Right! Almost to the end, I'm thinking YES! Go with fiberglass. Then he says, that the vinyl door may outperform other fiberglass doors. I think there is a real difference to be considered in the type of frame. What stands up best to high heat? I hear vinyl expands so much that this is why the seals break in windows. Fiberglass isn't supposed to do that. For me, material is important first. Then, I can see about triple pane glass and roller type, etc.
Great point. Hardware design (like multipoint locking system) equates to a tighter air seal and higher performance. Fiber glass is a stronger, more rigid material than vinyl which makes it better for larger door dimensions and better sealing surfaces.
Exactly I bought vinyl windows. 1 set is 9 ft tall. 2 windows mulled together. They sink in in the middle. As if they melted from the sun. Now the glass looks twisted
Jay Johnson, you did a very good, easy to understand video yet you've ignored most people's questions, you've failed to reply, than what's the point of you making these videos and people following. 🤔 We're watching cause we're seeking knowledge😉
Thank you Jay! My husband and I are considering either the Andersen 200 series permashield which is a vinyl-clad wood (low-e glass, double pane) or the Polaris ultraweld all-vinyl. We're doing our research! This is not a 'brand' question and we understand you do not sell windows - we are however interested if you have a POV on vinyl-clad vs all-vinyl. Thanks!
Wow l was reading the comments and Jay you responded in a very childish way. If you are truly a unbiased expert you should not need to respond in such a way. People are looking f Or facts not childish responses. You should have given the names of the windows and price you compared.
As much as you still wanna love vinyl and it’s cheap price and it’s warping of material fiberglass is always the best solution because the frame is the foundation of a window glass quality glass is mandatory federally regulated so quit trying to push that garbage vinyl
You are obviously not very well versed in (all) facets of framing systems or in the different grade and construction of the different types of vinyl . So here's a public challenge for you. Why don't you get for me the specific (brand name) of any fiberglass window manufacturer and get me all of the performance ratings on the window. I want ALL of the performance ratings from the NFRC label and the ratings from AAMA. Since you're such a window expert I shouldn't have to tell you specifically which ratings I'm looking for because you should already know these if you're really as knowledgeable as you're trying to come across. Then we'll see if you're ratings outperform the ratings and some of the manufacturers I will provide. One other thing as well, while were at it lets compare warranties too so make sure you get a copy of that as well. So do you accept the challenge?
You can find 10’ vinyl doors all day long, very common. Issue is vinyl is a horrible material to use on any size door if it lives in direct sun exposure. Thermally broken aluminum is the strongest
I appreciate the details in how to select doors
This is good information for an average consumer. The sales folks make a mess of buying experience and thrive on confusion in consumers mind

What is the make and model of the Fiberglass Sliding Glass door?
I too would love to know the model/make of the fiberglass door in the video.
For glass patio doors I would recommend Dako. They also have other materials but I havent used them yet.
Sound spiritual advice.
Thank you!
There are several options of vinyl patio doors with brass/stainless rollers and multi-point locks.

Does anyone else only hear this out of their left headphone? I like the content, but it's tough to listen to with headphones!
Thank you for the info.
