GameSpot did a great job picking Jonathan for this series. Obviously he is an expert in firearms but his knowledge of pop culture, his style, wit, humor and charm just makes him perfect to engage with a gaming community. It seems like he's a really cool guy and I hope to see this series keep going with him because I look forward to watch more of these videos in the future.
The fact Jonathan plays and understands games himself also makes him much more enjoyable to listen to. You never get any boomer moments from him when he talks about games, unlike a lot of other subject matter experts.
@@McGregor43 agreed! Even if he does talk about a game he hasn't played, the charm and wit that OP mentioned makes up for that lack of game experience. Love him to death lol
He is literally the savior of the channel. If you compare view count between Jonathan vs non Jonathan videos it's pretty laughable
@@McGregor43 Exactly! It's important to be adept at both virtual and real to draw the best comparison between the two. Factors like gameplay balance wouldn't make sense to someone who's just a weapons expert but never played games. It's the same thing in the case of driving simulators. The best comparisons are drawn by race drivers who both race in real as well as on simulations like iRacing, etc.
He quickly rose to be Gaming's Gun Jesus (Ian is still gun Jesus, but Jonathan is basically THE name where both cultures overlap)
Finally Jonathan doesn't have to suffer.

Thank you! Yes, it's crazy - we filmed the first season of Loadout before the pandemic hit, and Expert Reacts might not even exist if it wasn't for The Event :)

You’re so lucky down in the south, having that firearms museum. The closest we get is the small collection in the local regimental museum, which is cool but limited
Erm....the main Royal Armouries is in Leeds. The down south one is Fort Nelson. Unless you are really up north in GB xD

I'd love to see Johnathan be able to interact with some of these games, rather than just watching. Would spice up things every other episode or whatever :)

The man has barely enough time reacting to computer game models and animations
IDK why Gamespot couldn't just send him a decently spec'd laptop with a company steam account and just queue up the games he'll be checking out ahead of time from corporate. Technically, the hardware and software could be written off on the taxes if I'm not mistaken.

You can even make it a series like what he would choose for a western game, a zombie game, a modern warfare game, a ww2 game, a Cyberpunk/futuristic game etc.

Considering EA/DICE called Ian McCollum from Forgotten Weapons to help them out with Battlefield 1's roster of experimental, prototypes and actual service weapons, I'd like to see something similar with Johnathan too.

I only came across this series this week but have binged the entire collection. I immediately watched this when I saw it. I love the passion and knowledge yet also he can accept when changes are made for gameplay. Just a fascinating watch!

Could we get another look at Hunt: Showdown, given the changes to certain reload animations, additional weapons added and plenty of those not covered in the first video, would be fun.

@@Mr_Fancypants It's slowly getting more attention. More content creators start covering. In last 30 day it had an 11% playercount increase. And you can see they increased budget for things like trailers so I think the game is growing more and more. Especially after Tarkov making high risk shooters more popular.

Love this series! Being a gun enthusiast and other this is great. It's educational as well.

You should do more Hunt: Showdown videos. A lot of guns there are pretty rare in video games like the vetterli and berthier.

I lived in Leeds city centre for about half of 2018, and I loved visiting Royal Armouries! Beautiful downtown canal area and a very cool museum.

Been seeing this series popping up in my recommended a lot, finally got around to actually watching it a couple months back and have found it really interesting. Something I'd be interested in seeing next year would be the Half-Life series (and maybe Black Mesa)

Just found these videos beginning of this month and it's really wanted time fly by during long days.
Johnathan honestly seems like just an all-around swell guy. I am pretty sure I could listen to him talk about basically anything, whether I have any prior investment in the topic or not. This has been one of the most enjoyable series. I've absolutely learned a lot and appreciate his ability to be critical but not insulting! Game devs consult this man for your video game firearms! Ha!

First of all thank you gamespot, royal armouries and most of all Jonathan for the amazing work that you guys do and I hope that this year will bring good fortune and happiness for you all and I have an request if it isn't too much to ask can Jonathan react to the weapons of the devil may cry series I really want to see his opinion on some of it's guns
I like that apart from a few weapons, all of these come from the games who are more tactical than your standard fps. It really shows the thought and care they take in creating their armaments.

next year you got to react to the guns from Borderlands 3. They are a highlight on their own.
6:41 I think they are showing that the character shoots mainly by holding the trigger down and just releasing the hammer to fire instantly. This is technically faster than to set the hammer, then pull the trigger. Its also massively unsafe, as its how Baldwin killed his DP while filming Rust. Keeping the trigger held down is also how you would "fan shoot" from the hip by just slapping the hammer back, and its how cowboy trick shooters can shoot so insanely fast

Jonathan is going to love Marauders. It has a Viper Mk 1 in it and a bunch of well modeled WW2 guns but in space
I love how carefully he handles the guns, like when he was demonstrating the SAA Colt he wouldn't let the hammer fly forwards on its own and dry fire when he was pressing the trigger.
Really love this content, it is always a must-watch, long may it continue
As much as I hate Gamespot, this is the one thing they do that I fully support. Jonathan is a true expert and fun to watch.
