Why are hospitals always so dark and deserted? When my wife gave birth, even at early hours of the morning, there was still plenty of light and nurses running around. No way any of this shit would ever happen.
I've had an icicle fall on my head before from my grandma's garage in roughly the same location and I was totally fine. All I had to do was ironically ice my wound.
I feel like it hurts the creepiness of Billy as a character when you try to explain why he's a crazed killer. Billy in the original was a mystery, with the audience only ever clearly seeing one of his eyes, but otherwise remained unseen. His phone calls were so unhinged and weird that they only served to make him even creepier. There's no explanation, no hint to the why, he's just a lunatic on a killing spree. The fact that you never clearly see his face, and it's implied that he's still in the house with the final girl at the end only serve to make the whole thing more unnerving.
A large part of the original was the mystery and allowing the audience to fill in the gaps with their own imagination. This film, instead, just took every aspect of the killer and exploited it to build a backstory no one was asking for.
eh, kind of disagree for one reason. I prefer giving him a backstory and changing the focus on the movie instead of doing the same thing as the original (because... why do it then?). You're adding something to the movie. And it lets us know about this movie's version of the killer. I honestly don't get why it's often such a dealbreaker to people - we always knew about Jason's, Michael's, Freddy's, Ghostface's (and I could go on) backstories and it didn't make them any less creepy. We just got why they were doing it and added a bit of depth to them. I don't like the "he was locked in the attic and that's why he now sits there when he kills" because... Seriously? Not because nobody ever looks in the attic? It's just so unnecessary. But him being the victim of horrible abuse makes sense. He's clearly very disturbed in the movie.
@Panonymous Bloom I can understand where you’re coming from, but for me it’s the mystery that’s scarier. Because we never see his face in the original your mind gets to fill in the blanks about Billy, and the phone calls seem to reenact elements of either his life growing up/previous murders he committed. The lack of knowledge also makes us feel as clueless as the characters on screen do. That’s not to say that having backstories for killers can’t work, in some cases it does make things scarier but for this particular film I think it’s better without a specific backstory.

Just do your own thing please). I overall treat this as an alternative universe killer than the same as the OG. Billy is overall a pretty bad killer to give a backstory to. Like, Leatherface, Freddy I would get. There's something to explore. Billy? Not so much since the implication and "freedom of interpretation" is the point. He was never a character per se. Just like making Michael a realistic killer (hello Halloween remakes) is kind of missing the point. But still, prefer this than 1:1, at least I'm not being reminded that I should be watching the original instead lol.
It's the same premise as "Friday the 13th", it was Jason's backstory that made him so great, like Madame Web said, "it's not the how you must master, it's the why", meaning that there's a method to one's madness, something that made them what they are, a reason why they became the villain in the first place, you know what I'm talking about?

Now I appreciate the this remake over the 2019 one. This one at least tries to add stuff and it still feels like it was based on the original. The 2019 makes you hate some of the characters, specially Kris. She's basically this SJW, Twitter's Cancel Culture given flesh. She's annoying, flawless (at least inside the film) and I feel nearly everyone and their momas wish she would get killed... yet she doesn't and she's redeemed as the one that was "right". Plus, who's brilliant idea was to take Billy out of the film? Also, the film doesn't even feel "christmas-y" at all.
You know, I'm surprised you didn't mention the rather troubled production of this film. Mainly how the studio insisted on adding the more bloody and brutal kills and that originally, the creator behind the original "Black Christmas" gave his blessings to the project.
As someone with chronic liver disease, it cracks me up that the killer in this movie is freeeeeaaaky because he has...jaundice. Like, lol, just stick him under a UV lamp! Give the man some Vitamin D!
I believe that this movie has a bunch of pro wrestling references. And I think Billy and Agnes lenz are like judgment day with Rhea, Ripley, and Damian Priest or Dominik Mysterio and Finn Balor
In the UK version Melissa's death is completely different. She doesn't get away but instead falls to the ground where agnes rips out her eyes and eats them. Then she drags melissa BY HER EMPTY EYESOCKETS (note melissa is still screaming as she is being dragged away😵)

I think it’s funny how Michelle Trachtenberg aka Melissa was in a movie called “Ice Princess” where she skates, and in this movie she was killed by a ice skate, not sure if it was just a coincidence but thought it was interesting🤨

I thought it would be a really cool addition if when you finished a series of movies, you could do an award for the coolest and lamest kills of the whole series, think of it as the best golden chainsaw and the worst dull machete, you could call the awards the “platinum claw” and the “rusty knife”, or something like that. I actually really enjoyed this movie i was 13 when it was released and it terrified me, the creepiest part being when he made cookies out of his mothers skin. Maybe its just because i was so young when I watched it initially, but for me it stands out as a horror film. I also loved the fact you couldn't tell who the main character was supposed to be!
I often watch these Kill Count videos while doing makeup for some background noise. I sorta ignored your warning when you said this would be nasty, but holy shit, when you said the mother _raped her 12 year old son_ I nearly stabbed my eye (ha) out with my eyeliner in shock! What the fuck!
Fun Fact: at the 4:30ish mark, the reason the baby looks like he's in Sin City is that the treatment for jaundice is sitting un UV lights, they look kind of like black lights. Usually, the baby has his eyes covered though; my son spent the first 2 wks of his life under those lights due to jaundice, a failure of the liver to function properly causes yellow skin and eyes.

It really bugged me that Agnes looked way older than Billy. It was like they wanted her to look scary and masculine but forgot there was an almost 15 year age difference

I love how 80s kinda nasty this movie is. Great kill count as usual! As for 11:55, according to the script: "KELLI'S POV - THE CEILING From a tiny pinhole in the ceiling, a pale dim hint of blueish light, as if from a cell phone display emits from the hole..." Also, I have the Region 2/UK version on DVD and it the phone calls sound extremely different. Melissa's death scene is also much different.
Currently rewatching EVERY Kill Count in order because I want to make a really cool idea happen and let me tell you there aren’t many people/creators that I can watch hours and hours of content and not get tired of. But James is top of the list. I’ll NEVER get sick of this series/channel.

The ending to this was different for me the first time I saw it. Billy burned in the fire and it ended with Agnes being killed by Kelli. Edit: Melissa's death was also different for me, she got her eyes gouged out.
you know what always bothered me about this movie?? in the trailer, they showed several scenes that NEVER appeared in the movie. like they weren’t even alternate scenes or anything, and if you search for them, you’ll find nothing /: like apparently Dana should’ve died in this death trap that would’ve dragged her into this grinder type of thing made from christmas decorations but that scene doesn’t exist anywhere!! also, in the UK version, Melissa didn’t escaped from getting her head bagged and got her eyes yanked out instead of getting ice skates to her head.
Those scenes were filmed solely for the trailer. It’s been stated by cast and crew that the studio had the actors come back after wrapping, without the director’s knowledge, to film these scenes so the trailer would make the movie look better. I feel some of the scenes would have been way better in the movie as full fledged ones. Apparently Melissa was also considered as a survivor, before they changed it.

I didn't like this movie when i saw it for the first time but now i actually really like it, gore is a little too much here but it's dumb, fun slasher movie and sometimes that's enough. Melissa's kill is also my favourite. Also Lauren's death here means that this is unrated cut, in theatrical version they don't show how she got killed, they only show Kelly and Leigh finding her body

I actually really enjoyed this movie i was 13 when it was released and it terrified me, the creepiest part being when he made cookies out of his mothers skin. Maybe its just because i was so young when I watched it initially, but for me it stands out as a horror film.

Fun Fact: at the 4:30ish mark, the reason the baby looks like he's in Sin City is that the treatment for jaundice is sitting un UV lights, they look kind of like black lights. Usually, the baby has his eyes covered though; my son spent the first 2 wks of his life under those lights due to jaundice, a failure of the liver to function properly causes yellow skin and eyes.

Currently rewatching EVERY Kill Count in order because I want to make a really cool idea happen and let me tell you there aren’t many people/creators that I can watch hours and hours of content and not get tired of. But James is top of the list. I’ll NEVER get sick of this series/channel.

First time I saw this movie, I thought it was okay … then the second remake happened and now I think of this one as a masterpiece

you know what always bothered me about this movie?? in the trailer, they showed several scenes that NEVER appeared in the movie. like they weren’t even alternate scenes or anything, and if you search for them, you’ll find nothing /: like apparently Dana should’ve died in this death trap that would’ve dragged her into this grinder type of thing made from christmas decorations but that scene doesn’t exist anywhere!!
also, in the UK version, Melissa didn’t escaped from getting her head bagged and got her eyes yanked out instead of getting ice skates to her head.
Those scenes were filmed solely for the trailer. It’s been stated by cast and crew that the studio had the actors come back after wrapping, without the director’s knowledge, to film these scenes so the trailer would make the movie look better.
I feel some of the scenes would have been way better in the movie as full fledged ones. Apparently Melissa was also considered as a survivor, before they changed it.

This movie didn't scare me until my first 2 week hospital stay after seeing it. I couldn't stop looking at the ceiling at night waiting to get knifed.
I didn't like this movie when i saw it for the first time but now i actually really like it, gore is a little too much here but it's dumb, fun slasher movie and sometimes that's enough. Melissa's kill is also my favourite. Also Lauren's death here means that this is unrated cut, in theatrical version they don't show how she got killed, they only show Kelly and Leigh finding her body
