1. the other two are more likely era 2, in which gems have been made with less power. Our era 1 Lapis can remove the entire Earth's Ocean (while her gem was cracked), and these two seem to only be able to almost keep up with her when they're working together. the difference between era 1 and 2 is freaking nuts
Yeah I think they were created during the war so when the diamonds were creating new gems they were making them less powerful so they couldn't overthrow them as easily (atleast that's what I think)
I just think our lapis is built different, like jasper, she might have stolen a bit more nutrients from the ground. That or her experiences with trauma have made her mental prowess with hydrokenesis very strong.
Let’s not forget that Era One gems were made with the essences of all four diamonds. Era Two gems were made with only three, which is why many lacked powers or the ability to shape shift (which I headcanon was an ability unique to Pink).
But aside from that, I do also believe that our Lapis is genuinely just naturally, exceptionally powerful even when considered with other Lapis Lazuli gems.
1:28:54 "JUST GO TO COLLEGE!" It's been canonically proven that Steven IS smart and intelligent enough to go to college! The Gems, primarily Pearl, homeschooled him throughout his life. He can intellectually keep up with Connie, who's shown to be above-average intelligent for a human adolescent. When one of Connie's teachers scoffed that it was impossible for him to keep up with a regular schoolkids and demanded he be tested, he took a standardized test in one of the side comics and passed with flying colors.
I don't doubt his ability but how did Pearl homeschool him on regular subjects? In the mirror Lapis episode it seems Pearl didn't know how school worked.

I love the sunstone being a mix of Steven (who wants everyone safe and happy) and garnet (who wants to protect everyone) ends up just being ‘work place safety video’ the character
Fun fact about this show:
It was on risk of beinc cancelled so much, Rebecca had to scrap a lot of things. There's a whole timeline she drawn on a whiteboard, and it showed so much detail about Pink Diamond's Creation, a thing she wanted to touch on but could never, or the fact that Season 5 was incredibly rushed, the whole Trauma section of Future had to happen on Season 5, before his gem was ripped out of his body.
But in the end, the show got it's early shut down, because of old people who can't accept people can love each other independently of sex.
The thing is, Steven Future should be something else, and even if it was a good show, it was still rushed since, some of the important topics were rushed to fit the 20 chapters timeline.
Sadly, SU would have been a way better show, if CN had given them full control over it. CN wanted to badly that SU was like other animations like Gumball where you can watch at ANY point and it's fine, that they were having to shove filler episodes constantly to saciate them.
The worst part of the entire situation is that SU kept being delayed and kept being shoved into a stove for months because of the Sexuallity thing explored into the show, while Gumball literally kept using some very dark jokes, but it was fine because it's ok to be dark, and psychodelic as long as it's not two guys or two girls kissing each other. And that's where CN draws the line.
Tha'ts why I don't think SU will come back even if Rebecca and her husband ARE interested into making more Steven. Sadly, CN is just comanded by old people around the world, and old people cannot accept that the world is accepting of all nowadays, or atleast it should. There will always be people trying to shut down anything that is about equality, over any gender or sex life.

i think some spinoff of SU is likely, seeing how well adventure time distant lands did. Just it wouldn't be on CN. some other company will buy the rights to it and we'll get a similar show to distant lands. i think their is so much potential in making an adult SU series since they could actually explore deep subjects.

Ok so I was rewatching some episodes and might have figured out why "the choosening" at the zoo was a thing.
The zoo staff had the task to keep the humans healthy and safe, hence why they are monitored and have all they needs taken care of, one of which would eventually be reproduction.
Now, it's not uncommon for small populations (which the zoo is) to show several cases of birth defects as a result of inbreeding and stuff, which would go against the"keep humans healthy" order.
Therefore I conclude that the zoo staff has a clear record of every zoo-human's genetic state, and have developed some system that can tell which human pairings would bear healthy offspring, pairings that are then announced through the choosening process
So it makes a lot of sense that Greg would be the next to be Choosened as he has the most different genetic material to the rest of the humans in the Zoo
actually pretty good theory. I'm assuming the earrings play a role in the genetic information collection, it could also monitor general behavior which could be used to make the selection based off surface traits.
I always thought there had to be other levels with other groups of humans because the ship looked so huge the first time we saw it, so there would be essentially genetic shuffling between habitats every few generations. Thats why theres such a diversity of races and ages. If it was just one group with everyones choosening at the same time, the ages would all be the exact same per generation and the races/genetic traits would be mixed together into one uniform look. The one old lady either means she's an anomaly of the zoos average life expectancy or the other people from her generation are on different levels. Same with kids. I wonder if babies and kids have their own level too sense steven was the only kid we saw and the zooman seemed familiar with the choosening enough that its happened a few times before. I dont know. Its a pretty weird rabbit hole to dive down and it makes sense we didn't see much more of how that works.
1:40:45 the detail of Steven having the diamond his pupil like all of the others (White, Blue, Yellow, AND Pink) had me SHOOK when i first watched this. Him letting out all that anger was turning him INTO a Diamond.
It wasn't turning him into a diamond, it was specifically turning him into pink. Which is why the other diamonds are little disgruntled towards his outbursts. They just moved on from his mom, after he constantly tried to prove he's not her just to come back to them acting just like her.
I will always find it deeply disappointing that Steven never re-orientated his gem to its original position and took on his true diamond form. Instead, it stayed in its fake “Rose Quartz” form and he remained generally very human looking, like Rose.
In the next episode, even his meltdown before turning into a monster is a series of double entendres. A lot of people don't acknowledge it. It's both Steven and Pink talking.

Something a lot of people don’t notice immediately is that the pearl’s gem spot matches the owner. At least for the diamonds. Blue and yellow pearl have their pearls on their chest much like their owners. However, our pearl who was pink diamond pearl has her’s on her head like white diamond. And former pink Pearl white’s new pearl notice her gem was on her stomach like pink’s. This means that after what happened with the OG pink pearl white gave pink her pearl with her own modifications. You also will notice that our pearls original design doesn’t look anything like Pink That means Pink did not design her appearance herself. Probably not wanting to get attached to another pearl. Probably why Spinel was made to compensate for pink Pearl’s energy. It’s also why Pink seemed detached from Pearl before the rose quartz incident.
That theory has *long* been disproven actually, Pearl was never White’s, she was just directly given to Pink after she broke Pink Pearl.

The canon information is that White Diamond is the one who personally creates Pearls. She never has one, because she has no need of one.
Our Pearl was created by White Diamond to be a more sensible voice of reason to balance Pink Diamond’s childish impulsive nature, since her own Pearl encouraged it and got damaged during one of her tantrums.
The placement of a gem indicates a key aspect of their personality. And indeed, in the Crystal Gems, each gem represents a Diamond and their personality.
Pearl is White, both micromanaging and sticklers for order and perfection. She clashes the most with Amethyst, who like Pink, is impulsive and chaotic. The two are antithetical.
Ruby and Sapphire are Yellow and Blue respectively. The brash, action-driven characteristics of Ruby/Yellow are balanced by the diplomatic and calming presence of Sapphire/Blue, and both Ruby and Sapphire are co-dependant, much like Yellow and Blue.

To be fair, Pearl probably knew many Rose Quartz gems before Pink's rebellion and their bubbling. While it's still hard for her, she likely has experience with them (or other Rose Quartzes). Hence her being able to hold out as long as she did.
There were no Rose Quartz gems before Pink Diamond went into the Kindergarten on Earth. Which is why she introduced herself as a “fellow Amethyst guard.”
The Rose Quartzes were created afterwards.

When this arc began I always wondered about how Stevens powers would be affected as he grew up. It's something they touched on in Season 1 but we didn't really explore again. His gem powers are tied to his emotional state but gems aren't as emotionally volatile as humans are, especially during puberty. Add this period of his life to the near constant childhood trauma and you get this. I know some fans didn't really like the direction this took but I for one really enjoyed it.

I really like future because it brings up every issue that was coming up from SU. I always thought that Greg was a good dad, but really gave no structure to Steven, and since he didn't care about his own living situation never bothered with giving Steven a chance to fit in human society. In SU Steven learnt who he was as a gem, but he's half human living in a human world, so it fits that in future he goes to discover more of this side of himself.

Watching through Future made me realize that Connie and Steven really are relationship goals. Like the fact that her instinct when his powers acted up were to take him to someone she trusted to help them immediately call his support system in? And the fact that the final piece to snap him back to himself was her.
Makes sense that White personally took Pink Pearl away if the damage was psychological. Since White can possess other gems with her mind, it feels like in her own, twisted way, White was genuinely trying to help, since a gem can’t be psychologically tortured if they don’t have consciousness anyway.

I liked Future a lot and don't really agree with the majority of complaints (like characters being "OOC" for not realizing Steven was in pain, despite the fact the gems have never been good with that, even Garnet). The fact they were able to tie up all this stuff in a scant twenty episodes (losing five episodes worth of time because CN restructured their season orders) as well as doing a decent resolution to Steven's issues is good, if not admirable.
Probably my favourite season of the show next to maybe 3.

I’ll say that the first two seasons are good, and the Battle for Mewni, yet the last two seasons are controversial.
Damn, I watched Steven universe with my grandma when I was a kid when it first came out, then after she died I just kinda like Steven had one weird event after another including dying in 8th grade, losing a parent, the other parent losing me to abuse from alcohol and almost stabbing me to death again and several more worse things, never got to check out future.
But that “how can I live life if it always feels like I’m about to die” is hitting me pretty hard rn lol. I should’ve watched this sooner
something else to note is that temple obsidian's design has rose's hair texture with the individual ringlets while the obsidian we see has steven's hair texture
So, I have an unpopular opinion about Rose/Pink. It's a bit long so, bare with me:
I think Pink did her best! She came from a family of colonizers, *very* successful colonizers. She was also the youngest of the four diamonds, and thus had little to no involvement in the "Family Business", we saw how she felt about being left out during the dream Stevonnie had when they were stranded on the remote planet. All she ever wanted was to be like Yellow, Blue and White. In the episodes when Steven was on Homeworld, we saw that the little rock helpers in her room came alive after Steven's tear had brought one to life, meaning Pink had cried alone in that room many times before, probably from feeling so lonley.
Finally she gets her own planet, and being free spirited explores it and finds that she loves it. Then she tries to stop her sisters from completing the cluster and we saw how that didn't work, thus Rose's rebellion began. No gem was shattered on either side, meaning she was careful and really didn't want to destroy any gem at all, even imprisoning Bismuth after she suggested doing so. Now, how I see it, Pink probably figured that if she were shattered her sisters would simply back off, thinking Earth wouldn't be worth the effort. (Again kind of makes sense, if you consider Pink thinking that her sisters didn't really care about her, (like I said earlier, I feel like Pink must have felt very alone before exploring Earth and finding the other Crystal Gems.))
But they did care, and sent the beam that caused all the destruction to the other gems, then she dedicated everything to finding these gems and bubbling them in hopes of finding a cure for them some day.
Now, as to why she didn't tell the others about her being Pink Diamond? I mean, could you imagine how she must have felt during this entire thing? While she no longer agreed with what the other Diamonds did, we can imagine that Yellow (at the time) would've just taken over Pink's colony. I mean it was meant to be Yellow's originally and she delegated it to Pink. (I could be wrong about this, if I am please let me know.) So, I imagine in a snowball out of control type of situation, she figured that if she was still using Pink and Rose as separate entities that she could keep the Diamonds from interfering too much while still trying to convice Homeworld gems that they could be more than they are.
Eventually, it became too much though and had to do something drastic, to shift the tides, thus her fake shattering. By that time, the hatred of the Diamonds would have been strong in her camps so, she didn't tell anyone, out of fear that she'd be rejected, both by the Crystal gems and the Diamonds.
I could say more, but I think this comment is long enough.
TL;DR: Pink was a lonley royal who empathised with the lower classes, and led a rebellion to help them thinking her family wouldn't care, but they did in fact care.
most level headed take on Rose I've seen
I think people forget that Rose also suffered and did try her best because
1. shes no longer alive to explain or defend herself
and 2. she hurt characters who are very much still alive and dealing with everything, so the audience tends to have more sympathy towards them
I feel like looking at Rose's character in Black and white does a major disservice to what the story was trying to tell
Rose is a complicated person, she did amazing things with what she had and she also hurt people, and those things can and will coexist
I genuinely love Rose and I identify with her a lot, I also love seeing other people's takes
It's crazy that even when I was a kid I thought the hate Rose was getting was way over the top, but what can you do? You kinda always have the risk of being misintepreted or to have the point fly right above some of the audience's head when creating complex characters, I think the most we can do is discuss in a civil way while correcting misinformation!
One of my favorite things about Pink/Rose storyline, is how it's a redemption story being told backwards.
- The show starts with everyone talking about how great and kind Rose was. Everything we see of her portrays her as the kind mother who sees all life as precious.
- As things progress, we find out that Rose has done some questionable things: imprisoning Bismuth for making a lethal weapon for a WAR, and THEN "shattering" a Diamond.
- Finally we learn the truth, the leader of the rebellion is actually one of the dictators everyone has been fighting. We see Rose/Pink at the start of her journey: a whiny royal born into an abusive family, who has lived their entire life under the belief that everyone is born to serve her (because they literally are). She abandoned Spinel like a used childhood toy because that's what Spinel was, a toy for her diamond.
Yellow implies that White would bubble the Diamonds for millenniums as a form of punishment, the existence of the tower implies Pink was sometimes locked up in there, and Pink's room is full of Pebbles (meaning she must've cried a lot).
With the full picture in frame we can finally understand Pink/Rose. It's the story of a selfish and abused royal discovering the world, realizing the damage her and her family have done. She fights back against her family, taking the form of the lower class (something the Diamonds can't stand to ignore). With few options, she forsakes her royalty and embraces her new identity as someone who protects everyone's right to live.

If you guys think about it when pearl saw the rose quarts that reassembled rose you have to remember, she's the only one who knew who she really was and saw her and only her like that. She knew it was a facade the entire time and still only though of her as the diamond she loved and served but of course, Greg came and did Greg things, as Greg does. She didn't react to the rose quarts looking like rose cause she saw pink diamond, not rose, as a pearl who had feelings for her, she had loyalty to keep up with the facade. That's why she didn't react like you thought, she was like "this isn't roses true form" that and the quarts uniform down really help considering rose wore a dress.

Also for the pearls, look at the gem placement compared to their diamonds, pearl is from white, pink pearl is from pink, the pearls for all the diamonds, their gems are in the same places as their respective diamonds

I think you should adjust the angle of your footstop. Having your foot slightly more perpendicular to the length of the board should give you more leverage, and make it more comfortable to put weight on your front foot. Should also make it easier to digg your heels in

I remember one TH-camr posting that he/she never liked SU until it got to Future.
OK, then.
SU is a the story of the hero’s journey and being the special chosen one. SU:F is about the fallout and the consequences that befall someone that has undergone extreme trauma.
They’re two completely different shows that focus on very different things. They only share characters and the world.
It’s not surprising at all that one show would resonate more with someone.
Anyone who didn't like SU Future is an idiot. The first half of the season wasn't amazing, but the build up to the end makes it so worth it.

@@Misdrex So he’s 16 in the movie and the movie takes place in May, there’s a poster with the date during the concert scene, and his birthday is towards the end of the summer, and there’s an episode of future that takes place very clearly during winter, so it’s heavily implied that not only does future start at the very least a month after the movie, but that it’s over the span of several months

This show is too hard on Greg. Yes, he would be a horrible father if this was real life and Steven had never been to a school or a hospital, but come on it’s a cartoon. I don’t need to see Greg get arrested by child services.
