It must be frustrating for Matt because he doesn’t get any help from his center mid or left center mid I guess it’s the type of formation I don’t know what the coach is trying to do but this formation pushes the left and right back to take more people on and pushes Matt to be more of a playmaker lol
Honestly I find all the meta analysis that comes from you uploading these videos to be the best. We get your perspective and the perspective of all the commentators and it’s really great to read all these things, really helps me learn more about football

What’s up dude. With so much playing time under your boots I’d like to know how you feel about playing on grass vs turf. I’ve had two grade 3 ankle injuries on turf and have since retired from turf. In addition the physics of the ball are very different on both surfaces, as the ball skips on turf rather than roll. This makes its seem as if you are playing two different games. Would love to hear your input. Thanks for making these videos to inspire others into what it takes to get there! Cheers.
I got to meet Mat Sheldon on the 3rd when they played energy fc is was awesome 😎 btw I didn’t realize you had said eliot my name is actually Elier but thank you for taking the time to say hi and taking a photo with me thank you 🙏🏻
6:33 -- Tip. Your CMs are footballers, any basic footballer can do a one-two. You have two excellent options: Knock the ball to #6 who returns it immediately and does a simple sidestep towards your goal into an acre of space (since #17 or the attacker to your right would press you, and if they don't YOU have the acre of space), or you could pass it to the left of #6 allowing him to do a simple (though slightly more difficult) sidestep to control and turn his marker (#17). And in all this, you look like a god among men. Without watching though, I am almost certain that you will "clip it to your forwards" or kick it down the wing. You could additionally give #7 a through ball forward (on his right, so he'd run straight ahead) but I can't see if there's space ahead of him so that seems risky. Seeing you (and your team in general) miss out on those basic football plays is frustrating man. Y'all are supposed to be pros!
Hey Matt I’m a rb/Cb/RW and I’m currently 5’11 62kg 15 years old and have pretty good physical aspects to my game which has gotten me to reach the senior team for my club which is pretty good but do you have any kind of drills that could help me with my current build any thing will help, as my technical ability has been a bit shit lately all I need is some solo drills to help me in a game for example first touch, dribbling and heading any thing will help.
While we can agree you were a bit sloppy with passes, what bugs me the most is the lack of attacking runs on your part. I can see you were being marked, but most of the time you resorted to simple passes to your teammates. Try work on your pace and acceleration. You had miles of empty space upfront in this game, it's just you didn't take chances to surge forward. And man DRIBBLE ON THE LINE TRY TO TAKE ON A PLAYER even if turns out to be a physical battle on the line this helps you in creating scoring opportunities! Losing the ball in the opponents half when trying to get forward and create space is better then losing it to a bad pass!
Unless you are a professional playing at the highest level then refrain from commenting things like this. @@TanLFC7 You're right he has to listen to his manager after all that's his boss, But either way matt has to speak up if he wants to keep playing pro. Some coaches might not be open to critique or might not have dialogue with their players much but ultimately my point is that commenting what he has to do from someone he has never ever met or who isn't even a professional is pointless because like he said he doesn't give a shit.
TLFC7 the coaches obviously aren’t good. Only 6 shots? They need to get more aggressive. Take shots from 30 yards out. It creates rebound opportunities. Must take shots if u want to win. This is boring soccer; partly why the USA doesn’t like soccer

Good defensive play. I think you should take more risks on opponent's half from time to time. And sometimes consider cutbacks rather than crosses. Anyway, just suggestions. Good luck, man. Wish you all the best!
Since Tulsa is in the Western Conference and Louisville is in the Eastern Conference, they only way they can meet is in the USL final or in the US Open Cup. If Matt plays for an Eastern team next season, he’ll have a game in Louisville. The new stadium looks awesome.

Man, you need to respect the mobility of your teammates (especially your CMs, and particularly number 6). They may have a man next to them but if you pass into the space away from their marker they are guaranteed to receive the pass. Take 5:55 for example. Knock the ball to #6 half a yard upfield (within the centre circle) or even to his feet. He is guaranteed to receive it before his marker and his marker is forced to either rush in and be beaten sweetly, or jocky and have #6 play a composed pass to the other CM higher upfield. It's simple, quick one or two touch play.
It doesn’t matter honestly. People that criticize people that want to start working out early on never get anywhere. My advice would honestly be to just start with anything just to get the feel for every exercise. I recommend push ups, squats, jumping lunges, and planks.
@@valterwesterholm2352 no how dare you I hate people who put a stupid unnecessary awnser to a serious question I want to workout cos I'm not strong enough on the ball
Feels sorry for you.. the center mid (number 6) needs to do a lot more and control the game. Every time you had the ball he wasn’t an option. Not just him there is no rotation or movement from the midfield. Doesn’t matter about the altitude.. both teams play in it
i see typical american players' problem, regardless of pro or amateur: 1. many decisions (where you'll touch the ball to) may be made, before you receive the ball. you can really observe/decide BEFORE your teammate pass to you (you watched beforehand, but you need to try DECIDE too). and the scanning job is actually quite simple. you usually only need to check your left mid, and center mid. 2. have you considered that everytime you received a ball, don't stand there on sideline. at the 1st moment, dribble inside for 1 or 2 steps, by cutting inside a few feet, you create more spaces for you (to the sideline, or pass back to center back), left mid, and center mid, (since their enemy will move wide because of you cutting inside merely 5 feet) if you think deeper why. i watched a few videos, your touch in training is much better than in game ---- most players do too, but still, soccer is ultimately a brain game. you must create some variables in your play...... for what we see in the last 2 games, there is not much potential to expect down the road. you have to have a bigger heart. Modern LB/RB play like indiana jones. not for personal showing off, but it represents the modern soccer science there. think about Marcello, Arnold, Robertson, you have to play like them to get to next level. Safe LB/RB is everywhere, modern LB/RB is only in Europe, why? Why not?
Hey Matt, if you read this it could help you but you know your green vapors, I found a website that had stocked them in bulk and is selling them for $99 USD, It is called Pro Soccer Store. It might be fake but I guess it's worth checking out :)) Great video by the way, like always!
Not wanting to preempt things but there's the full game of Tulsa Roughnecks FC vs Phoenix Rising FC from July 27th on the USL channel. This should give us a good idea of how the whole team plays. Watch it here: th-cam.com/video/fNfYCINJBLI/w-d-xo.html Also, @Matt, I know I (and a lot of others here) might sound critical and sometimes berating of your team, gameplay, and analysis but I really appreciate what you're doing here. For all the disagreement and differences in opinion it's still a great way of exposing others to the game of football and what it means to be pro (and you ARE pro regardless of your ability or football IQ). Keep it up man (and maaaaybe take some of our advice on board, especially non-US nationals as football is something that permeates our communities more than your average American community).
All these people are giving their opinions on how your team played, and I bet maybe 1 of them has actually ever tuned in to watch your team play before.
Your midfield not dynamic enough, poor timing and support with build up. I bet even worse at creating chances with strikers. Why didn’t your defender jump with the set play that scored? It did hit his back , looked like he just there to be there . Finally,You’re right on with your self analysis . I’ll be watching to see you makes those adjustments. 👍
That "clip it in to the forward" thing is irksome. They have receive an air ball while 1 v THREE against defenders who are bigger than them. Come on! That's just wasteful.
Dont send your forward enles they have space and they are making a run also you guys should stop crossing the middle of the feld thats how u lose the ball
You are such a good player but, you need to go more forward to create more chances for ur teammates so u can be more productive player i mean u can go attack because u are a, left back so usually left backs attack the net more they are more productive, but anyways ur football is very good and I'm happy about it keep Going :)
Im from europe honestly i think the level of quality is just not existed in America..i am playing on conference level at france and seriously i think we have better pace than those teams..Sad
As you go higher the atmospheric pressure decreases, therefore lower oxygen pressure (PO2) and when you exercise your muscles needs oxygenated blood (the oxygen goes to your blood and delivers to muscles). It is harder to exercise at high altitude (elevation).
I don’t like how matt isn’t creative with his style of play at times but I’m sorry his midfield does such a poor job at checking it in and creating an option. As fullback your options are limited and when your midfielders don’t check in when your under pressure the only thing you can do is go back but also matt doesn’t do that good of a job at passing through the gaps in middle. I get he has a certain style of play from his coach but matt just has to be more creative with his offensive game it’s to direct.
U need a lot of work my friend , u need to be a more of a man with the ball, dribble when u can and more long balls ( switching it) coming from a lil pro in spain
François Maurice Your top comment leads me to believe that you’re a mediocre player. So no you don’t know what you’re talking about. Players of high level like Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo don’t follow their coach instead their coach tells the team to play for them because they are leaders on the field. They don’t need to be told what to do because they follow their intuition creativity and imagination. Players like you and Sheldon and everyone who agreed with your comment most likely play the game safe boring and never take risks and that is why you will never be a high level player. So yes my friend keep listening to your coach and play it safe. That’s what is expected from the crowd and that’s why everyone in the comment section agrees with you because to stand out you have to risk going against what everyone believes and it sounds like you know nothing about that.
Your midfield doesn't often give good options when your on the ball
This is too helpful. Our world does not deserve this much good content

heading 13 (he's pretty good in the air)

--- Mental
aggression 7 (he's not an aggressive player)
anticipation 11 (he sees some of what's going)
bravery 13 (he gets himself battered sometimes)
composure 11 (he panics a good deal)
concentration 12 (he isn't always aware but his head is generally on)
decisions 8 (sorry, they're not that good)
determination 16 (his strongest attribute)
flair 6 (not much there but the outside foot pass vs Timbers II, i think it was, was a hint of pizzaz)
leadership 8 (he doesn't command his teammates AT ALL)
off the ball 7 (a lot missing there)
positioning 13 (I think he's really great in that regard, it's almost 14 but he needs a bit of work)
teamwork 15 (he sacrifices a lot for the team and works well with the given instructions but his collaboration with them is poor)
vision 7 (really lacking at seeing options, consider his lack of ideas for crossfield balls)
work rate 13 (he does a good bit though he's somewhat static, this game cost him some points imo)

acceleration 12 (injury maybe took him down two notches)
agility 11 (he seems decent there but his attempts at beating out players show that he's not that good)
balance 12 (he gets pushed over a lot but he can hold his own)
jumping reach 12 (he's surprisingly good for a guy his height)
natural fitness 11 (seems a bit injury prone and takes a while to recover)
pace 12 (injuries hurt him but compared to pros I can see he's not amazing)
stamina 14 (he can hold his own although I haven't seen him running too much)
strength 11 (he gets by
Personality: Resolute (great professionalism, good ambition, great determination)
Media handling style: media friendly, level-headed
--- A few hidden attributes
weak foot 8 (he's better than he thinks, in that regard)
pressure 9 (he doesn't handle it well)
temperament 15 (he takes things good in general)
controversy 9 (he doesn't create problems in the media but that "she's leaving me" video shows that he can play with the media)
big games 13 (he can handle them decent and actually looks forward to them)
-- Player traits
plays no through balls
plays short simple passes
stays back at all times (hardly makes overlapping runs)
sticks to right wing
(can't think of the others right now)
In summary (my opinion):
Matt would make it as a regular in League Two of the English Football League but his physicals are lacking so I'd recommend the National League, could play as a regular in Swedish Superettan (2nd division), would make it in Ligue 2 (French 2nd div), would probably make it in USL but his physicals are not there)
Recommendation: Join Hashtag United and make a name for yourself or go to Sweden, France, Belgium, or maybe England for a lower league team.
Ava word with the centre mid about dropping an making angles.also your forward runs shouldn’t be token gestures
Obviously your playing a poor standard but this is basic stuff

They may have a man next to them but if you pass into the space away from their marker they are guaranteed to receive the pass. Take 5:55 for example. Knock the ball to #6 half a yard upfield (within the centre circle) or even to his feet. He is guaranteed to receive it before his marker and his marker is forced to either rush in and be beaten sweetly, or jocky and have #6 play a composed pass to the other CM higher upfield. It's simple, quick one or two touch play.

Cool video bro😎
would matt join a new USL team next season ?
Anyone should I start bodyweight workouts because I'm 11(12 in 2 days)and if so how many reps and sets and how many days a week please help
gideon oyukoo if you’re 11 and you have to worry about that you just probably have anorexia or your just training to little
No you shouldnt start body weight's for a couple more year's.
@@davidgoal6890 cheers mate at least your helping me and you actually leaving a necessary comment to try and help people
God bless you my friend x
Feels sorry for you.. the center mid (number 6) needs to do a lot more and control the game. Every time you had the ball he wasn’t an option. Not just him there is no rotation or movement from the midfield. Doesn’t matter about the altitude.. both teams play in it
i see typical american players' problem, regardless of pro or amateur:
1. many decisions (where you'll touch the ball to) may be made, before you receive the ball. you can really observe/decide BEFORE your teammate pass to you (you watched beforehand, but you need to try DECIDE too). and the scanning job is actually quite simple. you usually only need to check your left mid, and center mid.
2. have you considered that everytime you received a ball, don't stand there on sideline. at the 1st moment, dribble inside for 1 or 2 steps, by cutting inside a few feet, you create more spaces for you (to the sideline, or pass back to center back), left mid, and center mid, (since their enemy will move wide because of you cutting inside merely 5 feet) if you think deeper why.
i watched a few videos, your touch in training is much better than in game ---- most players do too, but still, soccer is ultimately a brain game. you must create some variables in your play...... for what we see in the last 2 games, there is not much potential to expect down the road. you have to have a bigger heart. Modern LB/RB play like indiana jones. not for personal showing off, but it represents the modern soccer science there. think about Marcello, Arnold, Robertson, you have to play like them to get to next level. Safe LB/RB is everywhere, modern LB/RB is only in Europe, why?
Why not?
He's not that you know america
I think the azteca stadium has the highest elevation
Noti squad!!
Great game
Hey Matt, if you read this it could help you but you know your green vapors, I found a website that had stocked them in bulk and is selling them for $99 USD, It is called Pro Soccer Store. It might be fake but I guess it's worth checking out :)) Great video by the way, like always!
Not wanting to preempt things but there's the full game of Tulsa Roughnecks FC vs Phoenix Rising FC from July 27th on the USL channel. This should give us a good idea of how the whole team plays.
Watch it here: th-cam.com/video/fNfYCINJBLI/w-d-xo.html
Also, @Matt, I know I (and a lot of others here) might sound critical and sometimes berating of your team, gameplay, and analysis but I really appreciate what you're doing here.
At 10:40 I'm saying "PLEASE give a square pass into space for your CB" ... but noppe.. Back to the keeper (or whoever is back there). #sigh
How much money do you make playing soccer?
Dont send your forward enles they have space and they are making a run also you guys should stop crossing the middle of the feld thats how u lose the ball
You are such a good player but, you need to go more forward to create more chances for ur teammates so u can be more productive player i mean u can go attack because u are a, left back so usually left backs attack the net more they are more productive, but anyways ur football is very good and I'm happy about it keep Going :)
what do you mean by elevation?
The field is probably up on a mountain (so high above sea level with thinner air and thus less oxygen, making it harder to breathe and run hard).
Im from europe honestly i think the level of quality is just not existed in America..i am playing on conference level at france and seriously i think we have better pace than those teams..Sad
No passion...
It does look like you're more effective on the right side...
Is it the mls
USL 2nd division in America
I love you as a player and ytuber but I feel like you could be more creative and outgoing at times during your game
The refs legs at 8:50
What does elevation do with this ?
As you go higher the atmospheric pressure decreases, therefore lower oxygen pressure (PO2) and when you exercise your muscles needs oxygenated blood (the oxygen goes to your blood and delivers to muscles). It is harder to exercise at high altitude (elevation).
Harder to breath
Mokhtar Nasseri thanks for the explanation
Does he get paid in this club?
Yes
I don’t like how matt isn’t creative with his style of play at times but I’m sorry his midfield does such a poor job at checking it in and creating an option. As fullback your options are limited and when your midfielders don’t check in when your under pressure the only thing you can do is go back but also matt doesn’t do that good of a job at passing through the gaps in middle. I get he has a certain style of play from his coach but matt just has to be more creative with his offensive game it’s to direct.
Dare yourself to do more
Take more risk in your style of playing or you gonna stay at that level
matt why don't you make the gamely blogs anymore? they're really cool tbh.
The next video is a Game Day vlog for our Derby match against OKC Energy. Stay tuned for that one coming out soon.

Nice
Hi Matt I'm your nephew
Is it me or do I feel that your team's set piece defending has cost you a lot of points lately?
Matt you need to improve your crosses. Your defensive game is good but your offense needs work. Not talking Shit. Just constructive criticism
I feel so frustrated :( Your teammates need more blood to flow in their veins.
Work on crosses you do bad every time, come on you’re good player
Everyone is wrong except you? All the passing is close...then what is open? Just pass to them
Wow Tulsa is dreadful
guys hop off matt is a professional and you are not this is the way you have to play the game otherwise you will be exposed
#Notification Squad
How many likes i get is how many goals my team score today
U need a lot of work my friend , u need to be a more of a man with the ball, dribble when u can and more long balls ( switching it) coming from a lil pro in spain
Elotes_69 E, r u actually pro
François Maurice Do you know what you’re talking about?
You try to impress people , just be simple , us soccer so ass
15 games without a win lol

Fucking hell show some form of creativity and optimism going forward. You are better than how you are playing.
