I was only 4 years old when this aired, but I remember this storyline. Even though Alicia Minshew played Kendall for much longer while Sarah Michelle Geller moved onto bigger and better things, SMG will always be the "real" Kendall in my eyes.
I agree 100%! I liked SMG as Kendall more she played the part of a bad girl so natural, Alicia Minshew who I tolerated as Kendall had her moments to me.
SMG reminded me of young Erica; before she became a celebrity. Too bad ABC doesn't have most of that footage anymore. But I have seen scenes where they seem to have the same meanness laced with tons of insecurities. Kendall wasn't as vain as Erica. But they both were clearly damaged and good at causing themselves unnecessary problems. I wonder if SMG studied old SL footage to get into that head space.
There's an interview right here on TH-cam with Alicia said when Sarah found out she got the part she said SMG sent a big flower basket fruit basket her dressing room was full of stuff Sarah had sent by delivery congratulating her

Yeah I grew up watching the new kendall who is great but I was a Buffy fan and had to go back an watch Sarah and boy did she do great job in this role I see why she made it so far she played the drama to a T

I feel old that I watched this when it aired and Maria had to explain to the audience what an MRI is.
Erica looks as though she did not know. It didnt look like she was faking it but she honestly did not know this was her daughter.
She didn’t. Erica was traumatized by the events that surrounded Kendall’s birth, and blocked everything out. Also, she never saw Kendall after she was born. It’s understandable that she wouldn’t recognize her when she saw her.
And yet still a more realistic story than when Eric discovered her aborted fetus from the '70s had survived and grown into a hunky 20something man. BHAHAAH.
Maybe Kendall was originally supposed to be the aborted fetus of Jeff and Erica.
Sarah Michelle was very good here. Luck had something in her contract that she couldn't have an older daughter..didn't want her character to appear too old.
Erica probably didn't believe Kendall at first because Kendall was lying about her age at this time. She was 16 pretending to be 18 so as far as Erica knew 18 years ago she had not given birth thus she ain't my kid
no sarah michelle gellar was really 16 but the characters age was older i think the character is supposed to be 21
Sandra V Like SMG, the character was initially also around 16-17 years old but, due to timeline issues, was SORASed later on to her early twenties as you said. At this point in these scenes, Kendall was still a teenager. However, to make it even more confusing, this SORASing was reversed when Kendall appeared again in 2002 and she was again born in 1976.

Kendall replied with, "i'd rather have a glass of champagne!" to which everyone stared at her and she goes, "hey i know i don't look it, but i am over 21."

Kendall was 24. because she's only 14 yrs younger than Erica because Erica was 14 when she was raped, So this is 1993, kendall was born in 1969 where erica was 15 in 1970 at the start of the show. so technically she was 24 here placing Erica's age here at 38. they didn't actually SORAS her until when Alicia Minshew took over the role. they de-aged her making her birth year 1976. if they did SORAS her here in this time line it was only by about 3 yrs.
Auroraila Alicia Minshew began playing Kendall in 2001. here she's 24. smg is 16. kendall is 24.
I wish Kendall did not drag out the explanation. That's soap opera for you.
I dont think Kendall ever wanted to get along with Erica which is why she dragged that conversation out. It was just the cherry on a sundae of what she would become down the line.....

I love these scenes between Erica, Kendall and Dimitri - kudos to all the actors for bringing their A game.
Kendall is a little freak show here. As far as Erica knew, Kendall was just her employee, yet she expected Erica to know that she was her daughter. And, to make matters worse, she was a psycho employee who expected Erica to forget about Bianca to deal with her.
She was so full of hate that nothing mattered to her but getting revenge on a mother who didn't even know she existed at first.
Kendall had a lot of dysfunction, hurt and anger. I think she came into the world with it.
This was a great story, Lucci and Geller were amazing in it. The only weak point in the story is I never understood why Kendall was so obsessive and damaged when we saw she had good, loving adopted parents.
none of you's were ever given up for adoption so criticizing Kendall you have no right to. I cant imagine the feeling of being given up on.
@@brotheldan2009 Plus Kendall thought Erica got pregnant and just handed her off to the heart's. Kendall doesn't know she was product of Rape. Even when she found the truth she didn't want believe it.

I really detest and can't understand the negativity towards Lucci. Lucci is an established, respected and hardworking actress and person. Sarah is a good actor but Lucci is equally as good. And together they are magic. I don't know why some people seem so crazy but saying one can't act or can act or is better. It takes two.

From what I heard SMG(Kendall) was pushed into the media as the new Erica. On top of SL hadn’t won a Emmy and here comes this little powerhouse getting Emmy nominations her first year on the show. I’m not saying that SL was or wasn’t mean but SMG has a rep also so everyone please stop just throwing SL underneath the bus. I love Buffy also but stop it y’all. SMG has a great career and SL is still amazing as ever so they both won. Let’s let go something almost 30 years ago!

@@jeraldisme It was said SMG to have quite the ego on AMC set. She ran with ELR(Maria) and KR(Haley) and they are all still friends. ELR is friends with SL(Erica). SL is friends with KR but SMG and SL didn't share one scene together when she returned for AMC finale. Nor do they ever mention each other LOL! It's clear something happened during that time. Now from what's being gossiped SL hated having SMG be her daughter due to her getting rave reviews and Emmy Noms out the gait. SMG was a nightmare young diva because of the rave reviews and the praise!!!
They're both women who have been with the same husband for years and love their kids. This is a soap opera. I can't believe some soaps are still around. And the actors look the same after years and years. Well preserved. Even the guy who played Cliff Warner on AMC.

Brie Larson, this is the type of acting I want to see when you’re trying to act your way out of a wet paper bag as if you’re life depended on it. This is one of the reasons why an Emmy Award winner is better than you when it comes to acting. Sarah Michelle Gellar is a better actress than you the same way Buffy Summers is a better superhero than Captain Marvel.
I really don't like Sarah Michelle Gellar's acting. She's good but she always seems like she's thinking through her lines, almost too calculated to be natural.
