    Weather guard makes the tool boxes
    Weather tech makes the floor mats.
    And yes weather guard are great boxes, however, very costly.

    V plow vs Snopower pusher is like a spoon vs a ladle. V plows still have there place they probably stack better and they open up roads better… I would say you are moving at least twice as much with ever pass with the F 14 pretty hard to complete with. But if you had 12 plus inches of heavy snow the truck probably Ain’t gonna move it🤷🏻

    It comes down to a choice in plows. The new plow just out preformed the V-plow by its design & the way it can move the snow.

    Running the V plow in scoop would have bulked off that area of the lot much quicker.
    Honestly running both plows in scoop would be the most efficient.
    Yes you will have to double plow a bit, but still quicker then winrowing

    Stan that wasnt even match f14 is 6.5 feet wider than westren plow. Now get a 10.5 westren with wings .lets see what happens . That would be 13 foot wide roughly. Maybe even 14 foot wide. Also lets see the f14 bust threw an ridge a feild that hasnt been plowed this winter yet. Thats wear the westren will shine like a new penny in its elament v plowing. We know each plow has its own place of course. I love my 9.6 mvp3 on my 2002 f-350 supper duty 7.3 its a beast. Have 1300LBS sand in box. Talk about a beast. Your friend from north central ND . I don't like windrows 🙅‍♂️🙅‍♂️ if it's wet heavy snow, Ill scoop and bulk it but if it's lighter I'll keep it angled and used half the plow that way I only go over the lot once. After 10 years I can say western vplows are the best, westerns wideouts are my 2nd favorite.

    When vplow first came out. I remember we had some big storms and the straight plows struggled to clear a lot. They couldn't make it across the lot before snow just got to heavy and they had to back up take smaller bites. And I was able to push more snow and faster with the vplow. I could start my windrow In the v position without any problem in 14 inches of snow.

  • @Jacked97Ram
    @Jacked97Ram ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think it really comes down to the operator and his knowledge of the equipment he’s using. I used a straight blade for most of my life, then had a v plow before “retiring” from plowing. The V was super cool and very efficient. I’m on the side of the V in this competition.
    Also, it appears the straight front portion of the f14 does not angle, I feel it will always leave a windrow in a long push, thus frustrating. I do like how it can angle in transport mode staying low enough to not overheat the vehicle.
    Great video Stan!

  • @steved.5628
    @steved.5628 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don’t have to worry about depth of snow with my boss v plow. With a 14 foot plow I’d have to plow probably every 2 to 4 inches to keep up. Large flat surface you’re OK trying to go up a steep driveway would be very hard on the truck where a V plow cuts right through it without work in the truck. 21:03

    When we push larger and larger plows we are adding more and more strain onto the vehicle transmissions. Transmissions today are very expensive the repair and or to replace. 'Efficiency' also includes the costs of vehicle breakdowns and repairs. The more time the vehicles spends out-of-service and in the shop the less efficient they are and the less work that can get done.

    V-plow operator failure! Even though I believe in that scenario the other plow would be faster. There are also many scenarios where the v-plow would have the advantage. My preference is the boss 9’2” with the add on wings, clears a 11’ path. I think the western makes a 9’6” v-plow, but not sure if they have extensions for it.

    • @jamesnm21

      2 years ago we got 3 inches of wet snow that turned into rain on top of it and then the temps plummeted and everything froze. Trying to break through that stuff was nearly impossible with a straight blade. You couldn't blow it or shovel it either. It took days to get it all cleaned up. Horrible. I figured a V would probably break right through it and have since leaned towards getting one even though I don't need the V configuration for drifts or deep snow where I'm typically plowing.

    I'm glad you showed this plow off. Id recommend you tilt the blade to the side preventing that runoff since a sharper angle will help aswell as putting more weight in the back. I can see this plow being good with a salt box for some extra weight or some sand as I can see it bottoming out on entrances
    this plow would also be great for back dragging due to those sides

    • @justinotten6673
      @justinotten6673 ปีที่แล้ว

      The thing with those types of blades is that there are no angle cylinders, just a lift cylinder. You get the angle by adjusting each wing to windrow.

  • @justinotten6673
    @justinotten6673 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So besides the overall length advantage, there is a geometric advantage as well, a box 🎁 (f 14) (square) will always hold more than a triangle 📐( Western V blade). As long as they have similar dimensions. I had a 8' straight blade that I put box ends on and the held as much snow as my Boss Rt1 9'2" V blade. Everyone has to remember that the length measurement is when the blade is completely straight, when you put a vee blade in full hog, or v position it loses length, as does the snow power when you windrow with it.

    That plow should not be a trannny killer if you have good snow tires and about 1,000 lbs of weight in the back. It's the spinning tires that kills u joints, rear ends, and transmissions. If you can keep the rubber grabbing, you stay more efficient, and save a bit of fuel as well.

    In my experience, Blaine had no chance, but at that depth, I would have just been in full hog mode with the vee. Knowing I would be going over it twice to clean up. When you windrow you usually use only half the length of the blade to prevent spillover in the high side and keep that section clean. I think a more "fair" test would have been Blaine's back blade vs Alex's front blade

Its basically a v-plow/push box. Im able to wind row waaay better than the f-14 and i have wings like the f-14 to capture snow with less cleanup. I'd love to put mine against the f-14. • @SlickBubbles
    @SlickBubbles ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The Western model you have doesn't form a true straight edge, so it loses some snow off the side which a true straight edge wouldn't. As a true straight edge, it can plow deeper snow before spilling over. The truck with the Western was also carrying the back plow, so that causes more fuel consumption and wear on the trannie.
    Will the 14 ft live up to the 'abuse' of plowing? (It's built much lighter, which usually means weaker!) Does it actually push a greater volume of snow? If so, won't that be harder on the trannie than having just the Western or will the extra weight of the Western long term equal this out?
    Point is, without a long term (1 season?) study, noone can really say which is better.

Only thing I wonder about is how it would do in deep snow. Vplow may have the advantage in deep snow. I'm thinking the f14 would struggle in deep snow. Pushing deep snow with a wide plow like that would be hard on the truck. 🤔

    Agreed on the counter balance. Should be some information about that in the manual. Looks like you have no weight on your rear axle running on that hiway. Seems like an accident waiting to happen, having no traction at the rear is going to fishtail the truck.
    Fuel tank isn’t working as counter balance either; probably adding more weight to the front axle. First thing to go is going to be ball joints.

    I would like to see the comparison between the wideout XL and the f14 with the same operator

    I put my money on anything that makes it through a complete plow without breakdowns. Time is money.

    I think a even test would be the 9.5 foot v with wings still 5000 cheaper this isnt a fair shot

      Really you should test it against a western wideout plow, that would be a more even test. And it will also save you about 5000k

    Do the wings on the 14ft plow. Come forward to make a 90 , a box?

    Sno power vs sno power. F14 vs 16 back blade. But push snow with back blade is more effective and efficient then pulling with the back blade. Pushing eliminate steps compared to pulling with back blade

    I work on arctic plow skids resurfacing them pretty regularly. I had a winter equipment salesman stop by and show me some of the skid blocks. Do you know how long they last before you have to change them?

    I feel like the f14 was faster not just bc of size but it was better able to keep the snow from windrowing but that's just me the windrow with the f14 was also significantly smaller than the western
