    We have a French door with double screen door. I love how both sides open, plus such a breeze for large items . We had our new couch delivered through that and moved most of our furniture ourselves through it too.

    Very cool details and one benefit for French doors is if you open both doors then you can get a very wide opening

    We replaced French doors with sliders and are very happy with screens, ventilation and security features. 👍

    This was very helpful. Thank you. And I appreciate you including the average cost.

    I am getting my door replaced and I considered French doors, but the screen and the fact that the doors take up internal or external space when opened made me decide to stick with a slider. We also have really strong wind and wind gusts out here in Texas and having the window blow open into something (or someone) and get damaged or damage what it hit was also a big consideration.

    This video is clearly mistitled. It should be "Why You Should Get a Sliding Door," with a subtitle of, "And All the Reasons French Doors are Evil." I'll be adding this channel to my never recommended list.

      I agree with changing the title, but I think he made very valid points between the two styles.

    "Today we're going to talk about why you should get a sliding glass door from Anlin!" That should have been the title of this video. 😒

      He had great points. No one is forcing anyone to buy their doors. Try to look at the value of their information and then go buy whatever you want 🤷🏽‍♀️

      His points go for any door company, unless they don't have screens for their doors, which I have heard some companies don't.

    I have sliders and I hate the track. Thinking of replacing them with French.

    Great info! Thanks very much for putting this together. We're looking to replace our 23 year old, builder grade sliding door and were considering French doors (because we need a small doggie door). Our existing sliding door has a side panel with a doggie door. No sliding doors we've seen come with a sliding door as part of the "kit". But, given all the advantages of the sliding door, I think we're now leaning towards buying a new "side panel" and have them install it along with the new sliding door.
    It would be great too if you could explain how energy efficient sliding doors are compared to French doors. The seal (which is really stretching that word because it's horrible) lets all kinds of air in and every summer and winter I find myself stuffing this foam in the crack between the doors. Do today's sliding doors seal better than the old ones? That's my main gripe about our existing door.

      I strongly disprove of rodent and insect doors. The dog can learn to be patient when it is outside.

    Am going to sliding glass doors to replace our French doors. They only open on one end, so no more room for opening. We have to get blinds for them every so often because they look like crap. Have had sliding doors before and loved them. Also they look so much better.

    Hi how to clean the track of it especially if you have pets that shed alot? Over the years the sliding track is not a smooth slide at all. Any suggestions on cleaning it up?

    What is your take on sliding/hinged doors that fold like an accordion?

    • @americanwindowconcepts5510
      @americanwindowconcepts5510  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Those are awesome! They just cost more...a lot more. But the cool thing about those doors is the ability for huge sizes due to their frame material. They usually come in heavy extruded aluminum.

    One big problem with sliding doors. I could not get a few of my furniture pieces through them. I need French doors to make that happen.

      All my furniture fit through my front door. Sliding glass doors tend to have an even bigger opening than a normal door. I have to wonder what kind of furniture that was.

    Do Sliding doors come with locks on the outside so that you can come in thru the sliding door as if it were the main way to get into the space? I want to put one on the side of my stand alone garage and would like to be able to have it locked or unlocked from the outside.

    THE COST OF FRENCH DOORS AT BIG BOX STORES ARE HALF THE COST OF SLIDING PATIO DOORS!

    • @clearviewtechnical
      @clearviewtechnical ปีที่แล้ว

      But French doors always have big, bulky frames and let in less light.

    • @MAGAMAN
      @MAGAMAN หลายเดือนก่อน

      Don't buy doors or windows from big box stores. They are usually very low quality items, like Ply Gem or Jeld Wen, which you will be replacing in less than 10 years, possibly less than 5. On the off chance you can get a quality brand like Andersen, there is a good chance they will have problems, especially if you use the schmucks home depot sends out to install them. Best to order straight from the factory and have a certified installer install them.
