- The CIS droid army has a ton of scary vehicles and ships, but the NR-N99 Persuader-class Snail Tank was feared by the population of the Outer Rim for its ability to smash through entire neighborhoods. The Snail Tank may sound funny and look cute, but it was feared more then the OG-9 Homing Spider and Hailfire droid. Animatic shows how there could be 4 droids inside. This wasn't chosen for the film so I still wouldn't say it proves it for sure but this is what it would look like. The canon book encyclopedia of starfighters and other vehicles says "Though the tank droid is designed to function without a driver, it can also be controlled by pilot battle droid. This is the case during the Battle of Kashyyyk." That could still mean piloted remotely via a core ship like I was saying in the vid. Do you guys hope to see/think it is physically piloted by droids inside, or remotely when not just running on its own AI?
I don't think it would make sense to have it controllable by a physically present battle droid; they would have to put in a control seat if this were the case, which would be difficult on a tank of this size and would severely restrict the vehicle in many ways (mobility, ammo capacity, and structural integrity to name a few). I think most likely, and fitting with the CIS's vehicle lineup, the snail tank was autonomous with remote assistance possible.
Jeez, tax collectors are strict in Star Wars. I can only imagine in real life somebody not paying their debt and the next day they open their door to see a Abrams tank just aimed at you.

Is it me, or is it that the less chatty the CIS droid is, the better it does its job? As emissions of "roger roger" go down, there seems to be a corresponding increase in efficiency.

Every droid should be rank by how many times they chat while on duty.
It's stated that being "chatty" is a sign that the droid is on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Battle droids more like not battle droids
The central track on the Snail Tank just screams "shoot here to immobilise me".
Logs and stones work too
Also no turret, high profile and low positioned weapons screams "please don't fight me in any kind of terrain feature"
It kinda looks like you don't even need to waste explosives on that thing. Justp push it over while the driver is still trying to figure out how the hell to steer a tank that is running on one track.

I've always liked the CIS vehicles, the snail tank is also pretty cool (kinda annoying to use in bf2 classic tho)

Annoying to use? You wouldn’t wanna take me on in a Snail Tank duel, then. I’m a boss with those things. My favorite method of attack is actually simply boosting into people and running them down. Ridiculously effective against isolated targets on foot, and it has the happy side effect of making my tank a difficult target, as Snail Tanks can reach pretty impressive speeds once they get going. In most cases the target is flattened, and I’m already on the other side of the beach on Kashyyyk before anyone can react. Perhaps my favorite vehicle in that game. I only wish it was on more maps.
@@Armaldo468 Honestly I'd have to agree, never had problems using the snail tank, what it lacks in lateral mobility compared to the TX-130 it more than makes up for on the charge, especially with it's two giant shotguns. The way I see it the TX-130 is much better for peeking around corners and dodging stuff while sniping at range, while the snail is better at just charging in, a balance decision that really makes sense in the context of CIS tactics, I can see why they went with the loadout that it ended up having in bf2, instead of the one we see on Kashyyk in RotS. Because it's a game designd largely around multiplayer, and the mechanics of the game, mainly the reinforcement system means straight up quantity over quality suicide tactics aren't viable, they had to balance the vehicle in a way where it would fit the CIS lore while still being a viable vehicle in the game, and I think they struck a really good balance with it.
I think the Snail Tank made the Hailfire obsolete later on in the war, as it can attach missile launchers. This might explain why there are no Hailfires in ROTS

Actually, the tank was designed to get drive by droids. There is a deletet seen from episode 3 where some wookies get in one of those tanks and kill them inside
They could also have voice modulators installed, allowing the tank to scream obscenities as it bulldozed your house.

Big fan of your stuff. As a tid-bit, the snail tank had no trouble firing into civilians, but the dwarf spider droids and homing spider droids actively tried to avoid civilians.
This is the only video I’ve seen The Nebula Front mentioned. Those dudes were fascinating in Cloak of Deception.

This is one of my favorite vehicles In Star Wars. I hope they become playable in Battlefront 2. The model is already in the game, all the devs need to do is add animations and abilities.

I like how a lot of Separatist droid vehicles were basically used to intimidate; while perfectly capable of being used in war, they weren't optimal. For instance most of them have all weapons facing forward, which is great if you're trying to suppress large, disorganized mobs, but less effective against a professional military force.

What I find interesting about the snail tanks is, that if you watch the deleted version of the battle of kashyyyk, the snail was piloted by 3 B1 droids

In the extended deleted battle of kashyyk, it was seen to have house at least 4 battle droids inside when one of the Wookies sabotaged it.

I always love the battle of Kashyyyk but it was too short imagine while the snail tanks charges forward and the dwarf spider droids some crab droids rose from the water and then the crab droids will surprisingly smash clone troopers

That oom droid supposedly inside of the tank had red markings not blue which meant it was a security droid not a driver droid

The biggest problem I have with the snail tank is the severe lack of armor and an extreme exposure of the track assembly.

But from Hell.

I'd imagine that those investors would bring in a ton of scary vehicles and ships, like the *NR-N99 Persuader-class Snail Tank* , *the IG-227 Hailfire-class droid* , and the *OG-9 Homing Spider Droid*

Was playing classic Battlefront II earlier on Xbox since it's free on gold this month. I had forgotten how fun these things were to use on Kashyyyk... a shame neither these or the Hailfires are playable in the new game

How and why would a droid have to ride in another droid? I don't think there was a place for a droid to sit inside the Snail Tank Droid, even though that's what we do in Star Wars: Battlefront II Classic for some reason, even as clones.
