On serious note: tentacled - leg figure with flaming sword - that is for sure Raziel, as Elder God agent... But skullfaced figure - you think its Ariel? How terrifying would be that concept, in grand scheme of all themes running in those games...? How civilization, oceans of time apart, would predict this whole ordeal... It always blows my mind :)
I did laugh really hard on the subtitles too xD The other figure does look like Ariel, doesn´t she? Her soul is the key in imbuing the Reaver after all.
Not gonna lie I wish they'd kept that art of Raziel in retail. Would've been lighting my brain all the way to the hallway of portents. Honestly, while I wish we could've gotten all the content I still would prefer this ending and build up to it. That hallway was such an experience at the time I wouldn't want to lose it.
I wish they would remake the hole series, from bo to defiance with all "games" included....there you can play the original timeline (as example, one ending is to make the original ending with the smokestack and kains retreat) and all the other timelines....and the player could choose to which end the story goes.....in one kain sacrifice himself...in the other not....in one raziel defeats kain in the sr1 part, in an other may where kain and raziel meet at the pillars and so on....ok this would be really a huge game, but thats the point....raziel could be like sr1 or defiance, for kain idk...but may you can choose which style you want. xD i'll think so often about it,its so fascinating to think of all the timelines and how they could be.
Actually its possible when you look at the recent games, and it would be absolutely badass but sadly even the crystal dynamics nor eidos gives a shit about lok and i dont know why. I think about the possibilites on a fully developed legacy of kain series which includes the ancient battle between hylden and vampires, imagine the game starts the era when this battle occured and tell us how did elder god made those vampires to worship him, and how the hylden lord manipulated the mortanius. And as you said an rpg thing like you can choose between storylines it would be a huge game, theres lots of untold things on the series because of the technology of those days, but nowadays its so possible and even normal to make a huge game with lots of stroytelling and lots of paths. It would be the game of decade but I cant understand why the developers dont use this opportunity.
One can only dream of a ps5 remake of this game with the full story. (But what about SR2 and Defiance?, I hear you say... -well, they could use the excuse of a time paradox to create a new story from the remake, or maybe Kain escapes through time as he does here in the original) sigh. One can only dream. ^^
pls no exuses, the story is very good so far and adding exuses will just ruin it, also if they remake the game with changes they will need to add voice lines to the game but some of the voice actors have passed away like Tony Jay who voiced the Elder God and Paul Lukather who voiced Vorador my they rest in peace. i think the best way to revive the LoK series is to contunie the story after defiance and explore the world of Nosgoth more like what they plan for LoK Dark Prophocy th-cam.com/video/79nku277BAg/w-d-xo.html
I'm puzzled by the fact that in the original it appears there were no plans for Kain and Raziel to return to the past via the Chronoplast. Was this present in very early versions of the game, before or after the final Silenced Cathedral visit (with a version of the Soul Reaver 2 plotline planned) or was it the case that originally the Chronoplast was only intended to allow *visions* of the past and future, not actually travelling there? The Chronoplast section feels strongly like it was intended to lead into a SR2-style revelation for Raziel about the Elder God ("why, as Nosgoth descends into madness and misery, do you appear to thrive?"). The original plotline suggests the Elder God is largely played straight as the good guy, but the recorded dialogue contains several suggestions that the Elder God is not all he seems; Tony Jay delivers his lines with a conniving and duplicitous edge and it's hard to believe they intended the ending to be an unalloyed victory for the big squid.
After Raziel killed Kain and opened the pipes, he would be congratulated by the EG but realize his grave mistake and travel back in time to fix it (this was confirmed by Amy Hennig in an interview).
@@simonregan471 There were no more areas afterwards. I assume a cutscene would show Raziel going to the Chronoplast and travelling back in time. This would result in a slightly different SR2 than what we got.
Time travel was always part of the story (and you've gained Shift at will in Chronoplast), it just happened after all vampires were dead when Raziel realised his mistake.
Such a useless ability. I love this game, but after seeing all the cut levels and abilities, I can't help but feel the game is incomplete. Hopefully when they release the remaster, there'll be an option at the title screen to choose what mode you want to play....the released version, or the originally intended version. I really am intrigued by Turel's territory and the Undercity. I wonder how the possess ability worked. Was it you controlled an enemy for a short period of time, as if it were Raziel?
It is hard to know how exactly would Raziel's past play out but he was meant to travel back in time in the original ending too. Hylden were devised by BO2 team, however.
@@TartarusPyro in a way, yes, I like the story we got. As far as I know, if this game would have been fully released, Raziel would have killed Kain and then realised that was a mistake and Kain was actually key to the salvation of Nosgoth (pretty much like he did in Defiance) and then he would have travelled to the past to try to fix his mistake. It is still interesting, but I must say I like the way Kain guides Raziel and how Raziel doesn't know shit throughout the games (it makes Raz more relatable and it gives Kain more agency), so it's difficult to tell... I would still love to see many of these areas implemented, maybe with the ending a bit changed so it would fit SR2. We are fully into the land of dreams at this point anyway... :'(
One thing that bugs me about LoK history, both canon or alpha timeline is; What was the Elder god plan to defeat the infernal hyldens after kill all the vampires? (sry for my english)
Whoa. Man I wish theyd remake this entire series. So hey! Is the oracle just the eldar god. Or is this for that hyldan woman kain meets in BO2 that is called the oracle?
I just wish they did the game as originally intended...Turel's lair, Kain's mountain retreat, the possess glyph. Why didn't they just do it? Was it deadlines, or not enough space on the ps1 disc? Hope we get it one day. It always bugged me that turel is never seen, yet his banners are everywhere. The game while awesome still feels rushed. At the very least, the smokestack level should have been included.

Wait, why the hell does Raziel and the other vampires even HAVE reflections? Lol
We've only seen Janos Audron not have a reflection, though, necromantic vampires might be different.
It's implied that only the original *true* vampires act like that, Janos and the other "born" vampires as opposed to the created like Kain and Raziel
