Definitely not just for women. I bought myself an Equalizer to carry in place of the original Shield. Higher capacity, more safety features, longer barrel, and yea, easier to operate slide. Feels more like a 1911 in the hand. It's a great gun.

Bought this Equalizer with thumb safety as my first firearm. Very good for a first-timer, and seems reliable so far. Shot it once at a range with a friend and it was an awesome shooting time. Definitely recommend
Equalizer is a great gun
I have zero issues with grip strength, no arthritis, no nerve damage, and I still carry an Equalizer. It's a fantastic shooting firearm, versatile with varying mag sizes and the optic cut being standard with it is superb. If this had the Shield Plus or M&P 2.0 trigger and no grip safety, it would likely be the best handgun for EDC period.

The magazine release on the S&W Equalizer can also be placed on the other side to make it easier for L handed ppl!~ Learned that while reading the ins manual after bringing mine home!~
Same with sig Sauer and Springfield.
Simply put for my wife’a concealed carry, we’d go with the SW Equilizer.
It's a great choice. My wife loves her equalizer.

Bought one a few days ago I have Parkinson’s and have been carrying the 380 ez went to range yesterday with the equalizer put around 2 to 300 rounds through it with no issues love the Ez rack and the speed loader that comes with it

Bought the Equalizer for my wife because of the EZ system. We went to a gun store and checked out several different brands. The Equalizer felt good in her hand and was easy for her to manipulate. You can have the best gun in the world but if the person using it doesn't have the strength to rack the slide then it's useless.

My wife can't rack any of my Glocks
I own the Equalizer. We went looking for something my wife could rack and would fit my small hands. It was a tossup between the Equalizer, EZ and PDP F-Series. Because my wife's concern for safety, we opted for the model with the manual safety, which I am starting to regret. My thumb does not comfortably fit below the safety. "No Problem" I though because an over a thumb over safety position would ensure the safety is off when needing to fire. I shot about 500 rounds through it with no problems for me or my wife. But then I started having failures to fire. I realized the thumb over the safety was causing me to loosen the grip and engaging the grip safety. I'll probably overcome that with training. Since there currently is not an option for no grip safety, I would recommend not getting the manual safety and avoid that problem. It was easy adding the Holosun EPS Carry and the Olight PL-Mini 2 Valkyrie 600, making for a perfect home defense pistol.
I got my equalizer last year I shot it 94 rounds it’s smooth. Now I got me a Glock 19X 5th generation now. Glocks don’t get jammed they still the best it can reach up to 3,000.00 rounds my friend of mine told me 2 weeks ago.
Glocks aren't the only guns that don't jam. I love my Glock 19X but I have better guns that aren't Glocks.

@@progun45 my friend of mine got a Glock 26. He kept it for 20 years, still no problems on his Glock you’ll be surprised. I’m just saying well I got 2 pistol anyway. Smith & Wesson equalizer and a Glock 19X 5th generation. 2023, and 2024 brand new

Glock 19 grip is thicker, better for larger hands. The Equalizer has more narrow grip - similar to single stack 1911 with slim grips. I have medium size hands and my trigger finger go all the way past the first joint (I like the curve trigger). The trigger has a very short travel. If a Glock feels like a spongy trigger, the Equalizer feels almost like a 1911 where the trigger is almost resting on the wall. It has 5 pound pull though, so it’s still a defensive trigger, not too light. Straight out of the box, racking the slide feels heavy. But will loosen up very much after your first range time - almost as easy as racking an airsoft pistol. Recoil on the Equalizer feels softer with 124 grains than 115 grain ammo. Micro compacts like the Hellcat has more pronounced recoil than the Equalizer. Shooting the Equalizer with a full 15 round mag feels like shooting a Glock 19 or M&P 2.0 compact recoil but with a skinnier grip. The whole frame of the Equalizer has a rough texture, not only on the actual grip. It feels like the whole frame is covered with grip tape.
Thanks for the well detailed info. There is no one gun fits all. My wife loves the Equalizer and it works well for her. I don't like it as much as her. I also prefer the Glock 19X over the Glock 19. I didn't have the 19x when I did this review. So far the Springfield Echelon is my favorite. I just got that recently. Thanks again for your great input.
@@progun45 Thanks. Forgot to mention the Equalizer also has a hammer block safety that is deactivated by the grip safety. I love my Echelon, too. Easy to shoot fast. And it spits out the mags with force.
I plan on buying the Equalizer, love how it feels in my hand and my twin daughters can rack it without a problem. Not sure how it shoots but am looking forward to taking to the range.
The equalizer shoots great. It's my wife's favorite gun. You will love it.
A slingshot would beat a glock. I really don't understand the appeal in a glock. I used the money l saved when i bought the equilizer and put a holosun optic on it. The accuracy is outstanding.
Exactly brother. Glock made a living off their name for years and are very dated. People want them cause the cops have them.

I wouldn't say the S&W is more reliable but it is a better value.
Nicely done review. What I like about the Equilizer is it is thin at 1.04 inches. I note that the PSA Dagger compact, the micro dagger, and even the Sig Sauer P365 XL macro tacops, which I like, is about the same size. Even the shield plus is close in size. There are smaller 9mm but not all that much smaller.
The equalizer is my choice of carry

Glock all day. Used worldwide buy militaries, Leo's, civialians. I do Glocks because I know it's gonna go bang everytime no matter what.
Glock isn't the only gun that goes bang every time. Remember law Enforcement and Military use Glocks because Glock undercuts the competition, not because they are the best guns. Don't get me wrong, I love my Glocks as well but there are other options that will perform just was well.

A lot of the comments are saying that the s&w is for the wife, so is this gun meant for women? Im curious because I’m new to the gun scene and I just don’t want my first gun to be a woman’s gun.
It's not a woman's gun for sure. S&w integrated the EZ technology into most of their guns. It appeals to women because the slide is ez to rack but not a girl gun for sure.
The easy rack and less recoil advertising may be aimed at women or those with limited hand strength, but at the range I have guys look at my setup and comment on the great looks. Of course, it is Optics Ready and has a picatinny rail, so I've added the EPS Carry RedDot and the Olight Mini 2. It looks great and does not look girly at all. Although it fits my small hands well, I've only seen one review where they complained about the grip being small, but they admitted they have very large hands. I had no trouble racking my CZ P07, but the grip was too large for me. I must admit that we looked at the Equalizer because my wife needed an easier rack but it really checks all my boxes as well. Besides, I'm getting to the age where I appreciate the light rack.

I will be 70 in April, two good guns. At my age I like the equalizer, still easy for me to rack, and shoot. Nice gun. Nothing against glock, just getting to be too much for my wife and I.

Your side by side length comparison are not even. The S&W is further back making it kook shorter.
I believe I mention the barrel lengths and didn't say there is a major difference in length.
S&W all the way.
