Since Ruger has the small frame "micro" 380's. Llike the LCP, LCP Max. etc. I think the Security 380 is created to be comfortable 1st for people to shoot. Small size was a secondary consideration. I believe they accomplished this.

I think a more "apples to apples" comparison would've been the Ruger Security .380 Lite Rack vs the Smith and Wesson M&P 380 Shield EZ, both chambered in 380.

As a first time gun owner, I've ordered the Ruger Security 380. I am right-handed, but was born without a thumb on my left hand so the easy racking system seemed ideal, at least until I learn to compensate for my left hand's missing digit and lesser strength

Bought the Ruger because the wife had issues manipulating my Taurus G3C which has had *zero* malfunction that wasn't related to *Tula Ammo* in my experience. I wanted the wife to have a more serious option than my SR22 who has been reliable as long as I keep it clean. I had ZERO issues with the RUGER and the wife loves the UPLULA mag loader which I recommend. Thanks for the informative content.

The reason that you had a problem with the cartridge not going into battery is that the Owners Manual states that you should not use the slide lock to drop the cartridge into battery but to sling shot the slide to use the full travel of the slide to do so.
    Other than that, good video.

Great video. Thanks for posting this.
As a 71 year old with hand arthritis issues in both hands, I own the Equalizer and find I can handle it without issues.
I had the EZ 9 prior to the Equalizer. The deciding factor for me to switch was the higher round capacity, the optics ready slide on the Equalizer combined with the EZ rack slide made it a no brainer. Since I've owned and shot 1911's in the past the grip safety is no issue for me.
As far as the EZ slide idea, it works! I know because the Equalizer is far easier for me to operate and shoot than my Taurus G3C and my Ruger LCP Max.
In fact the Max due to it's small size is very hard for me to rack. If needed I use the rear sight against something to rack it. I guess that's the trade off for using a belly gun like the Max. Especially if a person has hand strength issues.
That said. Since the max is pretty much an ultra close quarters defense weapon with the ability to hold 12 rounds of 380, chances are if I ever need to use it can get off a couple of quick shots and then back up to gain some distance and still have enough magazine capacity left in case it escalates.
In a situation like that I probably won't have to reload or re-rack. Hopefully I never find myself in that kind of a situation.

I think Ruger knocked it out of the park with this one. Smaller folks, elderly, shoulder injured, arthritis, carpel tunnel people etc all will benefit from these. I know another Utuber said his store sold one to a guy that had 2 fingers even. The problem with those tiny micro 380's is accuracy. Most folks love carrying Ruger LCP's but they are not very accurate with them. Some folks are, but I bet most are not. Also most folks don't get range time to improve their accuracy if they could. These longer barreled Security 380's gain 100fps or more, with other channels showing gel tests and chrono of it. Only 3/4"-7/8" longer barrel adds a lot, and the 380 round needs it to get more expansion/penetration. Many of these folks may not get the S&W rear safety depressed correctly with their physical issues sometimes. Even a regular shooter may not, especially if shooting from a less than optimal position! The 15 rounds kinda seals the deal with the lite rack slide and the easy off/hard on safety. The S&W is nice besides the grip safety, but the 9mm may be too much recoil for many of these folks.

It's easy to conceal if I have a couple layers of clothes eg T Shirt and hoodie or button down over it which up here in NE is common. It's the easiest gun to shoot well I've ever used. Not one TH-camr has mentioned the disadvantage. It is like when gun makers came out with handguns that did not need the trigger to be pulled to disassemble and some people decried the added safety feature as unnecessary without explaining the benefit of having to pull the trigger.

Because they all go by the FBI's 12 to 16 inch need for penetration because of some 1 in a million flook that is really Really stupid. It's a perfectly fine caliber and the gun is absolutely the goat.

As far as .380 ammo, there is to my knowledge, no better round for self defense than Hornady XTP hollow points. Multiple manufacturers (fiochi, precision one, etc) make rounds using these bullets. In FBI gel tests with 4 pieces of denim, they consistently expand and penetrate between 12" to 15". I won't carry anything except XTPs in my .380

@@dmo848 most guns that are bought brand new have a type of lubricant. But it is a special lubricant that is supposed to prevent the weapon from rusting. It is not a type of lubricant you want on the gun when being fired. Under the heat of firing the weapon, when the gun gets hot, this lube gunks up. It's always recommended, when buying a new gun, to disassemble it, clean off the factory shipping lube, and relubricate with an actual lubrication, such as hoppes for example, that will not gunk up.

They're all great selling points, but just marketed towards new shooters or aged shooters or shooters with decreased hand strength or mobility. But yes, agreed that it makes for a great overall shooting and weapons manipulation experience for all shooters

Not even comparable firearms. The equalizer is closer to the 1911 platform. Hammer fired which will provide a better trigger than a striker fired pistol. The equalizer provides better all around firepower. Also a Holosun optic will drop right in. The S &W EZ380 is a much closer comparison.

I’ve got better pistols, but not leaving them in my vehicle, while I’m in GUN FREE ZONE! The Ruger is easy to clear bad ammunition! It’s plenty good enough for defense, if you’re not in a long distance gun fight! If you are, and don’t have a badge, get the hell out of there! The price was sweet enough, that I bought two of them! Love how easy it is to clean & reassemble! I like both pistols, but don’t want to get mugged for my expensive, fine pistol.

You really need to get a new trigger pole gauge. You're way off with the triggers. I've just seen two or three videos that did trigger poles on both of those guns and they were in the 4 lb area and if you would put them on the table and hold them down solid and then use your thing. You might get a different reading. I don't know why but you all do that. There's no nothing. You have to worry about it. The hammer pulling nothing you put on the table. Nice and solid and it should give you a pretty accurate trigger pull and that's all I got to say about that

380 is a tough man's Clark Kent. As a action person. I prefer this gun. Yep some 9er nanner fan boy's dislike it. But as when I am not using a 45 or 10 mm. It does the job. A little bit of snap is not bad either. Smaller 380s can be snappy. But so is a 45 and such.

    • @srobeck77
      @srobeck77 ปีที่แล้ว

.380 is not a tough anything. It's a compromised round with much less stopping power than a 9mm. .380 does make sense for very recoil-sensitive people and in those tiny subcompact or pocket pistols.
