Things are starting to change. In the West we still have preconceptions like if a product has the Chinese flag on it, it is a cheap and poor quality product. And if a product has the German flag or the UK, US, etc. on it, it is a quality product from the start. So this “made in” is like a guarantee of quality, but it takes time to build this trust, and I think China should already impose some high quality standards for companies that export products to the world in order to gain this trust. I recently bought a washing machine produced by a very large company in China, and I can say that it meets the highest standards already, and I am very happy with it. Well done China!

The question is, Where did the $8 (12 - 4) profit go? . They TRIED to exploit China. They DID exploit the "Home Consumer" and the "Home Consumer" fell for the "Chines rubbish" line. . Well, Now CHINESE companies are taking the "$10" (Top quality) products, which THEY can build for $6 and SELLING them for $12. BUT These are "New Tech" products and "Western" companies don't have the 30 year experience of BYD (etc). The "Western" offerings are $24 (inflation!?) or double the price, and they have to buy a lot of tech from China so they barely make any profit. . No "Subsidies" on the Chinese side. Just 30 years R&D plus Economy of scale.
Finally you made a video of BYD :-) I would like to see more content of BYD, example what are the taxi drivers thinking of the BYD etc.? Millage, maintenance cost, service / support
There are many other brands of EVs in China, BYD is not the most economical for taxi drivers, they prefer lower price EVs and there are many others to choose from.

Hi Lizzy, just to share with you that BYD is testing a new concept on car steering that no physical mechanical linkage are connected to the wheels. Instead wheels on different sides are turnt on different speed (by electric motor for sure)to achieve steering. It's revolutionary.
And China will (should) just say "No Problem". I think D.T DOES want them in, but with tariffs which HE can then divert to US manufacturers to "Subsidise" *Them* .... A tariff is simply a "Skim" off the top. A "Tax" on the end user, taken by the government (at least I assume that's where the cash will go? I mean it's not like funds have gone missing before?) (Oh, the Irony?) BUT..... If the Chinese companies (and Government) "decline the opportunity" and just sell "everywhere else" that would leave USA (etc) "High and dry" with BYD and others dominating those other markets, decimating any remaining export sales by the US "Big 3". D.T will be "VERY annoyed" by this, but it would be a result of his actions. China? Will "Get By" with sales to the BRICS/ BRi countries of the "Global Majority".

How can the US compete on technology, design, quality, functionality, features, and pricing of these cars?! You are so fortunate to be able to experience this time in China where you are living the future in the present as a young person. These memories and experience you are acquiring are priceless. I found that Lizzy didn’t like off-road vehicles very much. Every time she passed Fangchen Bao, just skipped it. Lizzy prefers business-oriented cars, such as Denza.
BYD does not stand for "Build Your Dreams" - that's just an acronym for western markets. The real reason is the brand was named after a highway called Yadi, it registered the name at car shows but being near the bottom of an alphabet listing with "Y" wasn't the best so they added the "B" to the front of the brand to be up near the top of the list when advertised in an alphabetical listing - so more accurately it's BiYaDi or shortened to BYD.
Wasn't Lizzy entertaining the idea of getting a Tesla earlier this year? Tesla seems downright pedestrian compared to comparably priced Chinese domestic makes. I have a Tesla MY, and so many chinese EVs make me cry in envy. Tesla doesn't even natively support Apple CarPlay or Android whatever its called - and it costs $10/month for the workaround and to have maps with traffic data lmao Still it's the best EV outside of China haha
