Should be noted that Lucas Arts had Factor 5 (of Rogue Squadron fame) develop this port. I'm sure we can all agree that had a lot to do with how well this was tailored to the N64.

If you had a Blockbuster in town like I did, alot of these types of games were easy to get, even if it was still an era where games of all generations were still nearly universally affordable, sans the truly obscure/low print run stuff. I picked up this game, Stunt Racer 64, CF Sculpters Cut, Snowboard Kids 2, and Bomberman 2nd Attack all for $12 or less all with at least instructions, and the first 3 appeared rather plentiful/unwanted when I was collecting them like this between 99-01(Doesn't apply to Snowboard Kids 2 or Bomberman)... Even picked up a shit ton of nowadays expensive as fuck Dreamcast games for cheap as well, I just wish I was doing this when places were getting rid of Saturn games instead of sitting on my console after I ordered it, stupidly figuring after the just absolutely abysmal performance it had in the US that there would never be some huge demand for them like when I picked up my entire 32x collection in the early 2000s for under $100, which included the entire library minus SpiderMan, but including DarXide, and even 2 brand new 32x systems that were $16 a piece.... Sigh, so many of us missed the boat with that lul in prices during 2000-2005ish...

How do the graphics compare? All the gameplay I saw of the PC version didn't look significantly better, but I wasn't sure if it was just the videos and the settings the game was on.
pc version also has 32-bit color depth, where as the nintento 64 has 16-bit color depth. also because pc has a higher resolution you don't really get those jagged lines
Man I love when a port is actually done well. It's really interesting to see a PC > console port that's actually well done during a period when these were the bad ports. Nowadays it's the other way around, which kinda sucks for us on the PC platform, but hopefully we'll get a few more cases like this some day. The most recent example I can think of for a great port was Terraria's journey to consoles. The port was so well done, the PC devs actually implemented features from the console version back into the PC one later.
I agree with most of this. I almost beat it and I would say it's definitely a gorgeous game with good environments, and great voice acting which was very rare on the 64 to have VA at all. The buggy mechanics can be very frustrating at times but the game is loads more enjoyable if you use a guide. I would certainly recommend this lengthy adventure game for N64 fans!
For the smaller jumps... Just press your key assigned to "roll" function. Indy will leap forward and roll. This is also the most assuring way to complete the stepping stones in the volcanic lava lake level. :)

The voice of Indy and Sofia Hapgood there were both not new, Indy is done by Hal Barwood who had led many projects as Lucasarts there including past Indy titles, and also was the voice of Indy for their most popular of the franchise Fate of Atlantis. It is a known, natural, and liked voice if you come from the PC gaming world. Complaining about that just seems utterly wrong if people really are whining about that. It's a great game with great bugs and a shame it was only retailed by Lucasarts and later blockbuster once they were done renting out what Lucasarts didnt sell online, mail, or call in so it's kind of misleading calling it exclusive.
The next Indiana Jones game they should make is have Indy fight against the Italian Fascist army or the Imperial Japanese. It would still take place during WWII, but it would introduce Jones to the other Axis forces that the Indiana Jones franchise has never done before. It's always been either the Nazis, the Soviets or the bad guys from India from the Temple of Doom movie. (Sorry, can't actually remember who they were) The introduction to the Italians and Japanese army in a Indiana Jones game would also open up new ideas for the franchise to make new games in the future and not overuse the same bad guys over and over again.

I would like to see a remastered port or remake of this, clean up the bugs and mechanics and maybe even make more accessible puzzles, challenging but doable. Hard4Games and friends, 16 years ago I have an Indian jones of n64 rusty and scratched. Despite being the king of programming errors, I liked it so much for its graphics, the originality of the puzzles and the huge length, that I decided to buy it a year ago and I was surprised to find it new! My question is this, seeing the recent appearance of pirate cartridges (reproductions) will not be one of them? Do you know how to identify between pirates and originals? Without disassembling it, the only thing I noticed differently is the back cover that is gray, but a gray slightly less dark than an original cartridge ... Would Hard4games and friends give me their opinion about it? Thank you!

I can't finish this game because of a game breaking glitch during the Russian Boat level. You need to use a machine part to levitate to the second level of the boat & then the game freezes. I've done everything and I can't play anymore.

Factor 5 was a major contributor to this game and it shows. They did some amazing work back then.

They did use the anti aliasing, but it ran in a 480i mode where the AA is less smudgy.

The graphics are little higher in terms of texture resolution but overall they are identical to the N64 version.
in my opinion the graphics are way better. i guess you have to see for yourself.
you should also turn the graphics up all the way.

If you hold down the Z button while jumping forward you can do a little jump. Works perfectly for that jump you were having troubles with.

Judging by the looks of this game, the N64 would have handled Tomb Raider well. Maybe somewhere in between the Saturn and Ps1 version.
I regret trading this for cruising usa back a few years ago, fuck.
Looking at the footage, either you had it on a low difficulty setting or bad luck with the ai. Since in the PC version, it runs just fine.
Might be a difference between the 64 and PC then. Difficulty setting was on normal. Or maybe just bad luck...who knows! :)
