It is a lot of work as you always want your garden to be at it's best, but remember we are our worst critics. Garden tour people are just so grateful and happy to tour so many lovely gardens no matter what the size.

With the fence painted it will bring everything together for the tour. To me not all places and gardens need to big/large. Most of the time the saying is this: "Less is more" I would if it were me, put down the compost then mulch. Have fun planting the iceberg rose and completing the small area and have a wonderful day.
