@@YesTheory you should definitely come again and explore more of the country, such as my home city of Plovdiv, which is possibly the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe. Definitely explore more of the coast and go to Burgas and Varna, possibly go to one of the weirdest communist landmarks - the Buzludzha monument, which looks like a flying saucer... the list of interesting places can be quite long :) 🇧🇬

I am Greek, and my family immigrated to Bulgaria in the 1970s, fleeing from home to escape unfair persecution. Ever since, Bulgaria has welcomed us and given us a second chance in life. Here, my family flourished despite the hardships of the 1990s and early 2000s. Nowadays, this place seems to be a haven for young people, low unemployment and cheap prices. I have an international job that allows me to travel a lot, but thankfully, I always return home to Bulgaria. The people here are the nicest and most helpful I have ever met. I hope you will soon visit and explore what this diverse place has to offer. You’d be impressed!
Thank you, Yes Theory, for finally showing a glimpse of this piece of heaven and, of course, for introducing us to Gergana! She is a gem!

My better half is Bulgarian and very good friends with Geri. They had a trip to Rome earlier this year with a gang of Bulgarians and loved it. Bulgarians don't have a lot, but they are intelligent, clever, very practical and know how to make the most of what they have.

I had a friend in college who was from Bulgaria. He loved the fact that he came from there and really enjoyed the Bulgarian way of life. He said his favorite things were swimming in the Black Sea in the morning. He also said the fruits from there were way better than the fruits he had in the US. However, he also realized that there weren't many opportunities in the country either, and he had plenty of opinions about the state of the government. He told me his dream was to eventually buy some land near the Black Sea, plant some fruit trees and some vegetables, and live the good life. I hope he gets that, someday.

Bulgaria has lots of opportunities. The government has nothing to do with your chances of success. I am from Bulgaria, have a good education, good profession and a good life. I don't neccassarily fully agree with this. I think there's a bit of nihilism driving this.
Some of us Bulgarians left because we - and our parents, friends, everyone - believed that there's nothing for us here. Since I returned, I've discovered that this is not entirely true, and in many ways, our negativism about the future of Bulgaria has tricked us. We might get lower salaries, yet the costs associated with taxes, housing, childcare, and utilities are drastically lower, while salaries in Sofia are approaching the levels of Central and even Western Europe.
That's not to say that we don't have major issues or that many people don't leave because they *know* their lives will be better. I think it depends on a person's circumstances, and as people, we should not fall to nihilism but rather be more objective about the strengths and weaknesses (and issues in particular) of Bulgaria.

I moved from the UK to Bulgaria for a year and i personally loved it. Stunning country, beautiful people, and lovely culture. Its a place you can just keep exploring, but i was fortunate because i was working a remotely at the time and i had a decent income for the country.
Economic opportunities are far and few and particularly for people living outside the main cities. The saddest thing i found was how elderly people were being cheated of their pensions. Their pensions are so low they can barely afford anything, but there is a culture of growing your own produce. I will say this, the way the public helped and treated elderly people also gave me a lot of hope in humanity. Bulgarians are very respectful people.

Who is cheating the elderly Bulgarians of their pensions? It would be a good thing if the public could work to stop the mistreatment of the elders and help them avoid criminals who are stealing their pensions and quality of life. You are very correct about Pensions. My grandma is being cheated because her whole life she pays bills specific for pensions and then she still has no pension at almost the age of 70 and when she gets pension it would be something super low, lower than her current job, that's why she is still working, and she is working at manufacturer, every day she has her vision being blinded by the machines which she welds metals, has to assemble parts and other stuff and this work doesn't pay a lot at all but its one of the hardest jobs and the worst part is her pension will pay lower than her job so at that age she is still working the hardest job, with still no pension.

I did more or less the same. I travelled across almost all countries in Europe and N.America, most of the time hitch hiking and just sitting on benches observing the life of the locals, and when I was on the verge of going to Asia or S.America or Africa, I was like... "Nah, I'm good..." and I came back. Best decision to leave and best decision to return so I can appreciate Bulgaria the way my grandparents, greatgrandparent and parent do and die giving my best to the people in the country I was given birth in. The biggest impact for me was South Spain where I saw how the majority of locals, instead of becoming economical imigrants, chose to have less but be chill around their family. And weirdly enough... Less money doesn't mean lesser feeling or experience. I am so inspired that for 5 years I haven't even left my hometown. I work 24/7 renovating my relative's and friend's apartments, and giving all my energy for the people around me. Hurry up in returning we need more people to chill with while working! Life is so easy when you're home away from the jungle of soul seeking imigrants accross the tourist areas. ;D

As a kid growing up in Bulgaria, I didn't see or understand the problems that had taken its toll on Bulgaria and on the Bulgarian people...
My mother usually tried her best to take care of us, while my father was working and helping us from Denmark...
It's now when I live in Denmark (that I also had moved from my home country)
that I began wondering and seeing some of the problems that this country and not only Bulgaria, but many countries on our planet, have been 'plagued' by.
But despite the circumstances my life had seen, when I was young, I was very fortunate to have, as a child, experienced some of the true beauty that this country beholds.
Something I was fortunate enough to mostly have held within me.
That is why I believe that despite being affected by the negative side of society, love shall always be the key to unlocking the door to true happiness...
Even if it is sometimes hard to follow the path of love and respect.
Thank you for the video Yes Theory 🇧🇬

@@jamieguthrie1760 funny enough, I had also moved to Denmark from Bulgaria when I was 19, and some of the things that stand out to me are better health care, cleaner and more organized cities, less crime, less stress due to higher income.. but at the same time I've been considering if I should move back to Bulgaria or another warmer country, as Denmark for 4-5 months of the year is very rainy, with thick clouds and has nowhere near the beautiful nature that we have in Bulgaria. As a foreigner in Denmark, also the social connections have been quite harder to make compared to being in your home country with good friends and family.

Coming to live here with salary coming from Western country ok, or if you are in the IT sector will be good for living and it the 4 big cities. Living in some small village far away from those big cities and depending on a job there, no chance of survive or only survivor day for day.. But when you see the shity administration, stupid police officers that don't know English and can guide you or when they are ignorant about your stolen items or you being raped or something like that you will start to dislike it very quickly. And about the medicare if you have paid medical insurance from your company you will be ok but if you decide to trust the "free" medical care from the government, oo la la, your movie just begins and it's genre is going to be HORROR. Yes on video and coming to be here for some time with good health is ok, but if I have the chance of escape from here I will do it. Follow or P.M. for more tips.

Right before the video started with all that pictures I already knew it was Bulgaria , Bulgarian here btw (living abroad) been following you for sure more than 7 years so far even if in mo longer that consistent .. since people didn’t say it openly in your video , well burglaria is really beautiful and safe place the people , traditions , cultures , nature and how we do our parties are as well , but sadly if you work there most of the times you get less than the half of what you would get in another country for the same tipe of work so sure if you work abroad or come after retirement everything looks cheap but if you worked there you would actually see the struggles , also it’s wildly known for it to be corrupted , the loans our country still sometimes takes from eu which may not repay in the next 2 generations , and our government , there may be other motives for locals to leave those are the ones that come in my mind right away.
But trust me we aren’t leaving because we don’t like Bulgaria , we are leaving out of necessity , and I can assure you every Bulgarian abroad dreams one day to go back to Bulgaria again, when the conditions would be better. And see all the relatives and friends they left. Because there is no other place where we can feel more free and at home than in Bulgaria. Trust me there are a lot of people like gergana , we sometimes look a bit stubborn and expect hidden motives for any good action , but overall it’s on our culture to be really friendly , respectful and well managed (obviously there are exceptions but it’s a minority)

Also sobbing a little because I missed when you were here, but I hope there will be a next time :) ❤ much love from Sofia 🫶🏻

I am Bulgarian, and watching your video I felt very kind feelings, even though you showed a small part of my country. Thank you! I look forward to the sequel!

Hello guys! I'm Bulgarian, and I've been following your channel for years. Thank you for always being open to seeing the best in every place and for breaking negative stereotypes. I believe this mindset is what leads you to meet people like Gergana and is the reason you have the best community of followers and friends. Seriously, thank you for the amazing effort you put into providing us with such great content!

    🤗 Another Bulgarian here.
Hi guys! Thank you for showing my country in such a positive light! Great content as always! I am glad you met friendly people here that made you feel welcome in our not so small and very beautiful country.
Last summer in Paris with my partner we ran into Thomas in front of the Eiffel tower and we were so glad to meet you in person. It was such a nice coincidence that made our day so exciting! I have never imagined you visiting my country and walking just a few steps from my house 😀
Again, thank you for making this video and showing Bulgaria from your perspective. 🩵

We visited Bulgaria last month and did an epic road trip and we had a fantastic time. The people are so friendly, the food is amazing, it is profoundly beautiful and rich in history - we are definitely going back ❤🎉😊

I am a foreigner living in Bulgarai, but Bulgaria aint cheap. Bulgaria is cheap when you brings dollars or whatever. Local wages are low. But Bulgaria has a charm, its relaxed, lots of nature, low expectations, good weather. I love it here
