  • The serial killer nurse Lucy Letby will never be released from prison after a judge sentenced her to a rare whole-life term for the murder of seven babies.
    Subscribe to Guardian News on TH-cam ► bit.ly/guardian...
    Letby, 33, is only the third woman alive to be given the jail term in the UK. She was sentenced at Manchester crown court on Monday. The former neonatal nurse, the worst child serial killer in modern British history, was also convicted of attempting to murder six more babies at the Countess of Chester hospital.

    A senior consultant suspected what she was doing. He was then made, by the hospital board, to apologise to her. She then killed again. Now that the truth is out, those board members should also be jailed.

      I am not looking to be hostile my friend but the elephant in the room which we need to address if we are to make a start down the road of understanding this kind of evil is to face the fact that she actually ISN'T the face of evil: even on her prison mug-shot she did not look different in kind or demeanour to the girls who lined up for England in the World cup final yesterday morning. Once we come to recognise and acknowledge that evil is as mundane as anything else in life and is as readily packaged in the form of the girl next door as a face like The Joker, we will be better able to identify it and less susceptible to its manifestations in society and assaults on human sensibilities.

The key here is that Ms Letby stood up to the consultants who were pointing the finger at her, when they themselves played a huge part in the mess that was CoCH neonatal unit in 2015/16. It has all the hallmarks of a dreadful miscarriage of justice, inflicting pain not only on Lucy Letby but also on the parents of the babies who were led to believe their children were murdered. I was rotated at a medium-security facility during my psychiatry rotation in medical school, and some of the patient prisoners I saw included murderers and paedophiles. Some were deemed to not have had capacity at the time of their crime. Some were deemed to have capacity. The reason they were in the psychiatric facility was for ongoing psychiatric treatment while they served their sentence. But one and all were serving a sentence. A deranged serial killer covers up a whole lot of stink which was about to break over that hospital. The kind of stink which would have rocked public confidence in not just the hospital but the entire NHS. My guess is this girl walks on appeal in ten or twenty years when we discover evidence was suppressed.

    • @mydogeatspuke
      @mydogeatspuke ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really hope she does appeal. It's absurd that they've managed to send her away with no actual evidence that she was to blame. The whole case hinged on "if not her, then who?" And instead of trying to answer the question, they just shrugged and decided it must have been her. Taking paperwork home and looking people up online isn't illegal, nor is it evidence that someone is a criminal, and the only other thing they had on her was that she turned up for work.
