We sat down to watch a gardening show over breakfast today. I asked Mike (spouse) what he wanted to watch. He asked if I thought Janie had given an update on the oak tree bed 😅. I said we could watch the front yard tour and find out. You beat out all the other gardening channels. Everything looks great!

Good morning. Love the garden tour and the oak garden is gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing the garden fill out. The corner that you put the iron mixture you will need to keep doing it and do as a preventative to keep on top of it. Love just how you are doing all the gardens and how you want to change some places. But like you said that is how gardening works. You are an amazing gardener and we all learn as we go. Enjoy and have a great day.

Hello! Thanks so much for watching. Yes, I think I just need to schedule the iron for this year. I'm starting to notice more chlorosis on other plants as well!! Have a great day!

Lovely landscaping! Thanks for sharing your joy, very inspiring! Love how you used the Ageratum specifically - until now I'd kept mine in pots, going to venture out into the landscape. Blessings to you and yours, from our Heavenly Father in love.

So excited to watch the oak garden mature! Everything is beautiful. I think to brighten the dark spot maybe something spire shaped that is bright white? White is quite bright from a distance.

I love your tours. I'm south of you, in the Central Valley, and your videos are a great resource as to what I could grow in our 100 degree temperature. On the Star Jasmine, be aware that it might be Black Spot (the spots can be brown). I'm battling the same yellow leaves and brown spots on a vine of mine. I hope yours is just a watering issue. And after seeing your Breath of Heaven, it may be just the thing I've been looking for!

Your Oak tree garden, oh my word, it's going to be stunning this time next yr. And the swoop, well it's already stunning. I was thinking that dark hole would be nice with some white gaura floating around. Really happy for you and the Jasmine. I'm in zone 7b, I've had heliotrope come before, I'm sure it's the same one. I have 3 of that Crape Myrtle, I love the bark on mine as much as the ginormous flowers.

That swoop! 😍 so beautiful! Could you tuck a couple jazzberry plants in the background behind the swoop where you say it needs more color? That would help kind of tie the two places together as well. Under your crape myrtle tree is probably my favorite part of your garden! Obsessed with that foxtail fern! Do you think that would work to grow as an annual in my area? So hard watching your garden tours because I see everything that I want to grow but it just won’t survive in my area 😫 loved the video like always!

    • @DigPlantWaterRepeat
      @DigPlantWaterRepeat  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That is a great idea Mya and I actually just purchased 3 more of the jazz berries! Hopefully they get here and grow quickly! 💗 I think the foxtail would grow as an annual BUT i've found that the first year they grow sooo slowly! Maybe you can use them as a houseplant and then just move them outdoors once it gets warmer to they get that big fuzzy look!?

Your new Oak tree area is so pretty. I have an a but akin in full sun and it actually blooms nearly all year. I'm zone 9b California too. Also have a lot sort slim that grew over 3 ft maybe 4ft. I cut them to bare branches in Jan. I thought I had killed them but they are fine and covered in foliage. I'm going to keep them small.

Everything Looks Beautiful! The only thing I. Wondering about is your Eden Rose - we dealt with Rose Rosette Disease really bad out here in the Dallas, TX Metroplex. That’s the first thing I thought of seeing your burgundy new growth. I’m watching on my tv as I fold laundry and had to get close to the tv to see if they were also excessively thorny also. But they didn’t appear to be. Just keep an eye out for that. We had to take out so many knockout roses and shrubby roses due to that.

I 'm looking forward to the backyard tour too, really enjoyed the front yard and the Oak tree garden. Your hard work paid off. Made a list of things I can use in my zone to maybe try for next year, always adding and taking out as you say. Such a different year with our weather here, cold one minute and rain in inches to three digits the next with the humidity so thick you can cut it with a knife. I have been staying in more then out side this year. Looking forward to next week we will be back in the high 80's, and making my list of things to do for 4-5 day outside till late and meal planning too so we can eat when we are to tired to pop. Stay Safe till your next yard tour.

I'm so pleased that your plumbago all looks amazing, I recently took after transplanting a rose that no longer gets enough light where it was located, I started with a hori hori knife and a shovel, I ended up needing my reciprocating saw with the longest blade I had, it looked like a small plant on the surface... it was a volunteer, I did not plant it, so I had no idea how big the roots were... finally got it out and moved, it looks very sad/dead now, but hopefully, it bounces back next year...

Let your flours dry out at the end of the season and collect the seeds it's amazing how many seeds you get out of the dried pods. you can share with all your neighbors. I live in Kansas and end of every season I collect my seeds. They are black with a white stripe. Just don't pick them before the pods are totally dry.

Everything looks so amazing! What variety of loropetalum do you have? Maybe replace it with a dwarf variety like purple daydream or even dot around some purple pixies so you can keep them but they won’t take over. I love the vertigo pennisetum there. I think it adds so much texture to your yard. I agree with you the sunflowers contrasted with the dark foliage is perfection.

I am so glad to have found your channel as I am also in zone 9B, San Ramon, CA. It is hot, hot, hot! My front yard faces the south so is mostly full sun except under the small 4-year old Japanese maple and a crape mytle tree. I am always struggling with what to plant and where to plant. Your garden tour is certainly inspiring. It is also reassuring that you are dealing with some challenges that I am also faced with. I have some of the same plants you have in your garden, and your information on maintenance is very helpful. I too have loropetalum that has gotten too big. I am nervous about tackling the much need pruning so I am looking forward to you video on pruning that beast. Question - what is the plant with the light pink flowers to the left of the giant cala lily.

Those annuals in the curve look spectacular! I’m sure you will figure some pops of color to put in the area farther from the street.
I am in zone 8a, southeastern NC. I have several varieties of loropetalum in my garden. I did have some of the regular variety like you have. They got pruned at least 3 times a year, did not slow those babies down at all. So I took those out and planted a semi dwarf version that don’t get as big. I have a midsize jazz hands variety that has variegated foliage, really cool. I also have purple pixies which are tiny weeping ones. Mine have been in place for 12 year and are 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide. My landscaper who helps me in my yard cannot believe they are purple pixies. Check out Southern Living plants to get lots of info on loropetalum. There is actually a green version that blooms white. Good luck! Really enjoy your videos.

Loving the swoop! It’s already starting to blend in together, just give it another month and it will be super gorge! I’m so glad you tried the Vista jazzberry this year. I almost got it but I decided to go with good old’ Bubblegums instead. I hadn’t seen what it looked like fully grown in someone’s garden. I had seen some proven winners samples on Laura’s channel, so I wasn’t sure what it was going to look like all grown in, but it just looks so beautiful in your garden and I’m super inspired to try it for next year

Mine did beautifully last year, too, and this year they look terrible like yours, and I'm thinking it is a water issue too. It's like they are rotting at the base. I'm in Virginia, zone 7a. Do those Calla lilies die back in winter? I recently planted them in my garden, we are currently entering winter where i live(Botswana) and they seem to be loosing all their leaves. But looking at yours, it seems yours don’t die back? Or Maybe mine are just dying, never to return 😅

Beautiful Janie! So nice to enjoy with a cup of coffee. I planted a full flat of annuals and woke up the next morning to find out the rabbits had enjoyed a full night of feasting! Do you have problems with bunnies?

AAACKK!! I would be so mad! No we have no bunnies here, but in the north part of our town they are all over! Hopefully they dont make their way towards my neighborhood! 🤞🏼 Thanks for watching and i hope they stay away from the rest of your plants!

Oh bummer! I fertilize with the proven winners water soluble fertilizer every week and then also spray BT to protect against budworms! Good luck!

Hi Janell! Thank you so much! I just looked at a bunch of pictures of rose rosette and it doesn't look like it! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 I'll definitely keep an eye out though and thank you for looking out! PS I do the same thing, folding laundry and watching youtube videos! 😆
