No helmet, uncovered pitches, prime years cut out of his career due to war, small bats, longer boundaries and body line. Amazing he still averaged 99.94
I've read a Couple of Biography's about Don Bradman , From what I've read he wasn't the most graceful of Batsman to watch , But he had an eye like a Dead Fish , And would hit just about every ball were he wanted to , As I can see from the footage his shots aren't exactly from the David Gower or Greg Chappell Batting Academy , Having said that I would love to have seen him play , Anyone who Averages 100 on uncovered wickets , Must have been Pretty Good.
Don bradman the greatest cricket of all time tnx bro for making this documentary about the greatest cricketer i just love your contents about cricket ❤
Statistically one of the greatest sportsperson’s of all time (any sport). Standard deviations ahead on the next best cricket batsman ever. Imagine a baseball player who played 20+ years and had a batting average twice as good as anyone who ever played the game.
Friendly home umpires and playing a lot of tests in home country. Back then some umpires were afraid to give a "great" batsman out. Bradman never faced Murali, Warne, Ambrose, Holding, Anderson, Marshall, Wasim, Waqar, Vaas, etc, etc. Bradman wouldn't last long against those bowlers, and with neutral umpires and DRS, even worse.
How MI and Csk became the most dominant franchise in ipl and how Perth scorchers and Sydney sixers bece most dominant in BBL please do a case study ❤❤🧡
Just to add a little more... *** Sir Don Bradman was twice as good as the next athlete in his generation. Never has this been achieved by any other sports person, especially Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan. In fact, today, his record is still 50% more than the leading players on average runs scored.
Viv Richards remains ultimately the best batsman in history, standard of cricket was at its highest in 70s and 80s, Bradman would have struggled big time against fast bowling attack
I don't agree. That has to be Sir Garfield Sobers for me, who was not only a wondeful stroke making batsman but a versatile and dangerous bowler. Greatest batsman? Certainly of his day, by some way. But given that the bowlers then were mostly medium to medium fast, one wonders how he'd have coped with Holding, Donald, Lee or any of the other really express bowlers. In the same way that Jesse Owens was dominant in his day, so was Bradman. But Jesse Owens would not have been able to beat the likes of Usain Bolt. In the same way, is Bradman really better than Tendulkar, Root, Smith, Williamson and the like? I don't think such comparisons are fair or valid. Let's just say that, during his career, he was incomparable.
Regardless of generation, opposition, pitches....to average 99.94 is just mind boggling. Even more so that he didn't have alot of not outs to boost his average. 29 centuries in 52 Tests, I don't know we will see these ñumbers again. I have high hopes for Jaiswal, there's something special about him.
I think the 90s era was one era (with Lara and Tendulkar in batting and warne, murali and wasim akram for bowling) which could take on any generation whether Bradman era or modern era. Bradman harldy had any real opposition while the fab 4 and Bumrah, boult etc. are good but but they are kindo of like (my apologies) by IPL and modern batting friendly stuff.
The England side from the late 20s to late 30s was extremely high quality. After WW2 England was weaker, but Bradman was nearly 40. Please at least do some research about his era.

In the mid-70s when Lillee and Thomson were at their peak, a journalist asked Bradman how he would fare against them. He replied that he thought he wouldn't average much more than 50. The journalist asked him what he put that down to. He replied: "Well, I'm in my 60s now".
Another part to how successful he was was how he would keep it on the ground. It was no accident that it took so long for him to hit a six at Test level. He just wouldn't take that added risk for a couple extra runs, and why should he when he can place the ball through the gap to boundary with such relative ease. I remember hearing about a statistical analysis done of the greats in their respective sports, like Gretsky and Jordan and so on. They found that Bradman was notably much better than his opponents to the point where he was a couple of standard deviations above what the others could manage in their respective sports.
@@darrenjpeters I was about to say the same thing, and people argue that Bradman wouldn't be able to compete in today's test arena. I call rubbish, give him modern equipment and protective gear and he'd smash the opposition. I know this can't be done, but we can give the modern player 1930's equipment and see how they fair.

For those who don't know a mistake was found on one of the Don's scorecards and a scorer missed a boundary off his total for that game. Otherwise he would of averaged 100 but it was decided, don't know by who? But the decision was it would make it difficult to change all the record books.

The Don was statistically the best of all time and not just cricket. There is no other sportsperson that comes close to his domination. He is more than 50% better than the rest. The closest is actually a woman - Denise Annetts (81.9) but she doesn't qualify because she didn't score enough runs (819) due to limited opportunities in the women's game.
