Harness assembly is different for a 2022 Lariat 501A Supercrew. There is now just one combined plug, for the rear running light and the rear stoplight & backup light, with MANY different colored wires…
I think it would look tacky if it’s on drl I like the look of the emblem without the lighting on so I’m just going to hook it up to my brake lights more as a safety feature for me
I know, right?! What a mediocre (at best) installation. I would start with cleaning the emblem's old double sided tape residue, put new one, then the wiring with the exposed metal. Ridiculous.
I found one on Amazon that’s all black but still lights up red for 50 bucks “Reese Towpower 86620 Emblem (Ford Lighted Logo Black Finish)” It fit my 2019 F150 XLT but make sure you get some extra 3M tape because the back is flat and the 3M tape that’s on it it’s not very secure but I also used a little bit of JB Weld and made a bracket for the back still worth the $47 compared to the 188

It would sure be nice if one wouldn't have to cut into factory wiring like that, It would be nice if there was something that could clip through the trailer connection like a electrical hub that would be water resistant an if one needed a switch they could just run a wire to the cab
The problem with that, is when you connect to the trailer wiring, the computer tells the truck, you are towing something. It goes to default trailer mode, and shuts off your rear camera.
I installed this as directed and I think it has caused a problem with my tail lights, possibly a resistance issue. My connections are secure. I have had multiple people warn me my tail lights aren’t working. Not sure what’s going on here yet but started when emblem installed
I would definitely use some wire loom and shrink tube on all the connections because all those connections can get corroded and living in the north east with the salt and weather conditions it can be bad I love American trucks but there install videos aren’t quite the best especially if it’s someone that doesn’t really know about installs they need to be a little more informative to there viewers and customers just saying
You read my thoughts, Dan. They could have done a much cleaner install on this. It looked like they already tapped into the tail light wires and then did a crappy job of tapping them up.
Those plastic clip connections are absolutely horrible and a future failure waiting to happen.. I'd rather see a plug and play splice connector using oem connectors. I'd pay $20 or $30 more for such a complete kit.
Will this fit an 08 f150, the illuminated f150 side fender emblems are advertised as fitting 09 -up, but there is a vid of a guy putting the same emblem on an 04 f150 with no alteration.
It's not JUST an emblem, it's an extremely bright LED accent that also acts as a running light. It's a much different look, with much different functionality. Definitely not just an emblem! - Adam
If it was cheap, it would be on everybody's truck. That's why it's nice. Every chopped lowrider would have one. Every POS primered grey truck, LA to NYC would be sporting them. I want my truck to be different. You can get the cheap knockoffs, but after awhile, you are going to look at it, when it's half lit, and faded almost white, and think, wtf was I thinking?
@@johnwood406, Agreed!! I tried the knockoff with the much cheaper price. Waste of money since it didn't work. Good luck getting a refund from China. Just got this 1 in the mail. Can't wait to get it mounted.

No way bro, this looks really good up close, especially on black trucks. The white one for the front also looks really cool. Adds a really nice aesthetic touch to the truck. 🔥

What wires do I splice into?

Exact opposite
Make sure you tape up all of those connections or you will be shorting out.

Is the led light just as bright as this one?
Wouldn't hurt to put some loom around the wiring, I can see it getting damaged very quick during winter time with salt, specially here in Canada
As nice as it looks, that price tag keeps me from buying it.

You could extend harness to fuse box and tap into power there
I actually ended up, just wiring it to my license plate light. Plenty of juice there and no issues.
Do you guys sell the quick splice connectors?
Is this the same wires to tap to on 2021 F150s?
Well that was nEATO, I wonder if I can do that to my 02 F-150. Although my smaller emblem is down on the left lower corner of my tailgate.
What could be a reason this stops working? I installed mine early 2021 and it just stopped working last wk and I can’t figure out why 😢
I am looking for a 9” LED emblem for my Ford Explorer 2019 (Front grill) with the red LED light please help…..

What lift do you have on that truck? Size tires? That is a great looking truck and I want to do that to my 2020 LTX!
Should show it off with after market taillights with drl.
Seems like since it’s so premium that I would be both a center tail light and also a brake light
Does the install drastically change if you have the OEM tailgate step built into the tailgate? Is the emblem covered/more difficult to get to?
lol I will let you know when I am finished. I was all excited to do this, until I read your post. Now, I am nervous.

216.99 - 188.99 = 28.00 which would still be more than I would be willing to pay for a single little led lightbulb.
Thank you

Way too expensive for a single little bulb.
