It has two other scenes. In one, it asks the kids to draw it some food, and they explain that they only work on commission and can't do any free art requests. In the second, the first drawing is going off to fight Mist, and Calobi says, basically, "You shouldn't fight Mist, but if you do fight Mist, especially don't take the beatboxing puppy". He's very specific about that. The first drawing takes the Beatboxing puppy anyway and they get knocked out of the sky by a giant evil whale.

I can’t believe you forgot the extremely important piece of lore (found in the description) mentioning that the beatboxing puppy is her sidekick.
That kind of makes it more confusing though, because (unless Kurtis didn’t show it) the puppy never shows up again despite apparently being important enough to be in the synopsis.

This movie legitimately feels like a dream. The plotline is constantly changing, things seem to happen for no reason, the words people are saying aren't coherent, nothing stays consistent. Like, this is the first time that saying something feels like a fever dream is entirely accurate

When the girl randomly said "beat-boxing puppy" was when it got really weird, but then the blonde guy pulled out a cup of alcohol to make a toast to that puppy? That makes as much sense as my usual dreams.
It's just like it was written by kids playing pretend on the playground. Especially the way the origin was told three different ways.

The Our Drawings Gas Leak Theory is actually genius. It explains why nothing in the movie makes sense, why the characters act so weird, and why the plot is crazy; they’re hallucinating! The art teacher passing out from the gas leak also makes perfect sense.

Watched the movie and Kurtis is really underselling how disjointed and insane this movie is
The premise reminds me of Akira Kurosawa's Dreams, which has a scene where an art student teleports into Van Gogh's paintings and speaks with the man himself, who is played by Martin Scorsese. Unlike here, the effects in that one are actually breathtaking for a movie made almost 35 years ago, probably largely due to them being rendered by Industrial Light & Magic, George Lucas' SFX company. Highly underrated movie overall, actually, I recommend it to anyone who is interested in traditional Japanese culture and folklore, or just weird, surrealist, arty movies in general.
Also on an unrelated note I love how the twist of this movie is a bald guy with a really deep voice getting up off the floor he spent the entire movie lying on to reveal he was secretly the orchestrator of the whole plot all along, and literally nobody has even mentioned the word "Saw" yet lol.
Whenever there’s a creator self-insert you know it’s gonna be great, especially when their character takes the spotlight away from the main character and gets to do all the actual plot relevant stuff
Yeah, at that point, just make them the main character. Idgaf if it's a "self insert OC", just be honest about who the movie is about.

She was his sidekick, and the beatboxing puppy went on a quest without her so she wouldn't get hurt
He is actually in it for a few scenes but his debut is the only important part, the channel mascot is more of a sidekick tbh. I love that I know this but I can't remember advanced trig anymore

The irony of an anti-AI art movie having the most AI generated sounding script is beyond me
as someone who is interested in animation i do want to give the creator some props for animating an entire movie with two people. most animation teams have at least 50. and while this movie was...questionably written, i don't want to discourage independent artists. that being said, i don't think throwing 5 plot premises on the wall and hoping one makes sense is the way to go about it

Sorry to say, this movie was probably not animated by 2 people and it didn't take as long as they claim. They had "ohio" meme references, talked about AI, a subject that has only been in the public consciousness for a couple years if anything. The creator is definitely lying about how this movie was made. They're apparently a known tracer.
