Together they successfully made her the scapegoat for the babies deaths. They should all stand trial.
The fact that 6 days before she was due to be back on the ward, the police became involved means that there was a desperate rush from the doctors, who were essentially putting their careers on the line, to stop her before another baby was murdered. It's a reminder that there are plenty of good people left in the NHS and in the world generally. Heroes

You can see that Dr Ravi Jayaram is a deeply empathetic, intelligent, and proactive doctor - everything a doctor/healthcare worker should be. It's astonishing that the board seemed to have gone out of their way to take the side of a nurse when multiple highly experienced consultants had raised very serious concerns. I hope everyone involved can heal from this.
Did this wonderful, caring doctor ever GET AN APOLOGY to his face, as Lucy was deemed privileged enough to get? He deserved a thousand apologies to his face. And a bonus. I doubt he received either.
He probably won't. If anyone does apologise that is basically admitting they where responsible (which they are). And none of them seem to be willing to do so. Personally, I believe all the management should be held accountable. Either charge them (if they can), or at least fire them. Not a single one of them should be anywhere near Hospital management again in their lives.
Interestingly a year on we know this "person" was lying through his back teeth. What he stated during Lucy Letby's grievance procedure against him was that he had no reason to believe she had done anything wrong and he only wanted her to have time away from the ward because she had had some very traumatic experiences. In court he said that he had seen Lucy Letby virtually in the act of harming a baby and this was burned into his memory. Both statements cannot be true since both were made after the event he claimed to witness. People should also be aware that there were over 100 malpractice suits underway but they were discontinued once a "murderer" had been found.
Over 100?! Jeepers! I do think something was certainly etched into his memory but certainly not as he has described it and anything in his nightmares will be from a guilty conscience.

He noticed that the baby's condition was rapidly deteriorating and that the vital breathing tube had been dislodged. According to the prosecution, door-swipe data proved that the nurse designated to care for the baby had left the unit at 3.47am. However, after the data was amended for the retrial, it showed the nurse had returned within moments. This meant that Letby was not alone at the time the prosecution originally argued she was.
Dr Jayaram is just so genuine. You can see pain is etched all over his face. May the parents of those defenceless little babies somehow find peace and my utter respect to the Dr.

The hospital management is just as responsible as the killer nurse, as they let it happen, dismissing the repeated concerns raised. It is professional negligence and they must taken to the court.
Excerpt from daily telegraph online 14.09.2014 Dr Jayaram said the “only concern raised about Lucy was she had been exposed to so many deaths” and there was a feeling that “it might be traumatic for her”. When asked if he heard any suggestion that Lucy had been deliberately harming babies, Dr Jayaram said there was “no objective evidence to suggest that at all”. He added: “The only association was Lucy’s presence on the unit at the time. Anything else is speculation.”
As an NHS doctor, I can say that nurses and doctors (and other healthcare staff, honestly) are not taken seriously when whistle blowing or raising concerns. Like, EVER. I wonder why the former Chief Executive and Medical Director would side with Lucie Letby, ignore complaints from this Consultant, blindly defend Lucie, then say he is a bully and he should apologise to Lucie? This question is rhetorical. We all know what was at play here! The Chief Executive and Medical Director should never get jobs in the NHS again! They are also to blame for the deaths and harm to 17 defenseless babies - so much for the protecting the Trust's reputation.
It's sadly part of a culture that permeates so many professions and institutions. Just look at the state of the metropolitan police. The first instinct of these people is to put the organisation's reputation above anything else.
I'm not surprised managers ignored these glaring concerns by experienced doctors. Nhs management is riddled with toxic anti doctor culture and any form of whistleblowing is severely punished. Dr Chris Day for example is still being dragged through the court for flagging up major safety concerns at his department. It's sickening.
Parents and families may consider helping to save more babies through having a collective public demand or pressure for the case to be thoroughly investigated including a mental health check as well as back ground check to childhood level of the nurse.
I honestly can't believe how useless this management were. Well done to this doctor and his colleagues for fulfilling their safeguarding duties and doing something. @@MS-Patriot2agreed. Suing the hospital is just taking money out of the NHS that could be used for say training, to spot any potentially problematic staff or invest in the CCTV cameras Dr Jayaram suggested be placed in the NICU.

UPDATE:
About this supposed incident taken from the mail online on22.08.2024:
The prosecution had argued that consultant Dr Ravi Jayaram had found Letby standing over Baby K's crib on February 17, 2016 at around 3.50am.
This poor man! He must have felt a lot of uncertainty about his own ability as a doctor seeing these babies die. Thank you for putting your job on the line to bring her to justice

@@therevolutioniscoming1569 - actually if you read the timelines, after being made to apologise, he did continue his private investigation along with the other concerned consultants. You have to remember that there was no definite evidence at that time so there will have been a lot of uncertainty and what the executives were saying wasn't without merit i.e. all that the doctors had at that time was circumstantial so it's understandable that they didn't go all out, guns blazing.

Dr Jayaram said the “only concern raised about Lucy was she had been exposed to so many deaths” and there was a feeling that “it might be traumatic for her”.
When asked if he heard any suggestion that Lucy had been deliberately harming babies, Dr Jayaram said there was “no objective evidence to suggest that at all”.
He added: “The only association was Lucy’s presence on the unit at the time. Anything else is speculation.”
