Definitely give Robbie Williams Rock DJ a look but make sure its the music video. Was banned on MTV when it came out and is a little a sassy and a little graphic in a comedy way. It's widely used on TH-cam so it's OK to use it. Would love to see your reaction 😂
@@g0fvt One of the first was Billy Cobham's "Spectrum" in 73. I bought a copy in 75! Massive attack sampled Leland's bass from the track "Stratus" to use on "Safe from harm"
Us 70 year olds have grown up being entertained with most talented original groups, band and individuals in the 60s, 70s and 80s to ever grace the popular music world. In my opinion there in nothing that compares today.
Phil Collins once had a knock at the door of his Surrey farm, from a desperate neighbour who needed £10,000 to keep his house after a messy divorce. Phil leant him the money, interest free, and told him to only pay it back, if and when he could afford to. Two years later, the man returned with a cheque for £10k such a lovely man
THANK YOU FOR NOT PAUSING DURING HIS DRUMS!! So many other reactors have and it’s a major crime to interrupt the GOAT - he’s singing AND drumming which is SO difficult to do. Many reactions by vocal coaches to this achievement. So pleased to enjoyed it - gives me goosebumps every time xx

Subsequently, I learned to play jazz and blues drum . And play Bodhran for Irish Music . Love you to watch the Corrs Toss the Feather on YT . Just to show how talented this group really were .
@@nalanroberts sadly not anymore. In the last ever Genesis concert at the O2 in 2022 his son was playing the drums (Nic Collins) as Phil can't hold the sticks anymore and his singing voice is no longer what it was. He was sat in a chair all the way through the concert. Awesome to see the band one last time but very sad at the same time.
Hi Guys, Daryl Stuermer, the lead guitarist , has been with Phil forever and played with Genesis from late 1977. FYI he is American and comes from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has a long career in music with his own band back in 1970. Also, FYI he is a month older than me. Stay safe you guys.
I love when the audience reacts when they see his drums comming up from under of the stage floor, as he walks towards them, for they know what's comming next, the whole thing is complete and utter professional showmanship, it was the base player leland Sklar you saw with his eyes closed at the beginning getting in the groove.
I just think it’s AWESOME (and RARE) that you guys will actually go to the effort to react to more-than-one version of a song, in order to make your viewers happy! There are very very FEW reactors who are that responsive and who care that much.
Hey guys, 'In the air tonight' was released in 1981; so it is 43 years old. I love this version so much because of the build up and each instrument has it's own epic introduction; and then of course the drum ending which make me nervous each time that he isn't gonna make it to the drum kit in time lol. Hugs from Oz.
There is a core group of Phil fanatics on TH-cam who immediately jump on every reaction video. And I’m one of them… haha. I’m sorry people were mean about it, but they just wanted you to see the best live performance of a ubiquitous rock song. Glad you saw the difference.
People who grew up listening to artists and bands from the 60's,70's and 80's like Phil Collins are still listening to their music today, where as most of the l talentless mime acts today won't be remembered in 50 years time.
I have watched this video more times than I can remember. It never gets old, and every time, when he drops that beat I just start to smile and I can't stop. Bet I'm not the only one.
It always blows me away that he is singing live and drumming and if you close your eyes you would NEVER guess that the guy singing is the one playing those drums. It is so rare to give a vocal performance like that while playing drums and to not have ANYTHING show in your vocals. Phil is an amazing musician (not just drums) singer and actor and producer. The man is a LEGEND in the truest sense of the word and does not get even half the recognition and acclaim he deserves !
I’ve seen him live 3 times and whether you appreciate his music or not he is without doubt one of the best live performers I’ve ever seen. It really was like listening to a record for the entire gig. I’m no expert but the ability to sing like that whilst playing drums (and let’s be honest, he was really playing those drums) is unbelievable. As many will know, he’s not doing too well health wise at the moment and I wish him and his family well. A true legend that has been a part of many people’s lives for so long.
I'm of an age to have seen Phil Collins from when he was the drummer with Genesis, Peter Gabriel as the lead singer at the Rainbow in London in 1973. Many more times as a single artist and with the band. This includes the final gig of Genesis at the O2 London in 2022. One of the best.
A very talented man, originally just the drummer for Genesis before taking over after Peter Gabriel (very talented himself) left. His daughter is a great actress - currently starring in Emily in Paris
Vastly underrated ! He is a true icon and definitely deserves the title LEGEND. The man is a master musician, singer, actor, producer and on and on. There should be a new term for people like him who are legends because that term is thrown around so much now, and to people who don't deserve it, that it has lost the meaning. You are lucky to have the memories of seeing him live.
First played in 1981. Still unsurpassed after 43 years in my opinion. It's very sad that Phil isn't still able to drum. This is my generation, loved his music along with Genesis, The Police, Queen, Led Zeppelin, etc.
Paris loves their Phil Collins! This whole concert is GREAT. Leland Sklar is always into it and is one of the best bassists to have ever existed. Your full screen is epic. Phil just takes our breath away. Good luck on Saturday......just don't let your Vols beat my Gators! I can feel it.

Sorry to say this to you, but the song was released in 1981 it is 43 years old, don't worry I feel old too. Great reaction by the way. Phil is the GOAT.
As a kid of the 70s and teen of the 80s, that was my immediate thought: "Twenty years ago? More like forty!" Music like that is timeless - decades can go by but it's still powerful and relevant.
Thanks for another fantastic reaction! Give yourself a treat and watch the entire concert at some point. It is seriously incredible and worth your time.
The electric guitar just squeezes your heart it wails out with raw emotion, Phil's drums punch you in the face and the bass guitar simply gets you deeply in the gut. Stunning performance ❤
I’ve been watching reactions to this video for a few days now. Every time Phil starts that amazing drum riff, I get goosebumps. Seriously every single time!!! Phil Collins has been so underrated for his entire career. It saddens me that he can no longer play. I hope he gets some recognition from his peers because he greatly deserves it 🙌 🙌 🙌 🙌 🙌 🙌 🙌 🙌 🙌 🙌
I've watched this dozens of times. Never gets old. A moment of musical art stamped in history. I only noticed after watching the first several times that his drum kit was hidden and rose up as he got closer, AND there were no cymbals in the kit. Amazing. This track was in the middle of the show, after an interlude. The whole concert was epic. Be well. /M
Phil is an absolute musical god, this performance was epic, another live performance you might want to check out is John Farnham with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra doing his biggest hit You're The Voice, great reaction guys 🇬🇧
The cool thing o like about his performance of This song and the Paris version is you don’t actually see his drums untill he’s about to play 5 secs before he play them as he walking towards them you see them raise out of ground just in time for him to do his solo
The song was released in1981. It's on his debut solo album. This perfomance is from 2004 and the other from 1997. Unfortunately his health condition doesn't allow him to play drums anymore. He performs in a wheelchair. His son Nicholas plays the drums.
Came back. Love the FULL SCREEN. Phil weaves a spell. He is so good live (as was Genesis). Phil learned well the dramatic build-up. Authentic swag. A great musician. More Collins!
Glad you guys are OK after Milton. Phil is absolute LEGEND in my opinion and this performance is awsome. If you ever want to dive into musical history go to Leyland Skylars youtube channel. He is the gentleman with the long beard in this performance and he has played bass guitar with too many GREAT artists to mention, (into the hundreds I think). he recounts and replays some of the performances and he seems to be a very humble person yet he should definitely be given some love for his contributions to many of the best pieces of music we have ever heard, both as a studio player or in concert.
This track came out 43 years ago, in January 1981. Where did the time go...? It was PC's first solo single, off of his solo debut album "FACE VALUE." The way you tell the story of having supposedly watched the 'wrong' version had me in stitches!😆😂
In 1983 I discovered an album called Genesis by Genesis and I haven't looked back since if ever I could recommend A work of art by him then it's got to be home by the sea live. Watch and listen to how good his musical art is
There's another great song from this show that I think was the finale. Phil and his drummer Chester Thompson get into a drum duet that leads into "Take Me Home" with the whole place singing along. This song was released 43 years ago and gained notoriety in the TV series "Miami Vice".
Listen, guys, i've been listening to phil collins since this song first aired. Both performances equally as good. They both have the wow factor. The people who are complaining are probably young and they're more used to the newer more up-to-date performance. Now if 1 video did not have him doing his thing, then yes, you can say one is better than the other.
I love Phil Collins! It's so sad that he has been ill for such a long time 😔 This concert was insane! Thanks for reacting to it. Random fact but today I learnt that Lily Collins, the actress from "Emily in Paris" which I super enjoyed, is Phil's daughter! How cool is that!
There is almost no 'wrong' Phil Collins tune; however, I am glad you found this one. Now I will sit back and enjoy (for the 1000th time) the best performance ever recorded, imho.
Most epic divorce song on the planet! All of us back in the day played air drums when this song came out😁! Phil is a legend! Thank God this is making the rounds cuz I worried our music would die! Btw this came out in the 80’s. Songs older than u think✌🏻😎
That Guy you mentioned is the very talented bass guitarist, Leyland Sklar. He's played on hundreds of albums and concerts with the best bands and soloists on the planet.
@js0988 Live and Loose in Paris was exactly the same as Dance into the UK. Same set and everything for his album.... Dance into the light. I went to the Earls Court show.
"In the Air Tonight"came out in January 1981. Obviously this version was performed later, but the song today in 2024 is now 43 and 3/4 (this is October) years old. You young chickens make me feel incredibly old...

This was used in the Miami Vice pilot episode.
That Guy you mentioned is the very talented bass guitarist, Leyland Sklar. He's played on hundreds of albums and concerts with the best bands and soloists on the planet.
Phil Collins is something special, who else could get Santa to play bass guitar in their band!
One of 3 artists who have sold over 150 million albums as part of a group and solo, the other 2 are Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney.
p.s. Live and Loose in Paris is his best concert ever and worth checking out the whole concert.
@js0988 Live and Loose in Paris was exactly the same as Dance into the UK. Same set and everything for his album.... Dance into the light. I went to the Earls Court show.
@@dalj4362 Can't find any footage from that.
@@js0988 The footage your watching is from his dvd in paris only. Things were different back in 97. Man I feel old lol
"In the Air Tonight"came out in January 1981. Obviously this version was performed later, but the song today in 2024 is now 43 and 3/4 (this is October) years old. You young chickens make me feel incredibly old...
He is sometimes a little underappreciated Genius of singer (and composer)
A Genesis of a singer. ;)
@@lilacfloyd I see what you did there. Good one.
This song came out when i was in college. Absolutely love you guys reacting
.people who are haters need to chill!!!
