I Did The Longest Possible Race on Gran Turismo...

- I've been a long time fan of torturous endurance events and so it was in my mind for a long time to do the most gruelling race on Gran Turismo: 200 laps of the 15.77 mile Nurburgring Nordschleife. A challenge that would take more than a day to complete and I would attempt to do it without sleeping and without another driver to help me.
This was all done in order to raise money for the Philippines School Project which in the end we raised £25,500 for! This will go a very long way to helping school children in the Philippines so thank you if you donated.

Interesting fact:
If you did the 69,420 lap race around the Nordschleife, and had an average lap time of 8min 30secs, it would take 9,834.5 hours
Or in other words, if you started at midnight on January 1st 2022, you would finish on February 14th 2023 at around 16:40pm
wow
Credjt for the effort
so shaving 10 seconds off of the av lap time would save you 694200 seconds in total, so saving you 8 days. still pretty small in the grand scheme of things but that would be a 2% decrease overall

After watching your video I was going to attempt on doing the 200 laps challenge as well, so I thought might as well I'll do a 20 laps warm up and see how things actually goes. And boy this is already scary, I had a average lap time of 8:20:xxx and it took me about 2 hours and 50 minutes to complete the 20 laps. I was doing well until the 7th lap, the concept of "concentration" wasn't a thing in my head anymore it's long gone(funny thing was the time of doing 6 laps was around 45 minutes which is actually around a stint)I had to take a 50 minutes break in order to finish the rest of the 13 laps, not able to do a double stint yet. Your action here reminds me of what I did in GT1 back in 2003 during high school holidays, which were 300km for Grand Valley and 500km for Clubman endurance, in car view(felt like bumper cam though), manual transmission, dual shock controller, left joystick to steer, right joystick for throttle and brake (in right-left config instead of up-down, & this was essential to apply mid-band feed in corners to preserve tire wear), R1 upshift and R2 downshift, and to made it realistic, doing Grand Valley by day and Clubman by night, and only pausing during pit-in for tire change. Aaah, those were the days...
Well, that’s impressive, but now you have to do the 69420 laps...
...I’ve done the maths, based of the pace of this race, should take you approximately 400 days non-stop driving. Have fun!
