Thanks for this review. It has been very helpful to know what to expect after years of usage. Most reviews will only comment on brand new mats and this was great to know what to expect over time.

Great video! I bought the mat and it’s fantastic! The markings have helped my practice tremendously. Also, the grip on it is beyond amazing. I have a back issue (surgery, rods, screws) and this is the only mat that has made it possible for me to feel confident that I won’t slip and really hurt myself. Love it!! Thanks again for the video. ❤️

Even if the rubber degrades in a landfill, which is highly questionable, it is still just a pile of rubber crumbs locked in a mountain of trash for the next 800 human lifetimes or so.
It also has a polyurethane coating on top.
Rubber plantations are mostly made on clearcut rainforest, so not exactly green either.
The company charges twice the price of any similar rubber mat, and should be recycling their old mats, not talking greenwashing BS about them degrading in a landfill. Cringe.
Yours looks good, but plenty of others say theirs wear out in 6 months to a year or three.
Just some info to counter a too-rosy view, for the critical shopper. ;)

    Hi Laura,
Thanks for great review. I am a newbie to yoga and am looking to upgrade my mat current $20 foam 7mm thick mat.
My concern about this mat is the cushioning support on hardwood floors.
I'm afraid to take the $$$ plunge and not be comfortable on the floor.
Although my current cheap thick mat slides around.. it still acts as a "welcoming" invitation to get down on the floor. If that makes sense 😁
Any advice from you or followers???

    • @LauraTryUK
      @LauraTryUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hey Ange, great question, and cool news you are going to upgrade (in the sense that you are practicing yoga regularly and delving in deeper)
I've had no issues with the Liforme on hard floors. When I was able to attend classes pre-COVID they were hosted in rooms with standard hard floors. My previous mat would hurt my ankles and hips when they dug into the floor in certain poses, but I've had no issues with this. It really is a delight to use.
It's 4mm thick (I think 🤔) but dense enough to absorb the pressure. Also great for headstands on a hard floor also.
If you purchase, I hope you enjoy it 🙏🏼

FYI - for around HALF the price, you can get a mat that's made from the same materials, has the same dimensions and thickness as the Liforme: The Plyopic Ultra Grip Pro Yoga Mat. And what's even better is Plyopic also do a Pro+ and a Lite version if you prefer a mat that's thicker or more portable 🙂

My yoga mat, the B Mat strong mat, cost around $100...I bought it like 5 years ago. I love it! It's cushiony, sticky, and just great! I will never go back to cheap yoga mats. The only downside is, when my hands sweat I do have slight loss of grip, but definitely way better grip than on a cheaper mar!
Now, I do not know if I'd want the alignment marks...but who knows, they may be helpful for me. I just position myself to what feels right in my body. I'm 5' 6" and my arms are short.
You make this mat sound awesome!

@@LauraTryUK I let you know when I get it I am getting the xl mountain in black and blue just saving for it but I know it will be a good investment the yoga I do I am dripping when I finish and like you said on your video the lines on the mat can be helpful :) so it was a no brainer, I think it will take a while to get New Zealand but I can’t wait lol

    Hey Laura! Question here.
First, thank you for your review!
Q: did you use the mat to practice at higher temperatures, like as in hot yoga ~100F (38C), during your 5 years of use? If so, how often on weekly basis?
I practice at high temperatures about 95% of the time and can go up to 5 sessions per week. Just trying to gauge how long my mat life expectancy will be (I know the website says that it's not designed for hot yoga). Hopefully I can get more than 1 year out of it 😅

I use mine in a heated room and it’s great.
