Sri Aurobindo on the Soul's Complete Emergence

  • In the triple transformation, the first emphasis is on the psychic change, the realization of the psychic entity or soul within. Its unfolding is the first step towards the spiritual change. As the psychic personality develops, the soul comes forward more and exerts its control over the being and the nature. Spiritual experiences can certainly take place before full and constant contact with the soul, but it is with the soul’s complete emergence that the way to the spiritual change is safe and sure. While it is helpful to differentiate between these first two transformations, in practice they intertwine and develop together, so that “psychic change” and “psycho-spiritual change” are sometimes used interchangeably. The third transformation, the supramental change, is the opening of an even wider aperture of spirit above the “lid of mind,” an ascent of consciousness into ranges of the overmind and supramental nature.
For more on the triple transformation, see: • Sri Aurobindo on the T... . For more on the psychic being, see: • Sri Aurobindo on the P... (basics); • Sri Aurobindo on Reali... (practical aspects); • Sri Aurobindo on Conce... (concentration).
"Awakened to the meaning of my heart
That to feel love and oneness is to live
And this the magic of our golden change,
Is all the truth I know or seek, O sage."
    - Savitri

Thank you for this interesting video. I have been reading the Life Divine and am somewhat overwhelmed by the convergences between Aurobindo and Rudolf Steiner. I am well versed in Steiner's thoughts, but am still new to Aurobindo. Is this a topic you would be interested in talking about?

@TheExceptionalState Apologies for not responding sooner. I have been meaning to mention to you a book by Klaus Bracker called _Veda & Living Logos_ which is a study of Aurobindo and Steiner together. I have not read it, as it is not my interest area, but perhaps it will be useful to you.

Thank you for sharing this with us. I hear so many overlaps with my own area of interest, the Anthroposophy of Rudolf Steiner. I am interested in learning more. Where did this text come from. Sri Aurobindo was a prodigious writer and I am not sure where to start for investigating the light filled thoughts shared in this video.

The text comes from _The Life Divine_ Bk II Ch 25, which I imagine you have already discovered.
My general recommendation to start would be the anthology called _Integral Yoga: Sri Aurobindo's Teaching & Method of Practice_ or any of the other small collections put together by sadhaks of the Ashram according to your interest (e.g. _Growing Within_ or _The Psychic Being_). Personally I find _Synthesis of Yoga_ and _Savitri_ to be the most "endless" of his works in terms of vision and practice--you can hardly touch them and not be changed. Do not neglect, however, to read works from the Mother as well; that's why those small collections are nice, as they bring both voices together.
You may also wish to search for Sraddhalu Ranade on YT, who has given many talks including slow readings of The Life Divine, as well as the channel Auromaa with many videos by Alok Pandey. Happy seeking 🙏
