How to Photograph a Lifestyle and Branding Portrait Session

  • Aside from wedding photography, one of my other favorite genre of photography are lifestyle and branding photography for small to large business owners. I like to create more of a relaxed and lifestyle feel to my images and always curate/direct (posing, direction, aesthetics) the shoot so that it reflects the clients brand and business. In this video, I share with you some tips and tricks on how I create, curate, and produce branding and lifestyle images for all my business clients. If you stick around to the end, I also share the behind-the-scenes of one of my most recent branding and lifestyle sessions. To view the final products delivered to my client, click on the following link: hannahqphotography.pixieset.c...
    Download the 'Identify Your Clients Brand/Business' worksheet here: hannahquintana.com/education
    This should help you to create and curate the images of your client to reflect who they are as a business owner and what they offer.
    Here are the topics I cover:
    0:35: What is lifestyle branding photography?
    1:20: Tip #1: Do the research. Understand who your client is as a business and brand.
    2:03: Tip #2: Find the right location tailored to your clients brand
    2:24: Tip #3: Cover the baseline--take the professional headshots as well as lifestyle photos
    2:36: Tip #4: Incorporate their business, personality, brand into the photos
    2:56: Tip #5: How to frame the images
    3:47: Behind-the-scenes of a lifestyle and branding photography session
    Equipment I used for this photo session:
    Camera Body Canon 5D Mk IV : amzn.to/34bpwrb
    50mm F1.2L Prime lens: amzn.to/2RH9rqw
    100mm F2.8L Macro Lens: amzn.to/2E8L1OE
    24mm F1.4L Prime Lens: amzn.to/2Pb4lBt
    35mm F1.4L Prime Lens: amzn.to/2E8shPv

    This was so interesting and helpful. Subbed :) I would love a further video on this topic. After your client fills put your mini questionnaire linked in your bio, how you go about planning the shoot / props etc. I have such imposter syndrome and am afraid to go out of my comfort zone from normal couples shoots etc. This was genuinely so helpful and made me feel like I could do it.

    • @HannahQuintana
      @HannahQuintana  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I'm hoping to make more so that I can share more tips like this for budding photographers. And oh my gosh, tell me about that imposture syndrome. It's hard work and definitely pushes you out of your comfort zone. But with practice and repetition I promise it gets easier and better. So in this example, Paige is a fine art family photographer who specializes in film. Her work is clean, traditional, simple, elegant so it was important for me to find a clean white space to emphasize that aesthetic of hers. I also brought with me a mug, a photography coffee table book, and asked her to bring her film camera and laptop. It was important to capture the film camera because that is her specialty! Also the photography book just adds a lifestyle touch to the shoot to show off more of her personality. I hope this explanation helped a little! Thanks again for following along. Can't wait to share more with you :)

      @@HannahQuintana Awesome! I'm subscribed! It looks fun to be a photographer except I'd worry about them feeling nervous cause I get nervous and feel unnatural when people take photo of me posing. Much prefer candids. But that's part of the art is to help them feel relaxed and I bet the music and (so sorry this sounds sexist!!) maybe fact that you're female (as far as I know! But I'm trying to get better at not assuming gender!!) helped especially since you sometimes stood above and so close. Also random thought just remembering watching an underwater photo shoot at a swimming pool years ago in Austin, Texas!

    • @hannahq.photography2584
      @hannahq.photography2584 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flowersafeheart I'm so glad you found this helpful! I think one of the hardest pieces of photography is helping the subjects feel comfortable! it took me a few years to master this. I see what you're saying about it might be easier for females to relax the subjects. I hear you! Although I must say I've had some male photographers that made me feel amazing. I think the key is to provide as much guidance with confidence and honesty.

    • @HannahQuintana
      @HannahQuintana  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@abbyjoystudio Oh gosh there is so much I could say about your questions! But in a nutshell, here are my answers: The shortest session I offer is a 30-minute session for $400 depending on the season (how busy I am) and location (if it's more than 50 miles I ask for a minimum 1-hour session). Imposter syndrome is normal and I give myself pep talks very often. When I see that my work affects one person in a positive way, that's enough to push myself forward. I get dream clients by putting dream material out there through my social media. I manifest it and send it out in a way, shape, form I can. What I mean by that is sharing stories or posts that I know will pique my dream clients interests whether it be showcasing romance (weddings + engagement sessions), little joys of life (my kids, espresso, black coffee, luxury hotel stays, traveling, floral arrangements), and other lifestyle perspectives. Hope this helps!
