i know its a film, but that was a 18 year old actress kissing a 13 year old child actor for real in 2006 when the filming took place. I grew up in 70s and 80s UK and love This Is England, but that scene never sat right with me., and i find the whole scenario of an older female initiating any type of sexual contact, (no matter how mild) with a little boy and talking about kissing and having him sucking her tits, really idisturbing. Considering that the age of consent for sexual contact in the UK is 16, I dont know how the film makers allowed that scene to take place between an adult female and a little boy, with all the overtly sexual language and action. Isnt that illegal? Also, just as an aside to the storyline, i just dont undrstand how Shaun's mum is ok with her son seeing Smell. Im a mum of 3 sons, the youngest of whom is 16, and there is no way in helll i would stand for an older girl dating him when he was 13! Nor would i allow him to act in a film where he has to engage in that kind of scene as an actor. THats the one part that i cant stomach because its a disturbing scene taking place between a adult and a minor. And instead of the storyline condemning such behaviour, (like it did the racism etc) unfortubately, it just normalized and made no hint of disapproval towards the overt grooming and sexualization of a little boy by an adult. I know these things happen in real life and the writers were trying to be realistic and raw in including such content, but racial violence also happens in real life, which is rightly shown to be abhorrent, and condemned. Unfortunately the writers failed to also condemn the early sexualisation of minors and even faciliated an awful scene between a child an adult, which i am sure would be illegal and considered grooming in another place outside oof a film studio.
