Just popping into say that all measuring tapes are loose at the end for when you're measuring the outside of something (hooking the metal onto a surface) or the inside (pushing the metal against a surface) :)
right!! it gives you a true zero, the wiggle room is the width of the piece of metal on the end so that when you're measuring from the inside it accounts for the space that tip takes up.
You can also just start measuring from 1" mark and then subtract 1" from your total measurement. Then it's perfectly exact. That's what I've been taught so passing along! :)
Megan is just living the life I want. To just keep redecorating my house and getting paid to do so. Like getting the funds to keep redo-ing my space over and over again
Fun Fact: the reason for the end of the measuring tape being loose is to accommodate for the thickness of that end piece. That way when you pull/push the tip against the material you're measuring, it will already be accommodated for and the markings of the tape should be exact.
this is waaaaaaay better and so much more satisfying than any other DIY homemake overs- seeing the beginnng to end with the struggles in between. Perfect *chefs kiss*
Megan i just want to let you know that ive been watching your channel since 2015 till now(=while i was in college till now). You have been a source of inspiration for me, Love you 💜.
OK Megan, I’m so wanting to do this, you have me absolutely inspired. But please give us an update in a few months on how they hold up. I need to know how they will hold up to wear and tear. Because I feel like this is one of those projects where I do not want to be having to redo it every few months.
at the beginning of the video: the window looks great already, why is she starting a new project by the end of the video: omg the window before looked awful
I recently learned from the guys at " This Old House" that the tape measure shift is actually intentional and accounts for the thickness of the metal tip. The metal tip is exactly 1/16 of an inch thick. The way it works is If you’re measuring the outside of a surface and hook the metal end on the edge, that metal piece will shift out and create a gap, so that you aren’t counting it in your measurement. If you need to measure the inside, like in a window frame, the metal piece will shift back to fill the gap and calculate the measurement correctly.
The wobby tip of the tape measure is the thickness of the end. It slide in when measuring inside sides and out when measuring outside ends, like cutting a board.
I actually bought a old vintage wood interior door and painted it black and put barn door hardware on it and hung it up in in place of my master bath door and it I love it cause it also gives me French mom vibes!
The window came out so nicely. Its a freaking piece of art. I do not think you will need a curtain, it will take away from your masterpiece. Will you be adding the same feature to the two windows on either side of the TV? I think that will set it all the way off!!
I had all your notifications on and was so sad because I hadn’t gotten a notification in a while AND TH-cam UNCHECKED MY NOTIFICATIONS! Good news is you just uploaded 8 hours ago and now I’m happy 🥳
After watching this I looked at the windows in the house, and my mom went, don't even think about it!🙄 You have left even yourself behind with this project. STANDING OVATION
I love everything you do!! Tho I am concerned that the lines aren’t even horizontally!? It must be an illusion or the angle of the door right? You’d never let that happen!
MEGAN!! THE TAPE MEASURE IS LIKE THAT TO PROVIDE ACCURATE "TRUE ZERO" READINGS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU ARE MEASURING THE INSIDE DIMENSION OR OUTSIDE DIMENSION OF SOMETHING!! (It pushes in for inside dimensions, and pulls out for outside dimensions)
The tape measure moves depending if you butting it against some or if you are hooking it on something. It should move so it's more correct. It should move by the width of the prong.
so the measuring tape space do have a purpose. so when you pull in it it will give you the number X, and when you push it in to something it will give you the same number X. the reason why you can move it a tiny bit, is the thickness of the metal end. the metal is 0.X thick, so push to measure is X + 0.X and pulling measuring is X - 0.X. but both methods gives you the same length of X, since it is able to move 0.X that is the thickness. and ofcourse the empty space between the tape end and the metal end, is for the movement and is also included with the numbers you read on the tape.
That little gap that moves on the measuring tape is actually there for a reason! I can't explain it very well so look up, "why do measuring tapes have gaps that move" it is really interesting!
Not sure if you will see this but that "wiggle" in tape measures is by design and is there to compensate for the hooks thickness. You push against things for inside distance and pull away for outside. It is also the reason you should always let it contract softly else the rivet gets loose and the compensated measurement *is* thrown off a "skoosh"
That little wiggle at the start of the measuring tape is to be able to measure from the outside (pulling across something) or the inside (pushing the tape against a surface). That wiggle is equal to the thickness of the metal lip. The more you know!!!
It’s been 2 weeks so let me clear my throat for this...
There’s a fool here!
I’m genuinely impressed.
We all are
Oh hey kyle
Everybody: quarantine
Megan: starting an hgtv show from home
I’m obsessed, and the animation? 👌🏼
It's like you KNEW that I just sat down with my tea ready to do these nails

Megan all tapes are loose at the end to adjust for the zero measurement when u use it on the inner and outer diameters of stuff
Fun Fact: the reason for the end of the measuring tape being loose is to accommodate for the thickness of that end piece. That way when you pull/push the tip against the material you're measuring, it will already be accommodated for and the markings of the tape should be exact.
YES, SHOW US THE SAVINGS! SHOW US THE BEAUTY! SHOW US THE HARD WORK! MAKE US FEEL LIKE WE CAN DO IT TOO! 🥺💘
The rendering is so cool!!!
I think we all know that the patio behind the door is next and I couldn’t be more excited🤭
Jeez the "feel like in a movie but im the wife that died" was a tad bit too accurate lol
I'm 100% certain that if I ever had the pleasure of accidently running into that door, I would thank it. That's how you know you've done a good job.
this is waaaaaaay better and so much more satisfying than any other DIY homemake overs- seeing the beginnng to end with the struggles in between. Perfect *chefs kiss*
I like how the french diy doors look as you come up the stairs cause they actually match your railing of your stairs. Good job Megan!

I almost never read Megan's video titles anymore. As long as I know it's Megan, I'm going to click it regardless what video it is or how long!

Like always I love your energy and I love the makeovers you do.
I love everything you do!! Tho I am concerned that the lines aren’t even horizontally!? It must be an illusion or the angle of the door right? You’d never let that happen!

Your makeover videos are my favourite ❤️
megans future job is definitely this. she is amazing at it.

Those renderings look so cool! Please do more!!! 😍
You are so talented!!!😍😍🥰🥰

They're georgous and you are hilarious..Thank You.

I thought you were gonna raise the curtains Megan!! I definitely think high curtains would look better in that space 👌🏼
your videos always brighten up my days, thank you ❤️
