  • In this video I embark on my first ever solo winter camp. I spend 2 days and 3 nights in my newly acquired SnowTrekker 8x8 solo tent, with a wood burning stove. You are the first person I've seen actually cover most of the floor. I love it..so cozy looking.

      Hi Amy, Yes I definitely prefer to have the floor covered like that. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    another great video. i do like the tent. my old canvas tent has seen a better day and i was researching Snowtrekker when i found your channel. i was also looking at Seek Outside and Kifaru tents. Kni-co is a great stove and it will last you a long time. thanks for posting this series of videos....martin...

      Wyo PoBo thanks again Martin, Snowtrekker make the best canvas tents in my opinion. Amazing tents, and Duane and Margot are fantastic to deal with. Tried and tested in the field by many serious outdoors men and women.

      I've been looking at the Snowtrekker for a couple of years now. i'm trying to cut down on weight so a 20lb Snowtrekker and maybe a Seek Outside Titanium stove will help with the weight. all my stuff is in the high country so wind is a definite consideration. my old canvas tent did ok so i think a Snowtrekker will take the punishment also. Patrick Smith at Kifaru has spent his life in the high country of Colorado so i trust his tents also. Tipi style tents really handle the wind. i'll follow your series more tomorrow. thank you..

    Great videos, love the Snowtrekker. Couple of important things; next time place the aluminum sheets between your stove and wood pile to prevent any fires due to extreme heat generated by your wood stove - that's a serious fire hazard. (you may want to place one in the back of your stove between stove and tent wall too). Also, place your side table on the opposite side of your Kni-Co stove rather than trying to work/cook over and around your wood pile. This will also make room for your aluminum sheets to lean in that area. And finally, thank you for sharing your videos. :)

    I didn't know that Japan got that much snow. Loved your video. What kind of job do you have in Japan?

      Hi Billy, Yep we get bucket loads of the stuff here in Hokkaido, 2nd snowiest place on Earth apparently. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I work for a real estate company. Take care. Paul.

    When you got your stove out, was it wrapped in a canvas bag?
    If so, did you buy it or make it?

    • @Followmeoutdoors
      @Followmeoutdoors  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gregory Supan Hi Gregory, thanks for watching and thanks for your comment and question. The bag is nothing special, just from the local hardware store, for garden waste I think, old grass leaves etc... they are light weight woven sacks... made of recycled plastic I think. I just wanted something to put the stove in to keep the rest of my gear separate and clean. Thanks

    Why would you put the wood up high?

    • @Followmeoutdoors
      @Followmeoutdoors  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      To keep it above the snow and accessible. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    We would not have known that was a stove behind you if you had not told us. Stupid conversation is a waste of oxygen. saying nothing is better. some of the best camping/bushcraft videos have not one spoken word. Watch and learn.
