Peter Wright's interpretation of The Nutcracker has been enchanting children and adults alike since its first performance by The Royal Ballet in 1984. Lev Ivanov's 1892 ballet combined with Tchaikovsky's sumptuous, iconic score are presented in a festive period setting with vivid designs to make this a charming and magical production. Loosely based on the story by E.T.A. Hoffmann, the ballet begins in the 19th-century German home of the Stahlbaums, where they are hosting a lively Christmas party. The period setting is captured in opulent detail by Julia Trevelyan Oman's designs, which include authentic Christmas tree decorations that are magically brought to life. Wright's choreography ingeniously incorporates surviving fragments of the ballet's original material, including the sublime pas de deux for the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Prince. But in emphasizing the relationship between Clara and the Nutcracker, the production also gains a touching subtext of first love. - บันเทิง

I was a principal dancer in my tiny city's ballet company and this was one of my favorite productions to put on every year. I always loved dancing the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
I have seen this every year since before I can remember, I am in love with the Royal Ballet's production of the Nutcracker.

I played this for years in high school and college for ballet productions. Some of the greatest moments of my childhood. The music is so sincere and touching -- I think I cried the last time I played it in college because I knew I wouldn't play the full score ever again.
Saw the live recording today... Marianela is my favourite ballet dancer, and Marcelino is my fave male dancer... they were both amazing and I'm so glad I got to see them live!!
#ROHnutcracker I just arrived at home after watching this amazing production! Anna Rose was an inspiring Clara and took my friends and me completely with her into the story! Marcelino's legs muscles are insane. The children were so amazingly together and musically on point and clean in their steps. We could see their joy, excitement and passion to be on stage, sharing it with the professionals. And lastly, Nela was as amazing as always. 💕 No need to say more than: best dancer and incredible human being!! Strong, clean, and precise technique. Amazing acting skills, and her smile always makes me smile even more. How she bowed when Peter Wright entered the stage and what a nice gesture to acknowledge Anna when she received her own bouquets of flowers. Both women did an amazing job and worked their butt off to bring the joy of Christmas to the audience.

I saw the opening night on live broadcast. Love the dances! The Sugar Plum Fairy made the pas-de-deux look so effortless! Having seen the practices here on TH-cam, I realize how hard it is to dance. Beautiful!!

Nutcracker is the Xmas cash cow for ballet companies. Choral groups/symphony orchestras have their Messiah, & opera companies have Hansel & Gretel. More cash cows. $$ is needed for other productions at other times of the year.

i dont like how they say clara «falls in love» with the nutcracker... i mean, what is she? like 8 years old???
It's assumed she's around 11-14 if I'm not correct, and the Nutcracker is the same age.
I LOVE The Nutcracker, but if we're being honest wouldn't a Nativity scene technically be "more Christmas"? Lol
