I just came upon your channel. It was BRILLIANT how you rigged up your sled so you could actually pull it efficiently. Great job. If you don’t mind I’m going to copy that and rig mine up that way. I subscribed and now I’ll watch the remainder of this series. Great camera work as well. Thanks for your hard work.

USMC 1019 Hello and welcome, thanks for subscribing. The sled idea was not mine to tell the truth, I also saw it on someone else’s channel years ago, it has worked very well for me and I’m sure it will also serve you well. Thanks so much for watching.

Great video, thanks for sharing. I had to laugh when I seen the frame come apart,,happens to me every time too, I have the 8X10 EXP short wall that I’m very fond of.

Great little video to show the tent. I recently bought a basecamp snowtrekker now I wish I got the window. Great addition. Do you have a video or know of a video of folding the tent? It came so nicely packed and I would like to store it like that after I dry it out. Thanks in advance.

Trailsandrivers Hi there, thanks for stopping by, I don’t have a folding up video myself, and I also doubt I could ever get it folded up as nicely as it came. When I break camp however I usually just stuff the tent into a dry bag and then hang it up to dry for a day or so as soon as I get home... a video on how to fold properly would be great though, maybe I’ll have to purchase another tent so I can study the folding method ;) thanks for your comment and happy camping. Cheers Paul.

Just found your channel. I also love winter camping and have the same tent. I did not realize Japan was so beautiful and got that much snow. Looking forward to more videos. Greetings from Ontario Canada

Hi Paul - I’m considering the SnowTrekker 8x10 Exp shortwall vs this 8 x 10 solo - Did you consider this when buying your tent? I like the idea of the roomier inside. I think its an extra 2lbs of weight - Thanks for the video series :). Michael

The Emporium Hi Michael, I am also actually considering purchasing the 8x10 Exp shortwall before next winter as the extra room would be great and also on that model the stove Jack is on the other side of the tent which I now wish mine was, as the door on the stove would then open towards the inside of the tent instead of towards the door, which I would much prefer... I asked Duane from Snowtrekker and he confirmed it was only that model that had the stove jack on the other side. Don't get me wrong I love my little 8x8 but hey you can never have too many Snowtrekkers :) Thanks for watching and commenting, all the best Paul.

nice video. great tent. i am wondering why you didn't remove the snow down close to the ground? i'll move on to the 2nd video.

Wyo PoBo thanks for watching and commenting. Although last year was a low snowfall year, there was at least 2 meters of snow on the ground. Clearing the snow would have taken about a day by hand and I would then effectively be in a huge cold well l, and would need to dig steps down to get into the tent which would have the ridge line level with the snow surface ;)

How are you liking that size snow Trekker tent?! Can you stand up fully in it?! I'm torn between the 8x8 and 8x10

Scott Matthews Hello scott, as a one person tent it is great, I'm only 170cm and can stand easily and I think the 8x8 and 8x10 are the same height to the ridge line about 185cm or 73inches. I wanted to go as light as I could with still having extra room for all the gear I carry (camera stuff etc.) I always take too much;) but if you are worried about space I guess the weight difference is marginal and so is the price difference at only about 100 dollars more for the 8x10. Also perhaps the 8x10 would be better with the small stove I have, which is sometimes just too toasty in my 8x8. Thanks so much for watching and commenting, all the best, Paul.
