They fielded a strong side that featured captain Ian Chappell, Rod Marsh, Gary Gilmour, Max Walker and the fearsome Jeff Thomson. Thommo, apparently after being told by the local batsmen, "You're not really as fast as we thought", marked out his full run and immediately took a hat trick.
For the 1977 season I played for the UBC Cricket team and played several games at Brockton Oval. My recollection is NOT interference from the Geese, but visitors to the park unfamiliar with the game who would wander into the palaying area to cross the park !! One of the best grounds I have had the pleasure to play in the world; although I have had occasion to play on many beautiful grounds in Zambia, Austria, England and Calgary
