    Lived in Vancouver for decades, I went through all the gang war news. This connects a lot of blank zones. Great video, thank you.

    I was introduced to gang activity because I live in subsidized housing. These guys are total losers, most of them are total goofs.

      Seems that way, I was surprised how many groups have existed in that city.

    If you read The Wolfpack book and the texts between them you can tell Robby is a much smarter professional gangster especially compared to Nick Nero. His escape did not surprise me.

    Vancouver always had this sinister underbelly throughout the decades. Same crimes, different faces.

    I know you covered many Chinese gangs in part 2, but just curious if the Japanese Yakuza ever had any historical presence in the Lower Mainland?

    • @strangenorth
      @strangenorth  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's a great question - I haven't come across anything about their involvement in Vancouver but it wouldn't surprise me if they had some sort of involvement in that city over the years

      As someone who lived in Japan from 1986 to 2002 after having studied Japanese and Mandarin at university in Edmonton, I’d have to say that the yakuza don’t have a presence in Canada. I wrote an answer on Quora (searchable under my name) that received a surprising number of upvotes about the yakuza’s behaviour, including how they acted within their hierarchy at one of their offices when one senior member invited me to go to play golf with him/them while I was serving as a “Mormon” missionary (ages 21-23). I can’t rule out the possibility that they might do some business in Los Angeles and Honolulu, but I don’t know either way. They certainly wouldn’t be actually *situated* outside Japan even if they might (or may not) do any business in North America. I’ve been living in Richmond since 2003, where the Steveston neighbourhood has long been associated with Japanese in Canada (many being relocated and interned near Magrath, Alberta, during the war), and we certainly don’t see any presence of yakuza here or elsewhere in Metro Vancouver.

    Wow. I Went to highschool with Rabih Alkhalil. Had a brief altercation with him once in shop class... threatened to knock me out. In my humble opinion I think I could have taken him at the time due to my muscular build, but I walked away. I'm glad I did. Who knows what would have happened to me if he went home with a black eye or something.

    I watched poor government decision making and political correctness destroy Vancouver.
    I used to vote liberal but then I started checking their work
    Against everything I thought they actually turned out to be the problem.
    Meanwhile blaming anybody else that they could for their own Follies
