The Caribbean Princess is special to me also. Had my first balcony on her when she was still brand new. Almost 20 years ago. Used to cruise with my best friend of 50 years. Lost him to cancer last year. I have the Utopia booked in November .. but I will be solo. Cruise 24. Enjoy your friendship Tony and Don. It'll be a memory one day.
Sorry for your loss. I am happy you will still cruise on your own, your friend will be happy that you are still cruising and you will forever have him still with you as you travel ❤❤❤
FYI Icelanders do not have official "last names": they have patronymics. such as Samuel's if your father's name is Samuel or Sigridsdottir if your mother's name is Sigrid.
OK...now I am sold...as soon as we get a Tony and Don walking and immersing and discovering together vibe...no strength to narrow destinations due to living in colder climates...it is all wonderfu travel lit fodder and yes yes yes. The culture looks so clean and lovely, Sea and fresh rain when 50 and above is not ab at all...hands are not begging for gloves. You two are the best and it is so great to share a cruising friendship like this. Every video like this one is a mini vacation...so grateful...thank you.
Aw, i recognize the waterfall at the beginning of your video and that you can see from the cruise ship! We also saw a baby seal by the whale tail statue. We went a year ago. Have a great cruise!
I bought a pair of socks while on a tour out of Reykjavik. They were 8500 Icelandic kroner. Which is about $20 usd. Prices were nuts there. But they did have cute puffins on them.
When we arrived there May 16, 2023 it was snowing but we were really for it. Everything look like it was black and white. We stayed over night so we got to see a lot more. The second day the sun came out and it was different kind of beautiful.
One of my favorite beers is from Akureyri, Iceland, Einstok Toasted Porter! We celebrated our 10 year anniversary 11 years ago on the Caribbean Princess!
We took a Holland America cruise out of Boston, up Maine, Canada, Greenland, circumvented Iceland and back to Greenland, St. Pierre and back to Canada and Maine and back to Boston. 25 days. And it was marvelous.
Love your Icelandic videos - I wound up watching the excursion to Godafoss first, then this one. There‘s something magical about just wandering around a port city…
Hopefully the visit to Akureyri was pleasant. Here is some information. The street with the art museum, these buildings were used for industry. "Ketilhús" housed a large steam boiler and the steam was used in the houses above where dairy products were processed. The Blue House (which is now a cafe), this building had 3 shops. There was a gift/toy store on the left and a thrift store on the right. On the floor above was a shop that sold materials for sewing. 🙂🙂🙂🙂
104 degrees. Living vicariously through you. Thanks Tony! That walk to the church reminds me of my first PT test without a track. Run to the flag and back. It seemed SO close. 😂😂😂
My husband and I are 'land locked ' for a while and I'm living vicariously through your vlogs, thank you! I'm making mental notes of all the places I want to visit when we can cruise again.❤
Looks like an Interesting town to explore. That dog was definitely enjoying a nice swim and made me smile but the breaking news about Don's Doughnuts made me laugh!!
I've visited Iceland a few times and it is seriously my favourite place on earth. Renting a van and going on a multi days tour is the way to go, there is just so much beauty to take in.
I'm going to be in Akureyri 9/28 onboard the NCL PRIMA. I greatly appreciate the first look. My excursion is at 12:30, so I will be doing your walk, that was Beautifully presented. Thank you
Iceland, Norway and Alaska have been some of my favorite places to cruise. I see now that in future years things will be different with restrictions and such.
Hey Tony loved your videos from your Greenland trip looks like you had an awesome cruise. Happy you put that crazy lady in her place what happened to chilling out your on vacation. Thank you for making all those great videos while you were on your vacation so we could all enjoy your experiences can’t wait to go on my next one we all appreciate your hard work.
Iceland is a truly magical place. The only way to really experience it is by car though. We did an 11-day self driving tour last summer and it 100% amazing.
Just a note for anyone going to Iceland....Their pharmacies have very limited drugs. Most things that we (in the US) consider over-the-counter, they need a prescription for. For example, cold medicine, Ibuprofen..... I am doing these ports next year so am enjoying the preview! Thanks Tony!
My sister and I will be there in a few weeks on a cruise! I can't wait. We have an early excursion so hope to walk a bit after and this video was great. Thanks!
Don’t you just love their stop lights? We walked up to the botanical gardens, past that church, and had coffee. Also went to the waterfall of the gods; I hope your tour guide told you the story. It was actually warm and sunny when we were there in July 2023.
Back in 2018 our transatlantic cruise was supposed to spend one day in Akureyri. But there were some very rough seas, so we ended up spending 3 days there (along with 3 other ships) since it is such a sheltered port. We had a planned excursion to Godafoss one day, but the other two days we just walked around the city. Such a lovely place (the church, the botanical garden, the waterfront, the traffic lights where the red lights are heart-shaped, etc) - and we found a great bakery cafe that had free WiFi.
Caribbean Princess is our favorite ship. We love it for warm weather cruises because Skywalkers provides shade for the aft pool which is less crowded than the main pools. We also love that they have left the Wheelhouse bar as a nice uncrowded place to have a drink and listen to some live music. Emerald Princess took a lot of Wheelhouse and put in casual dining.
I was on Sky Princess last month and also went to Godafuss Falls and the botanical gardens, as well as time spent wandering the town. It was my second time there, with a gorgeous day the previous visit and most of the townspeople out enjoying activities in the main square you showed. It was quieter this time on a cooler day, but is still one of my favourite ports. I look forward to seeing your upcoming posts of this cruise, as well as Don's posts. It is fun seeing places you know and re-visiting my trip through your eyes. Thanks so much!
Iceland is fantastic. Have visited. Let me know if you visit the "Little Forest" a tourist attraction. My granddaughter is a US/Icelander dual citizen. While Mexico drinks the most CocoCola Icelanders drink more percapita. Icelands famous hot dogs are lamb, they have others but the lamb their most famous.
I LOVE Iceland! I performed with the USO and my first tour stop was Iceland (I thought I was dreaming when I was told it was one of my stops)! After watching this I must cruise there! Thanks for the reminder Tony 👍🏿
I never even realized that there were cruises that did Iceland and the UK until we went to Iceland and did a Puffin boat ride- met a British couple on a cruise. I really want to take a British isles cruise but Just fyi - Iceland is extremely easy to drive around. It also is just beautiful to drive around. Many of the natural wonders are right next to parking lots too- I would have never thought in an environment that can be so unforgiving you actually can have a lot of access to natural beauty no matter your physical capabilities. Just do your research and it is easy to plan a trip there based on your individual capabilities. Just follow some of the Iceland TH-camrs and always get the extra car insurance (don’t depend on your credit card - believe me - way easier).
Thanks for this tour. I've been through Iceland several times, but never left the airport until traveling back from a Mediterranean cruise last year. I'm about to book a cruise for Greenland & Iceland, and can't wait.
We went to Iceland last year. The waterfall at the beginning of your video, shows how hot the water is coming from the ground…it is steaming as it hits the cold North Atlantic. Loved this cruise. Have fun, Tony.
Loved Iceland! Be sure to try the ice cream. If you buy anything, be sure to read where it was made. Those stores that sell Icelandic goods have them made elsewhere. And, the waterfall of the gods is amazing.
I literally had a hotdog from that same trailer in 2019. So cool to see the town again. We will be back up there again and Greenland next summer with Celebrity. Already looking forward to it. Thanks for the views.
I envy your being in Iceland, my grandfather came from there but have never got to visit. Good luck to Don with his donut 🍩 empire. Thank goodness they have many food choices for all those starving souls from the cruise ship !
Tony, keep your shorts on when visiting to the Blue Lagoon . Another eruption is due any day. Lucky 🍀 you. You will drive through the Berns surrounding and protecting the site . So you are safe Enjoy
Finally able to get my wife to go on an Alaska cruise leaving in 4 weeks. She figured as long as she had cold weather cruise gear, we may as well book an Iceland/ Greenland cruise on the Brilliance of the seas in about a year.
The Caribbean Princess is special to me also. Had my first balcony on her when she was still brand new. Almost 20 years ago. Used to cruise with my best friend of 50 years. Just sending good vibes for your trip...loss is lousy...pray you have a very special time.
One of my favourite things about cruising is waking up and seeing what the port looks like. I am always in awe
FYI Icelanders do not have official "last names": they have patronymics. such as Samuel's if your father's name is Samuel or Sigridsdottir if your mother's name is Sigrid.
You were in great form today. From "book worms unite" to your art explanation of the art museum. Keep up the great entertainment!

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Iceland. Thank you. It’s so beautiful. I pray Jenny and your family in Florida will be safe from the hurricane 🙏
Thank you 😊

Coats in the middle of summer. Sounds like my kind of place.

Thank you for the Don/David comment. Just spit my coffee all over the coffee table I just cleaned yesterday 🤣🤣🤣
Never been to Iceland but now I wanna go. Hope Jenny B is hunkering down and safe.
I am thank you 😊
I'm excited that Caribbean Princess will be home ported at my home port of Port Canaveral in November! I can't wait!!!
My husband and I are 'land locked ' for a while and I'm living vicariously through your vlogs, thank you! I'm making mental notes of all the places I want to visit when we can cruise again.❤

I really dig it when the ship does that awesome pirouette to dock.❤

Love that you're adventuring in other parts of the world! LOVE listening and watching your "take" on things! Enjoy your cruise! 🛳
I loved Akureyri and Isafjourdur. We must be following behind you.
I really enjoy the interaction between you guys. Glad is see the fun you are having.
Iceland is so fantastic!
I loved every port we visited on two cruises and will definitely cruise there again!
There is still sooooooo much to see!
Fond memories for me, too . . . went on my fourth honeymoon on the Caribbean Princess . . . that was one of my favorite marriages.
😂😂😂
Thanks for sharing
Love the walk & talk
Love the videos, Tony keep them coming. It’s great to come along for your adventures.
Iceland, Norway and Alaska have been some of my favorite places to cruise. I see now that in future years things will be different with restrictions and such.
Iceland is great because of the people that live there!
We were there a week ago on Holland America. Weather was unbelievably good.
Hi Tony and Don!! We want to go to Iceland! Thank you for taking us along!!!🥰🥰🥰
😂 Y'all are so funny and fun to watch!

There is an Ice ware shop at the Reycvick port as well.
Iceland is a truly magical place. The only way to really experience it is by car though. We did an 11-day self driving tour last summer and it 100% amazing.
I’ve been there three times I love Iceland the people are amazing ❤
A beautiful country, very safe, very friendly people.

Also in Reyjavik a great restaurant is Bastards. Delicious drinks & food. Next to Sands hotel
Tony
Over and over again you never fail to provide outstanding vlogs. Thanks for a wonderful tour.
Glad I did my travels when I was younger and could walk more.
My sister and I will be there in a few weeks on a cruise! I can't wait. We have an early excursion so hope to walk a bit after and this video was great. Thanks!
The hot dog bun’s ash color was great 😂
Don has a “Hole” lot of experience to perfect his donuts! Let’s see it and try one!! 😂
Is he REALKY buying a donut shop there???😮
If you have time and the tour is available the Food Walk with Wake Up Reykjavik is fantastic. And they are a great tour company to work with.
Don’t you just love their stop lights? We walked up to the botanical gardens, past that church, and had coffee. Also went to the waterfall of the gods; I hope your tour guide told you the story. It was actually warm and sunny when we were there in July 2023.
Great dialogue with the video
Great video! You expressed the awesomeness we feel cruising too

There are lots of whale's in Akurayri. Got up early in June and we passed 18 on the way in 😊😊😊
Hi Tony. So much to see and do. Will definitely have to go on the list. Thank you for all you do.
Don's donuts 😂 you guys are so entertaining 🎉
Thank you for sharing Iceland with us. It's so helpful for those of us planning to visit there soon. Your videos are so enjoyable 😊
Make sure to look at the channel ‘Iceland with a view’ really helped us with our planning.
I love watching your vids like this. Just wandering around a city and seeing the city itself.

Ive been in November and it was knee high snow. Spectacular though.

Nice little town and not too crowded. Enjoy your excursion.
You and Don have such a nice time together 😊❤
That church reminds me of Rekavich Go inside if you can is very cool modern design.
Reykjavik means “smoky bay”, named by the Vikings. The cathedral is beautiful in Reykjavik. I went there on the Island Princess.
Fjords Are absolutely Amazing, been to the Norwegian fjords twice. They are Breathtaking!!
Keep the Caribbean Princess pretty for us. We Embark as you disembark.
Love those destination talks! So helpful!
I LOVE Iceland! I performed with the USO and my first tour stop was Iceland (I thought I was dreaming when I was told it was one of my stops)! After watching this I must cruise there! Thanks for the reminder Tony 👍🏿

Terrific job as always. This is the town in Iceland that brews my favorite beer.
Thanks for bringing us along. You're a great tour guide.
One of my favorite places. Lived there for 5 years.
Tony- you have great energy to do all these excursions!! Have fun! Don’t work Don too hard! 🤣

Thank you 🙏🏼
Ur videos have been very helpful
I envy your being in Iceland, my grandfather came from there but have never got to visit. Good luck to Don with his donut 🍩 empire. Thank goodness they have many food choices for all those starving souls from the cruise ship !
Don could have a problem though. Since he is only experienced in eating them. He could eat all the profits.
I totally enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing!!
It was so fun watching y'all in Iceland. I thought I was about the ship for your cruise vlogs but I've really been loving your shore excursions.
Iceland is amazing. Just got back from being on the Sky Princess several weeks ago. Enjoy all the amazing sites!
Were you on the June 29th cruise? It was awesome.
Yes what an amazing cruise in both Norway and Iceland 😊
Say hi to my cousins ! Haven’t been back in years but if you have ever read the sagas you’ve read about my family. Proud of my Icelandic heritage!
That hot dog bun looks as if it was all mold.😊
We just came back from Iceland. You are going to love it. Try Sky lagoon. It's Wonder ❤
Beautiful, loved our visit when we cruised on Celebrity Reflection from Ireland to Iceland
Icelandic Hot Dog stands are the best! Try em...
I can’t wait to go to Iceland, looks fantastic!
I love your tour videos Tony, thank you for my armchair visit!
Tony, keep your shorts on when visiting to the Blue Lagoon . Another eruption is due any day. Lucky 🍀 you. You will drive through the Berns surrounding and protecting the site . So you are safe Enjoy
I loved Iceland so Beautiful
It’s such a beautiful city. I hope the sun comes out for you. We were there last year on a sunny day.
I really like your videos. You detail the places so well it feels like we are traveling with you
Thanks!
Just went on our first Alaska cruise and loved it. This cruise stop looks beautiful! ❤we definitely need to experience Iceland
Finally able to get my wife to go on an Alaska cruise leaving in 4 weeks. She figured as long as she had cold weather cruise gear, we may as well book an Iceland/ Greenland cruise on the Brilliance of the seas in about a year.
What a great looking town. ❤
