The BYD Sealion 07 is priced between ¥190,000 and ¥240,000 in China, which translates to around $26K-$33K USD. 5 months after its release, as of November 2024, it ranks 123rd in the new energy vehicle sales chart, with 5,886 units sold in a month. Marketed as the "Model Y killer," it's still far behind Tesla's Model Y, which boasts 45,000 monthly sales. And this is with the backing of a "Chinese brand." nice one, keep it more with such content. Many people interested in Chinese EVs looking forward for such detailed reviews based on user experience (and ofc new cars on market)
Great no nonsense video of introducing the car. Have seen too my foreign reviews glorifying this car as one of the best in the market without really mentioning its shortcomings. I guess from the monthly sales figures you have attached, the Chinese consumers still believe in purchasing reliable foreign brands over local marques?
actually Chinese brands has taken the lead in sales for 2024, gas cars and BEV in total. and even though VW and Toyota still stand in 2nd and 3rd, their figure drop a lot while the 1st, 4th, and 5th(all Chinese brands) made their positions with double-digit increase. from the stats i have to say 2024 is a lose game for foreign cars. But in terms of reliability, there's still some time before we really see a full blown crisis for Chinese EV, if there is one.
@@ysc1692 Xiaomi or AITO should be the first for now, according to statistics. But it has a much smaller sample pool than BYD so i think not very big gap between them

I am from Eastern Europe Country in UE Federation; Sealion is not avaible yet here but price will be estimated close to the main rival Tesla Y (around 50.000 euro). Tesla have one significant CON in Cental and Eastern Europe - it is their charging stations which are cheaper than privates one and easier to acess. But BYD (and general Chinese brands) have diffrent approach - they are building the dealership network and then making infrastructure (althought this is the way what they are doing in the Eastern EU) - we will se e which approach will be better for future expansion, because from news and people feedback Tesla have still upperhand in central and West Europe, but Eastern Europe is still "not ready" for electric cars in terms of price and infrastructure. The Chinese brands exaclty knows that and thats why petrol cars like MG, DongFeng, Omoda etc have upperhand and are so popular (MG HS, ZS and Omoda 5 often have TOP10 selling cars in Eastern and Southen Europe, which is a brilliant result)
like you said they take different approaches, which is assumingly related to the marketing tactics or local circumstances. tesla may have deemed it more efficient to offer cheaper electricity than cheaper cars, while Chinese ones like BYD are trying to take advantage of the car's affordability. for this point I would expect Sealion to be about 20% cheaper than Model Y, just like it is in China.
@@ChianwrongwongIf the government mandates it and provides subsidies, more charge points will be built. The US is in a better state now, with manufacturers increasing the charge rates to meet the needs of newer vehicles with fast charge capabilities. With Tesla’s plus becoming the standard and other manufacturers changing their charge ports over, the Tesla network is now accessible to others and Tesla drivers can now charge almost anywhere. I feel it makes sense for manufacturers to contribute to a fund to increase charge points and not just make their own and have them accessible for their own vehicles.
BYD has a problem with battery density, it has fallen far behind, BYD needs to implement Blade 2.0 batteries in all its vehicles and reduce the weight or increase the battery kw to increase the range up to 700 km necd or 600 km wltp at least.
@@WareToGo_WTG Since the range was measured under a specific set of conditions, it's common that there are some differences between the reported range and the actual range. Indeed, the owner's complaint about having a smaller range in cold weather and highway is pretty normal. The faster you drive, the more is the back current generated and that reduces the charge available. It is also normal to have a reduced range when you turn on the AC or heat pump which can consumes a significant amount of energy. The guy thought you were biased probably because you did not guard people through these ideas and made it sounds like BYD was dishonest about the range.

thank you so much! BTW is the Korean subtitles working fine?
BYD, Zeekr, LiXiang.

@WareToGo_WTG 香港的充电站今天还可以。

Why do you call that car an extended range when it's really the standard range? That's the base battery for that particular model.
this is the long range version, 610 km

that's exactly the point. it's just been too long since they started using the gen 1 blade battery in 2020. the gen 2 would come out soon so we'll see
In UK entry and mid will have 1:0 still very good batteries but the top spec will have 2:0 and 800 volt charging.
@@WareToGo_WTG Yes, I'm researching BYD vehicles, and I think I'll wait for the new models with the V2 battery to come out instead of buying one now.
